Awesome demo 😎🤘🏻🎸 my personal favorites are d’daddario pro steels, dr high beams, Dunlop stainless steel and super brights, Ernie ball cobalts, sit power steel, and rotosound swing bass

Perfect comparison. Actually they all sound very good ! Different kinds of great ! I tend to prefer Dean Markley Blue Steel, but I could totally understand and agree with people going for other brands as they all sound excellent, however, the things that might be different are the feeling under your fingers, the durability and body chemistry. Some strings wear quickly while some others last a long time. Some strings may feel rough or hard while others feel soft and silky, it's a matter of personal taste and preference. Once again thank you for the great work, cheers from Morocco.

Thank you so much this video is probably the most helpful strings video out. Would’ve loved to see Elixers stainless steels make it but never the less awesome video! Sadowsky Stainless #1 for me had in my opinion best highs for the classic fender slap tone and playability Mark bass steels gets #2 for me, that unique mid scoop feel is unique and awesome if your looking for something not too bright but still getting a bad ass tone

I think the brightest strings are: - D'Addario ProSteels - Blue Steel - Marcus Miller - Slinky Cobalt (more mids) - Warwick (its like they convert into the Warwick Basses sound)

i think pro steels are the brihter from all and have a little more air from Blue steel and dunlop steel but we need a good headphones to hear the differencies..All are great strings btw

Mark bass is more compressed sound! Pro steels have more guts and air from all the above. Sadowsky i think are more defined. Warwick goes great with warwick basses

Honestly, there's so little difference in all of these that the differences are immaterial, because no matter which of these I put on my bass, I'd adjust the amp to get "my tone", and none of these have differences large enough to overcome that. I don't actually own a fretted bass at the moment, only fretless, and I won't use roundwounds on fretless (and won't use flatwounds on fretted), but I have always used Rotosound, D'Addario, and Ernie Ball as my preferred brands, and from what I'm hearing here, I see no reason to change, except to say that I have also played Dean Markley Blue Steels in the past for guitar and would definitely buy them for bass, based on what I'm hearing here. I really like what I'm hearing from the new Ernie Ball Cobalt rounds and flats, so they are definitely on my list for the future, but currently my favorite flatwounds are the Rotosound Jazz Bass 77 Monel flats, so when I do get around to getting a fretted bass again, Rotosound Swing Bass 66 strings will be a strong contender. The only thing that gives me pause is the idea that stainless rounds may eat up my frets faster, so I may just stick with nickel rounds. Looking forward to hearing the nickel strings shootout, next.

Can't display longevity in the clip, that said, Stainless will out live nickle wound all day long, sound brighter for longer too. They all sound quite similar and all sound okay, choose the lower priced strings and make up the sound difference via EQ.

@@georgeszweden9497 Looks like the photo is for a 4-string string package for some reason. The link he gave however shows that the Warwick B string is .135, so yeah still an outlier but in the opposite direction.
