The last koshinage variation looks similar to one form of Tsurikomi Goshi,. Great work.

I have done 12 years of aikido, but still don’t see practical application of koshi nage. Why would you turn your back on an aggressor?

because almost everyone in Aikido sets this up incorrectly. It should be more about extending uke past the point of stability and entering in to send them over your hips from the movement you have already created - it's very difficult to explain via text! But when you see Aikido spinning around in front of their uke and bobbing down whilst holding up their arm and expecting a completely in balance partner to fall, it's not a realistic expectation.

@@Gronked but the demo is artificial, tori is much shorter than uke so therefore has a lower centre, uke waits passively while tori positions himself. I understand it’s a clear step by step demonstration, but it should also show ‘real world’ action with with uke resisting technique and being aggressive. If someone grabs you in the street they won’t just stand there with no ‘follow up’.I still say it’s an ineffective (and dangerous) move for anyone to use in real life. I welcome anyone who can disprove my contention

@@michidwyer4845 no, you're absolutely right. People training this technique should not expect their partner to just stand there passively while you set yourself up in a strucurally compromised way. I think even this (and most Aikido versions of koshi nage) set up, even as a demo, misses the point of correct set up. Obsviously in this video the demonstrator can't do much about his height in relation to his partner, but it shouldn't ultimately matter much if there is a height difference either way.
