Hi Aaron! How are you? You haven't posted anything in a long time; are you ok? I always like to go back to your videos from time to time. They were invaluable to me when I was getting started with guitar electronics and I'm very grateful for that. Just wanted to say hello and I sure hope you're well. Take care!

Hello Werther. I'm alright, thank you very much. I know I haven't uploaded anything in a long time; it's just so much work,, even simple videos like mine. And the basics of guitar electronics are more or less covered I think. Best regards!

@@aaronstonebeat Hi! Nice to hear back from you. Well, I'm glad you're OK. Still alive and kicking as the expression goes. ;-) And yes, the basics of guitar electronics are definitely covered. Perhaps the best series I ever saw! Thanks for your reply. All the best! Werther.

Yes. And for the neck pickup: lug 1 to Neck hot lug 2 to output lug 3 to Neck 'ground' and to lug 2 of Bridge volume Switching between pickups is different too. In a parallel situation you normally turn a pickup off by disconnecting it from the circuit; in series it has to be bypassed (which also happens if the volume is turned to zero).

@coche9009 Only if the pickups are 'RWRP', 'Reverse Wound, Reverse Polarity'. If the coils are wound or connected in the same direction and have the same magnetic polarity there wille be no hum cancelling. The same is true inside a humbucker: it only 'bucks hum' if the coils are RWRP. It doesn't matter wether the connection between the two is in series or in parallel.

Very helpful, I have a 98 danelectro dc guitar. Something was wrong and I couldn't figure it out. The switch was not working. I bought the wrong kind of switch and tried to wire it in. I spent days puzzling over a diagram I found on a danelectro site and could not figure out for the life of me why that middle position was off. Now I get it...

Volume and tone for individual pickups have to be wired a little differently when the pickups are in series. I'm not sure if individual tone controls would be useful in this setup; I'd have to experiment with that.

Any suggestions on how to wire the pickup selector (3 way) to this. Btw what would be the resistance in this setup. Middle position on parallel is 1/ (1/500 + 1/500)= 250K. In this situation it would be 1M (500+500=1000) would not it? If this is so, a 1M resistor in parallel with it could be an idea to make it less "hot"? soldering it between lug 1 of the neck and lug 3 of the bridge?

How about series wiring in a 2 volume 2 tone setup. If bridge and neck are in series by connecting Neck ground to Hot Bridge for instance, By doing that the bridge volume will become in parallel to the bridge pickup instead of in series. where as the neck volume is now in series with both pickups. How will this affect the use of both volume controls and their affect on the pickups seperately? Both act as a sort of master volume since turning either of them off will shunt output and ground.

How would you wire it then? Would it be something like this for the bridge volume?: lug 1 Bridge hot lug 2 Neck ground lug 3 to ground

does the series conection produce a hum cancel?, 'Cause its like the internal conection of a humbucker, ... am I wrong?

I think hum buckers have to have the wires wound the opposite way from each other and their magnets flipped, and also be close together so there aren't any phasing effects
