Why waste money or time waiting for a Sousaphone (Tuba) when there are plenty of Sax players around to do the job. PUT THEIR A$$ES TO WORK!!!

Matthew Knopf there is a huge timbral difference between the two, the bigger bore size or the tubing and different configuration of the bends and straights changes the sound a lot. I doubt you’d say an alto and a tenor sound the same and the difference between them is (more or less) the same as a bari and bass. If you don’t hear a difference between the two then you either have a pretty poor ear or you’ve heard some crappy Bari saxes

+reelBigSpic Well, I'm not sure man. Pretty much just whatever the average Mexican Banda music group tuba bass lines play at. I think they use those upright tubas, not sure. I am putting together a musical subwoofer set up for my pop's Chevy. Usually, people use massive subwoofers and a bass restoration machine, but that results in boomy bass, or a Rap music type bass that I like, but it doesn't sound natural. And so, I though that maybe if I found out what frequency or Hertz tone Banda music usually uses in music/songs, I could tune the subwoofer enclosure's bass port/vent tube to a frequency that would allow the subwoofer to play either higher frequencies or somewhere in bewteen. Just not sure what the average Tuba plays most, in an average song. Maybe mostly 125Hz? Or as high as 160Hz?

Alejandro Alvarez You’re a sonic scientist! I wish I knew, but most players are blowing so wildly out of tune, I’d imagine it’s A=442 or higher, but it fluctuates. I wish I knew more about this. It’s only been a year, seems like enough time to have cracked this DaVinci Code. What did you come up with?
@Luminous.Dynamics
6 жыл бұрын
+reelBigSpic Hahaha. Ended up bullshitting the tuning on the subwoofer enclosure. Tuned it to about 37 hertz, with an aeroport. It was for a vehicle. Sounded so-so, not as good as expected. Guess he will need really good mids and highs speakers, as the tuba bass might play through those easier. Those tuba bass frequencies were still too high for the subwoofer we chose.
