    FRAME ADVANTAGE DOES NOT MEAN YOU WILL HIT FIRST. I play with mods and robot, if I have spaced a slower move correctly then the opponent EVEN WITH FRAME ADVANTAGE will just be expediently attacking/moving into the range of my oncoming hit. Luckily YOMI has a lot of teleportation and i-frame moves.

    The way I use prediction is no matter what action I'm about to take, if I appear "Ready" before my opponent in the prediction I will no doubt be able to become actionable first, and that the opponent cannot do anything unexpected if their "Ready" hasn't showed up. Still, I don't understand much about the frame advantages and color indicators in this video, could you please explain again? Like when should I take action to fully benefit from the numbers/colors and when shouldn't I to avoid getting punished? A general rule of thumb for each color would be lovely.

    This video is pretty old now by my standards and I know a lot more about the game than when I made this video, so its not out of the question for me to remake it. Explaining how to play using the prediction system is not something I can summarize easily, but I'll explain some things that are simple enough. If the character turns green, they are actionable first. Or both players are actionable at the same time if they both turn green. Yellow means the character is actionable later than the other, even if by 1 frame. Turning yellow often happens if they use an action and the opponent becomes actionable before its complete or if they recover from hitstun after an attack or something. The moment a character changes to green or yellow marks WHEN they became actionable, but it doesn't mean that they are going to be actionable the whole time they are green/yellow in the prediction. If you toggle afterimages it will put little freeze frames of when their actionability changed. If they do not change color in the prediction, they do not become actionable in it. Frame advantage measures how many frames you have to act while the opponent cannot. After I attack and cause 30 frames of hitstun, the game will calculate how many frames of hitstun will remain afterwards if I perform an action that doesn't hit. If I spend 8 frames dashing for example, I will be told that I have +22 frame advantage. If I then use the prediction system for my attack that will cause 20 frames of hitstun, it will says I will get +20 frame advantage from landing that attack. However, if I would miss that attack instead and it takes 30 frames to perform, it will say -8 because my opponent will become actionable 8 frames before I finish. Does this help? Edit: There are specific moves that don't work properly with frame advantage, namely grab type moves. Stuff that has a special throw animation on hit. If someone tries to hit me, but I will become actionable 1 frame before it hits, it would say +1 Frame Advantage. Meaning I have 1 frame to act before I get hit. But if an attack uses a throw animation, it will say a big negative number that seems to correlate somehow to the length of the throw animation. The number displayed will not be helpful.

    @@YomiLearn Thanks for your effort! I'm starting to get used to making decisions based on colors more during my matches after your explanation. I think my rule of thumb is that I should (most of the time) be going for actions that leave me in the "green" state after performing them, which will always enable me to either act before or at the same time with my opponent, and this has been making my movements much more technical and organized than before.

  • @YomiLearn

    Depends on what you're doing to frame kill. If you're using basic ground movement to walk towards the shuriken, the exact moment you become actionable will change depending on your opponents action. I like to do little short hops instead.

    Sadly, my game does not work at 60 frames as it has a lot of performance issues. I tried working out on it but it is still a problem (even though it is a bit better now), it isn't my pc, but it could be my video card or something, idk.

    I'm confused by frame advantage still. So is the frame advantage number basically (all frames of your predicted move) minus (all frame of your opponents predicted move)? Or is it just counting startup frames? startup + action? Your definition of "how many more frames you have to perform your actions before your opponent can act" confuses me, because to me, that makes it sound like "at the start of the prediction, you are actionable x amount of frames sooner/later" - however, if that were the case, the number wouldn't change based on which move you selected. I'm assuming I'm just interpreting that sentence incorrectly. I guess it doesn't really matter because the prediction system is going to visualize it for me anyway, I just want to have a better understanding of that number. My current level of caveman knowledge is just "blue good red bad".

  • @YomiLearn

    @YomiLearn

    Жыл бұрын

    I'll give you some examples. If I try hit you with an attack that causes you 30 frames of hitstun, the prediction will say I have +30 frame advantage if the opponent does what I have selected. If I miss the attack because you did something unexpected and become actionable 15 frames before me, I will have effectively have -15 frame advantage. Stuff like knockdowns, landing on the ground, wallsplats, and wall bounces will all affect your frame advantage.

    @@YomiLearn ohhhh okay so the number given for frame advantage would be for AFTER your predicted actions take place? I had always assumed it was telling you your CURRENT frame advantage for BEFORE your actions take place. Makes so much more sense, thanks!

    hello, I want to ask something about how to deal with frame drops in yomi games. the problem is when I replay the battle, the fps that is displayed is 1-2 fps, but my laptop isn't really that bad. So, how to solve it?

    There is an option for playback speed that plays at normal speed, half speed, and quarter speed. If you don't see the playback control, press esc during a replay and turn on the option to view the playback control. See if it's set incorrectly.

    And I dont get how many frames does an action consider before pasing to the next action. For Example if u with robot use a move that have 5 start frames 5 hit frames 5 recovery frames. when i lock the move. The whole move will be executed or just a fraction and what fraction of the move is executed is 5-6 frames always for example

    The game will stop everytime someone becomes able to act. So if you use an action that takes 23 frames and your opponent uses one that takes 16, they will get a turn to act 7 frames before you can

    There are special cases where certain moves and genetic actions will let you interrupt to take a turn if your opponent has a turn.
