    Not always 2.2v, to drive the gate into full saturation you need about 10v

    That is very correct!!👍👍 This video only shows the VGS threshold...which also be slightly variable for each individual MOSFET. This is why min and max ranges are provided in mfr. datasheets. Your best/lowest RDS(ON) will be at full saturation, which is at a higher end of the actual VGS ratings....not at threshold. Thanks for the wonderful engagement.     Can a mosfet act like potensiometer? I try with irfz N channel to making variable speed, but always failure. I change to transistor and work.

    Enhancement mode MOSFETs can be driven to operate as high power resistors - when operated in the linear region. So yes, they could act as resistor but. However, to get them to act as pot, you made need a cascade of two MOSFETs.....I am just thinking on the fly. More design analysis would be needed to implement something like this.     You are absolutely on the tight track.👍👍👍 N-Channel MOSFETs basically have three modes or operating regions. - Cutoff, - Linear, and - Saturation. You can turn the MOSFET slowly in linear mode (not recommend for switch-mode power design), once you have reached the minimum Gate-to-source (Vgs) turn-ON threshold voltage.....which is usually between 1 to 4V for most MOSFETs. In full saturation mode, the MOSFET will turn ON as long as the applied Vgs is > than the threshold. I hope this helps. Sorry if I may have confused you with too much detail. 👍😎 The Innovati0n Lab
