Basic soundboard signal flow for live sound, from mixer to speakers.

During this live session, I present the basic soundboard signal flow for live sound as we use in theatre. Basic mixer, EQ, Amps, and to the speakers.
You're standing in front of your console, staring at all these knobs and sliders. What do they all do? Why are there so many? What is there to gain from the gain knob? In this video, we start from the beginning, the microphone input, and we will trace the path in which the signal flows from input through the channel strip, past the master faders, and out to the amplifiers. We discuss equalization, panning left and right, what is unity, and why are some channels stereo while others are mono?
This video is presented from the point of view of mixing live sound for Broadway-style musicals. We approach this basic soundboard set up an operation to explain the audio signal flow that is required to get sound from a microphone to the speakers. This will be particularly valuable for beginners and middle and high school teachers who need a better understanding of their audio consoles.
Stage Seminars believes that well-trained students will be able to run their audio mixers, control boards, and the rest of the sound system after taking these tutorial videos. This series of training will be equally valuable to church volunteers.
This is chapter 3. The signal path of sound. Sound Processing, EQ, Compressors, Delay, and more.

Sound design for theatre is often overlooked in its importance to the overall theatrical experience the audience deserves.
I created this video in response to many questions from middle and high school theater teachers needing to know more about their sound systems. Many do not have a background in live audio mixing, much less in audio consoles, EQ, etc.

Great video. The only improvement would have been to show the whole mixer . Great stuff
