"I LOVE MUSIC" What blows my mind-among many things-is the kind of playing, arranging confidence you've got to have to take on one of the most beloved, iconic pop songs of all time. A true classic. Loops & Wong and Co. not only did the original proud but in the process managed to make the song their's too. That is just next level musical magic!

AFAICT, no one has mentioned that the video and audio were recorded in two 'halves'. Dirty Loops recorded in Sweden, and Cory Wong and (some of) the Hornheads Minneapolis. The look of the Minneapolis studio carefully replicated DLs studio. Aron Mellergård, the drummer, is also the video editor for DL. He combined the two videos to look like they were in the studio together. Apparently Cory Wong was smiling at his girlfriend who was off camera in the Minneapolis studio, and that's why he looked so engaged. Three of the horn section were Prince's studio and touring horn section, the "Hornheads". The guy playing trombone is Michael B Nelson, who was arranger for Prince, and is leader of the "Hornheads". Best Wishes. ☮

I love how the piano music in the intro sounds like we're at a funeral... BECAUSE THEY KILLLEEEDDD IT. 🤣 Great reaction. I love hearing other musicians react to other musicians. As a singer, my face stayed in the "stank" position the entire time...

I LOVE MUSIC!!! I'm amazed how they could change so much: shuffle instead of straight beat, the bass line, etc., and still it's unmistakably Thriller.

I’m with you there, in the end they modulated up a whole tone, I think, and then at the very end, briefly up another minor third… Dirty Loops have a way of playing around with keys and modulations like you wouldn’t believe 😉 And how they ‘reimagine’ this iconic tune is just out of this world! Would love for you to have a listen and reaction to their song “Follow the Light”! Thanks bro 🙏

"I LOVE MUSIC" Dirty Loops do the most sophisticated, yet next-leved-pocket groove stuff stuff you can imagine. They started around 2010 with rearranging/reharmonizing Pop songs just for fun in their rehearsal shed in some music institute in Sweden with no intention to being a band or getting their shit to stage until a swedish songwriter/producer called them up asking if they were interested in participating in a swedish talent show called IDOL... rest is history. Btw... Jazz musicians in the 40s and 50s did the same with popular songs from Tin Pan Alley - they reharmonized them and made them more complex (The Real Book Jazz classics) so Dirty Loops didn´t invent that concept but thank GOD they use it in a contemporary context ;-) Horn section is from Cory, they are called the "Hornheads". Henrik has a swedish Mattisson signature bass ->mattissonbass (Janek Gwizdala is also endorsed by them)

They haven't competed in Idol. I think Jonah may have applied to that show at some point, but wasn't picked to advance any further (I'm not a 100% sure about that, as I was never a fan of that show). What they did though, was putting up a video on youtube (a cover of Lady Gaga's Just Dance), as a booking reference to try and get a few gigs for fun. They didn't tell people about it or anything and it still got lots of views, so they put up a cover of Justin Bieber's Baby as well, and it completely blew up. Andreas Carlsson called them and asked if they were signed with someone, and after that they were all over the media here in Sweden. Andreas Carlsson hooked them up with David Foster for their first album, and now Quincy Jones is their manager, although they produce everything themselves, together with Simon Petrén.

@@lottawiklund8606 Ahh ok, thnx for clarifying. I sure know about Simon and Quincy and Aron is even doing all the editing stuff, which is pretty impressive in it´s own right -> the "Turbo" album was recorded both in USA and in Sweden and stitching all that together is pretty mindblowing...

Ola BSM, " I LOVE MUSIC ! " I LOVE DIRTY LOOPS ! They have become my favorite, my number one, top of the list contemporary band since I first heard them a year ago. They are all stellar Musicians. They are without a doubt a Musician's band. However, they managed to make their daring, bold, complex, innovative arrangements and musical choices acceptable, listenable and ultimately enjoyable to "civilians" (non-Musicians) despite them not being able to understand and/or comprehend the musicality of all. Quite a feat. Ciao. Le😎 Conguero/Percussionist/Drummer San Francisco, Califusa Subscriber 7,17Me
