Thank you for the video, but it seems to me that it would be more useful from a practical point of view to compare strings of different series from one manufacturer with one gauge.

Perhaps I won't try dying the next lot lol. This one was a test set for Danish Pete's ones that I dyed purple. I don't think they've ever been worn.

Fabulous ability to discern such detail. Big respect.
Absolutely love the videos with Dave and Cici! Getting them all right instantly, I'm blown away.
Guys, really enjoyed that. I wish I still have Cicis ears. Been playing bass 50 years, what did you say? Hats off again, your band is killer!
Cracking as always! As Cici was wearing John's goggles we need a ''DIGITAL CICI''!!!! intro 🤣
@dominiccrimmings6925
Жыл бұрын
Well, that's not right - Cici is about bass so wouldn't be "digital cici" would it? Something to do with "go low" or something
I just switched from 45-105 Fenders to 45-100 Super Slinkies on my Stingray and the bass has sprung to life like never before. Lighter gauge lets you raise the pickup up higher without getting magnet warble above the 12th fret. Should have done this ages ago - it sounds like a Stingray again!
I've spent years playing standard gauge and now I've switched to a lighter gauge and it feels so much better, It has also forced me into playing with a lighter touch which has improved my technique.

Same. I prefer the sound of thicker strings, but my tiny fingers just can't handle it and I make mistakes. I'd rather play cleanly with slightly less tone than killer thick tone riddled with mistakes 🤣 how the instrument feels in your hands is the most important thing.
Wow. Super impressive Cici. The thousands of hours you've put into playing shows up in many ways. Well done.
Howwwwww?? That's a really good skill - synesthesia is so cool
She’s pure magic (well they both are!!!) 🙌. Love seeing videos of these two.

We need Cici super powers to settle the tone wood debate!!!
That is probably the most impressive blindfold challenge that I have ever seen. Cici has not only amazing ears but also the way she describes sound is not something I could do. 🤯
Cici never ceases to amaze.
Love the Alice in Chains shoutouta @11:08 - Rotten apple rules and even a hybrid bleed the freak at the end. Thank you, Cici
You guys are hilarious and this editing it 🔥🔥🔥

@@CiciVonStrangelove Your most welcome Dear Lady. You and the band deserve all of the accolades you receive.
I use 45-105s. Great job Cici on guessing!
I don’t play bass but thought this would be a fun video given the presenters and definitely wasn't disappointed! Amazing work to guess all the gauges correctly!
LaBella 760FL Deep Talkin' Bass Flats - Light 43-104 Short Scale, Light Tension, String Gauges: .043, .060, .082, .104 Truly wonderful strings!
That is absolutely crazy. Cici is amazing. She has to do more shootouts. Awesome.
This was a really awesome video!!
That synchronized chair descent 😂😂😂 Edit after watching: good gravy that was impressive. Great job Cici!!!
So much fun watching these two!
I love these two, brilliant videos. Cici is great.
No, that can't be true! How can you be right so easily? Your synasthesia is a gift.
OMG CC what a skill. hum i liked the 100s they sounded to me right, bravo.

thanks guys, she is mega.
I got them all, though I am actually blind which helps, and probably easier with the bass recorded than the sound of the amp in the room. Prefer the 100s for an all-round sound.
Wow! Unbeliveable that you got all 4 right!
As I suspected all along, Cici is AMAZING !!! Great video, I enjoyed every minute of it. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
dood, you're a pretty good sounding bass player, fantastic touch and your transition is so smooth, note to note, Bravo
Cici and Dave are amazing! Keep it up!
Cici just drops that first slap riff as if it's nothing
Cici = ❤
Cici is bloody good!
That was a very good video doing just the difference in the strings so cool 😎
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 brilliant CiCi.
Helpful because bass strings are so expensive and last so long, we can't be changing every few weeks to try things out. I'm interested, though, in the sonic differences between steel and nickel wire, round and hex core.
Wow, talk about crushing it
That was mental. And very cool!!!
Thanks guys !
The past couple of years I've been playing StringJoy 30-40-60-80-100-130 (or 125) based on feel preference, but I seriously doubt I could guess gauge based solely on sound, especially with someone else playing. I may get a string or two correct, but definitely not 100% correct like CiCi did
Got 110's on my Rick, dual truss rod.. probably the only bass I have I trust to bare the tension of these, monster sound! but a real pig to play for more than a few songs but my J and P's are all 100 .. middle road, versatile neither too skinny or too thin, nor too phat or too weedy
I genuinely don't know of a single bassist who plays Ernie Ball. And personally I'd never be caught dead with them. EB's gauges are also weird AF. So used to 45-105. Or rather 45-65-85-105-130 as 5 strings are my weapons of choice. All that bitching aside.... Well done Cici and Dave on a fun little video and quite fine playing.
FLAWLESS VICTORY!
Properly impressed. Cici has one hell of a set of ears.
Wow she's amazing got them all right amazing
Way to go, Queenie!! You ROCK!
Haha!! Of course it's John, just cos!! Brilliant seeing how Cici picks out the nuances of each set, Amazing!! How the hell you get those right? Cracked me up that has. Well done Cici, amazing hearing.

Haha of course! Thank you John :)
Cici has superpowers! Truly amazing 😄❤
I run hybrid 100-50 on my old Peavey Fury! Single bar pickup with 1 volume 1 tone, gives it a lively low end while maintaining some punch with the higher tones 🙂 seems to sit better in a mix as well, while still vibrating the the drummers snare chain on our kit with a good low Bb! 😆
Hey Can you guys do a System of a Down BASS and Guitar Tone. Would be cool thanks
Lol I love these two. And mad props for Ceci!
Favorite duo
That intro was such a let down ha. Anyway, my go to set are 105 - 50. They are a nice blend of lightness and warmth. I do sometimes picking 105-45 string if available on certain basses. Can't say no to a set of 110 tho, beefy low-end with that warmth. Does give you a work out playing them for sure. Cici nailed the blindfold test very impressed. You can easily tell the lightest from the heaviest. The hardest ones I think are the middle two because they are very similar.
i liked the 105s! so warm

4 out of 4 ... Cici just knows her stuff AND she is a "precision bass player" 👍
Blimey, I made that John blindfold so long ago, I forgot I'd made it. It was ages before Digital John appeared on our screen and I've only just made the connection. I don't think it's ever been seen has it? Do these 2 need their own blindfolds?
@Skiddins

Yes! 😃
We definitely need some more blindfolded Cici...
I've been using 40-100 2d choice 45-105s Thanks great video comparison And the young lady plays great👍🎶
Best Andertons Ever!
fab! --- I liked the colour of the real heavies -- but I ain't playing them
I'm not picky when it comes to strings. My takeaway: I'm in the market for PJ bass and boy, a P7 sounds great. I'm about ready to pull that trigger now (or a P8 if I can justify the price difference to myself)
I love the chairs they are using in this video, they look so comfy for playing. Does anyone know what they are?
Cici is just all around amazing…!
The bass itself is also an important factor here. For my Rickenbackers for example, playing half a step down to E Flat, I use 40-90 Rotosounds because they just sound the best on those basses. The low end sounds much tighter with the thinner strings, more present and fatter. Going with 100 or more on the low E just gets too muddy. For a Fender or a fat active bass, that would probably not be viable though.
Why is there no string set .045" to .105"? This is the bench mark standard.
Be interesting to try this with short scale basses
Wow, see sound and picked them all out. Doesn't hurt to be a talented bass player either. Heard sounds from a bass I have never heard before, or knew could be done, and it sounded great. Now do the same with guitar strings. Think that would be a little more difficult.
Keep in mind this is on a 34" scale bass. 105-45 have the "slinkiness" on a 30" short scale bass to what 100-40 feel on a 34" scale.
Wow. Cici!
Cici rocks!!!
When I saw the title, I thought it was going to be different string makes (but same guage). For the record, Rotosound RS66LD (which are 45-65-80-105) can't be beaten - you guys should do a shootout with them.
lmao, Im loving these folks
Hello guys, i was wondering, do you guys have plans to do how to sound like Ghost?
How do they get the frequency response graph? Whats the plugin?
What is that white Boss pedal you are using in this test?
Surely seeing sound when you're blindfolded is a level of cheating we don't normally 'see' ... Still blown away and in awe of the skills non the less. Thanks for the laughs all

Hahaha true! In my defence it’s not necessarily a reliable way to tell string gauges, as I still need to actually be able to hear the difference in order to see it (if that makes sense 🤣)

@@CiciVonStrangelove Without question just another level of skills in your set. But I hear you... I can tell when stereo speakers are wired incorrectly but the sound has to speak correctly or rather 'incorrectly' to me, if that makes sense...

I use Ernie Ball Super Slinky 45-100. Roundwound. I have for about 25 years. (They come in a pink pack).
"But what color is the bass?" ...... im out =))
strange that you call the set based on thickest string, we use to call it based on thinnest one in czech :D ..also for guitar string s we call it 9, 10 ..13 .. etc
What, no Cobalts??
It's beautiful to see this on the bass strings but on guitar strings I'm a professional on that

Does Cici have Synesthesia?
She's such a star! I'm old enough to know that one should just agree with an intelligent woman. Oh, plus those are the exact strings that I play and they perfect.
What's the lick at 17:32 ??

How about including flats next time?
The tone and playing reminds me a lot of Dave Pegg.
