Bass Legend Tim Lefebvre on 4-track Cassette and Talking Upright bass
Музыка
Tim is a supreme badass and influence on many musicians and bass players. On this day, we hung out, recorded to cassette, talked upright bass, and made steak. I didn't film the steak consumption part... didn't think you'd wanna see that.
Listen to the tune we recorded called "Flagstone"!:

Done finished!! So glad Tim came up on my feed and I remembered to watch this, truly awesome, informative I'm playing Bass every night, and the Bass legends suggested are much appreciated. I've bookmarked this to rewatch as I gotta play a bit before bed....and eat. Awesome steaks and Tim swears more than an Aussie...respect. Man I'm back in the Gym and that steak and the wagu fat? for the Potatoes has my gut growling...I'll settle for some eggs, what an amazing Video! Thanks and Excelsior!!

I could listen to 6 more hours of you guys rap about bass. Thanks for sharing Chris and Tim! "Money Jungle" is a trip! Btw. that Scofield album is "Time on my Hands"....In 1990 I wore out my then-new cassette of that record. Also, KCL's "Greenwich Mean" was almost the only recording I played on my Sony Walkman CD player in 2001. To say it was life-changing/affirming is an understatement!

Dude, I'm very late to the party here but this was an absolutely awesome video/interview. It is totally the way to go in terms of informal chats with outstanding musicians. The low 'likes' makes no sense at all. I would imagine there are many thousands of people out there who would love this but are completely unaware of its existence.

We were recording on our Tascam 8 trk cassette and it was a song that featured a 30 second or so improv bass intro.I guess I was inspired and pulled of the most amazing thing ever and we were high fiving until my partner on the recording realized he hadn't armed the track.I never could recapture the vibe of the missed track.

Carrerr I thought oh here we go again he's gonna mention blackstar and tedeschi trucks and not acknowledge KCL and then you surprised me ahaha. @@Fedbo the fun things about my fandom of Tim (and Donny), is that I loved these musicians back in the mid 2000s. Then, everytime I turned around Tim was playing with other big acts that I also love. HAVE to give props to KCL. Musicians have so much respect for that trio, for good reason. The instant tempo shifts always got me and still do. I can listen to "War-torn Johnny" all day. Fun fact back in University I was responsible for picking up McCaslin and his trio from the airport. Hans Glawischnig played bass and knocked my socks off.

@@MadeOnTape ha amazing story!! Yeah it's true carlock and Tim have played around a lot. I was shocked when I found out carlock was also the session drummer for John mayer, i love how he can go from underground jazz Avantgarde in 55 bar to stadiums and arenas seamlessly. Maybe out of the 3 krantz has done less work for other artists and in a way I think he is under apreciated but he stuck to his own thing and went into directions with the guitar that nobody explored before. And that's probably worth more than filling stadiums and having big hits

@@MadeOnTape hahah absolutely, I've been flat out culling my daw in Ableton setting some kush compressors close to "set and forget"...culling tracks back to a smaller template. I came back to finish watching this...Tim is coming up on my feed now...it's great. I made too many "rookie engineers errors" plural...as well and will spend a few day "admining" the whole thing back and practice Bass which is going well ( Bernie Edwards Riffs! ) and just some guitar as usual. This is great top energy and vibe, nice Cat I have two!
How cool . I saw a video a while back where Tim was showing how he got his sound on David Bowie's last album . I think the song was Lazarus ? I'm not 100% . So cool to see he is a jazz nut . Is this track on the new album ? Is there a new album ? I love when artist collaborate with other artist . Be cool to see you and Brother Nylon do a number . Thanks for the video , Chris !
