This video mainly stands out the Making of Molds. As it is shown in our for sale videos this important process will take us to get precise covers on a car seats from zero. Car upholstery has a similarity to tailoring or shoemaking. The involved pieces should be marked and precisely cut after molding process and the gotten cover should perfectly fit onto the car seat.
We need to 'avoid guessing methods', something like 'I am going to give it more selvage or cut the pieces bigger just in case becomes shorter...'
The 'reference points' or 'V notches' are also of great importance. The 'basting' with staples ease the sewing procedure.
I have used for this sample 1/4" of an inch foam. On real car seats it is advisable the use of 1/2" of an inch for top panels and 1/4" thick foam for lateral pieces.
The use of foam on all the pieces is a kind of 'lining' which adds more
'body' to the seat cover. Besides, levels irregularities on seat surface.
I hope you find this video helpful!
Cesar

  • @Cechaflo

    @Cechaflo

    4 жыл бұрын

    Dear John, For this training I have used 1/4" of an inch thick foam. On real car seats, we could use the same thickness foam all over. But if we want to do some special foamed design that requires more padding on seating panel then 1/2" of an inch on top panels and 1/4" of an inch for lateral surrounding panels. The foam I used for the big central panel of this sample is the same I show (minute seven:05) in this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/pYWKyMulh7SZips.html This foam is special because it has a percentage of 'memory'. It means it is very resilient and recuperates its form immediately. It is of 'medium density'. It is used for tennis insoles. From now on I am going to use this product for my foamed designs (top panels). The other foams I would use for lateral panels.

    Cuando cosemos el 'vivo' a la otra pieza nos queda una 'línea de puntadas' por el revés del material. Esta línea de puntadas sirve de 'guía' para coser la costura final de cierre. Esta costura final se hace 'presionando la pata de vivo' ligeramente para coser de 1 a 2 mm más adentro y lograr un 'vivo' bien cerrado.

    Hi Cesar. At time 9:40 you are sewing over a join with several layers of allowance material. I have found this situation to give a lump or bad looking join in the finished product, especially if doing it with a French seam. Do you have any tricks to cut the seam allowance to reduce the bulk in that join? I think this could make a good video topic. Thank you /John

  • @Cechaflo

    @Cechaflo

    4 жыл бұрын

    Interesting commentary! The 'trick' to avoid those 'lumps' consists in folding both seams one to the left and the other to the right. If necessary a 'cut' is done closer to the edge. A tip: minute four:25 kzread.info/dash/bejne/d3eYyqyhgNCnZ7g.html Another tip: minute eight:02kzread.info/dash/bejne/h4ZktdpqdMvAeqQ.html Hope it helps.

    Lo que está pasando es que el 'pié de vivo' que está usando es para una medida de 'cordón/espagueti'. Supongo que es para coser 'vivo' mas grueso. La solución es conseguir uno para medida mas angosta acorde al 'cordon/soguilla' que esté utilizando. Para Consew, venden en Amazon, Ebay, etc. varias 'patas' con diferentes medidas para el 'vivo'. Como se puede leer en el anuncio venden para diferentes diámetros/medidas 1/8", 3/16", 1/4", 5/16", 3/8", 1/2" www.amazon.com/Consew-Walking-Welting-Piping-Cording/dp/B07488QJM3?th=1

    Para hacer tapicería liviana y pesada y no estar cambiando agujas con una 140=22 o 160=23 es suficientes. El hilo N° 8 para 'costuras de unión', vivos y para las decorativas por encima un hilo zero. La pata es la misma estandar que usan estas máquinas Pfaff.

    What do you recommend materials for car seats vinly or leather please?

  • @Cechaflo

    @Cechaflo

    2 жыл бұрын

    It depends on our budget and liking. Vinyl is cheap, natural leather is more expensive. I'd rather use a combination of fabric for central panels and vinyl for the other parts. Leather or vinyl heats up so much due to daily sunrays, or too cold in chilly days.

    @@FernandoMorales-xn1dc Ese papel es color café claro/marrón claro y lo utilizan también para envolver paquetes, pan, carne, etc. Trate de conseguir uno resistente, que no sea muy delgado. Se puede conseguir el papel en tiendas o papelerías donde venden material para manualidades, imprenta, etc. Ejemplo del papel: comavecolima.com/product/papel-cafe-1kg/

    Ok muchas gracias / ya vi es muy delgado / la cartulina si es más gruesa pero es más útil en las partes planas ya que en las curvas es algo difícil acomodar ahí seria algún papel más manejable verdad ?

    @@FernandoMorales-xn1dc Hay dos clases de moldeado: sobre una superficie plana que es lo mas simple y sobre una superficie abultada o irregular. Hay una técnica que muestro en el curso del asiento que tengo a la venta utilizando papel. En estos videos del youtube muestro una técnica para moldear directo: kzread.info/dash/bejne/h4ZktdpqdMvAeqQ.html En estos videos del descansabrazo (codera) hice el moldeado en vinil barato que luego se transfiere a la piel/cuero. En estos videos de un tablero utilizé papel:kzread.info/dash/bejne/rKmWstOjZsndmco.html

    No, it isn't.. It is a synthetic material mostly used for shoe manufacturing. It is like vinyl. Real leathers:kzread.info/dash/bejne/noaWk6WDlbayqag.html
