Lyrics:
My childhood was lover’s rock, rhythm and blues, dancehall,
Man used to go bonkers at playing conkers, pogs and playing marbles,
loved British Bulldog, Hide and Seek and Pass the Parcel, Street fighter, ‘round the time that
Wrighty Played for Arsenal,
Fast forward, Money up against the school yard wall, go home watch X-men and Marvel at hey
Arnold,
I was still a Virgin but all of my thoughts carnal, like can I hit your g spot baby throw it back to
Wayne Marshall, Dark horse, but was a sensitive child, temperament mild, never been wild,
rarely was riled, presentable while was never in style, man never had a Avi, wasn’t wavy and yet
I stood out, I was sweeter than Lyle’s golden syrup always a smile before the ends and my poor
choice of friends made me vile, life would’ve been different if I grew up in Chalfont St Giles, but I
grew up in KG, made me cagey, lucky that I always got home safely only know that looking back
on it now, saw my first strap at 15 I was just chilling at my pals, he let me hold it,oh, fucking ell,
that could’ve went south but to his credit took back cleaned it and wiped all down, he pulled
out a stack, I’d never even seen that amount, he said to roll with him so I rolled with him for a
bit then I bounced, naive to it all but that’s the kinda ting I was ‘round, the writing was on the
wall needed more than parkour to get out, I’m showing you how.
Good Youts Turn Foul,
Soft Kids Turn Shower,
I’m telling you how,
Sweet Boys Turn Sour,
My mum was around, my dad was around, raised me well, but soon as I come out the house,
Wow,
The zones got me with the influence
That’s how it is in most instances,
Where do we come from? North Weezy,
At the time growing up wasn’t easy, please believe me,
So even though the ends is picturesque and leafy,
Underneath the surface it is greasy different day same feces,
Started at school, Brent Cup, started at Ball, a hard tackle was the start of it all,
Friends on the side of the pitch starting to taunt,
now on the summer holidays see them at parties and war,
Them fun fairs weren’t fun affairs but were hard to ignore,
Stand by the bumper cars and screw the other side ‘til your bored,
Physically or mentally, then back to Kensal Green,
I coulda been a rest in peace in Kilburn times, many times, but it weren’t my time,
Lucky I was acting, I was early on my grind, early on in life, man were violating all my pride,
Thoughts were swirling and swirling, til there was murder on mind, good yout, but I was turning
to survive, end up purchasing a knife, next man to try a ting is getting chinged, laws of attraction
is a thing, as the universe would have it, man tried it went home and grabbed it, came back a
savage and tried to stab him, he jumped back and started Justin Gatlin, I chased him and tried to catch him, he’s lucky I never caught him, I’m lucky I never caught him, if I did I woulda have bored him, the karma that woulda bought me, been arrested by the morning, two sets of
parents balling, my mum woulda never thought it, thought I was chilling at Courtney’s,
Yeah I know that sounds sordid, but everything that I saw, did.
Good kids turn foul
Soft youts turn shower,
I’m telling you how,
Sweet Boys Turn Sour,
My mum was around, my dad was around, raised me well, but soon as I come out the house,
Wow.
The zones hit you with the influence
That’s how it is in most instances,
Yeah

Shame so many of our black kings are not doing so well. They all turn to the roads, whilst other ethnic minorities seem to work much harder in school. I wish our black king dads would also stick around. All my friends dads are no where to be seen. I find myself and my other black brothers eating fried chicken and chips and leaving the bones and boxes on the seats. I wish I was raised better and stopped playing the race card all the time. One day it will be better I’m sure.

4Real unfortunately I got caught up and spent a decade n a half sitting down. The bar about glad he never caught him though that's real shit. I know man that have been in HMP since they were teens. Now they been locked longer than they was alive before they got caged, 😢sad life. I'm blessed I got the chance to turn my life around, next year I've been out 10 years and i’ll be finishing my degree same year🙌🏾 Funny thing is I went back to the nerd, quiet book reading poetry guy I was before road took me. I stopped being scared and wanting to fit in and just became who I always was. You know before I put the bad man mask on. More youth need to embrace being themselves & forget the badness because they don't wanna be the guy/gyal buried alive in HMP or the reason ya parents cry cuz someone took you from the earth. Sorry for the rant have a blessed day/life ✌️🏾🫶🏾👊🏾

Oiiii naaah this is hard! Visuals, wordplay and subject! More from Bashy in 2024!
I dont care what anyone says this is UK rap classic. I'm 30 next week, Me and my friends from back home have used bashy quotes to greet each other for 15 years now.. From getting in trouble with the police as a kid, coming back from Afghanistan for the first time, my wedding and my mates meeting my kids for the first time......... " Demon!, demon wants to be man!" As trivial as that shit it is. It 's a good metaphor for how certain UK artists are in the background of so much of our lives. What a legend

This guy is so important. The scene he’s come from and the guys who he’s come up with are so important.
Really hope Bashy releases a new album. I just jumped on Spotify and rediscovered his catch me if you can album and played a song called "Life". Instantly transported back to my college days. Good times.

Listen to his chupa chups mixtape.
Crazy how strinkingly similar Bashy's 90s tv shows and playground games are - even down to the Wrighty reference - to a spoken word poem I started writing a couple weeks ago (finished the latter half of it yesterday). This spoke to a LOT of childhoods I'm sure! Great work from Bashy💯
Super talented guy. Good to have him back with his new flow. My partner and I recently watched 24 legacy. He played a very convincing role as an American gang leader, he absolutely killed it. Like I said, super talented. 🔥🔥🔥
Easily one of the best lyricist to come out of the UK. Very powerful stuff.
Bish Bash Bosh! The legend of back. Love this !
Thank you for bringing this type of rap back.
Deeep! Feelin' this man! Bless up!
Wow! One of the greatest to ever touch the mic. Just couple of weeks ago I had 4’oclock, random and kidulthood on replay for days! Thinking I wish Bashy would make a return and here he is! 💪🏿
Crazy seeing Bashy’s story. I remember having the Chupa Chups mixtape on CD, I bumped it every day back then. And then he did the soundtrack to Adulthood (I think?). That The Streets remix he did, yeah glad to say I was an early fan and saw the talent since he was on LotM.
These amazing joints need a Swiss ft… on a remix even Dave aswell…trust me it would be special. Real visionary wordplay. Big up bashy

Bashy the truth.no ego just bare facts!
It feels like Bashy is telling my story of me growing up. Both of my parents were around I was raised well, but when I was outside and you’re around different influences things change and at that time reputation matters it was easy to sucked in to negativity that looked cool. So when you see youngsters doing badness it’s not always the parents fault. It’s too easy to blame them.
BUMBOCLAAT!!!! EXCELLENCE!!!!
Love where bashy is in life. Really reflects his mind space. This was such a dope song man. Glad to see you back!
Jheeeezus Christ the BEST fücking tune I’ve heard outta the UK all year 💯 this is why we need the OGs in the game
Glad to see the return of this guy I know he ain't been idle but it's refreshing to see him rap again.
This is genuinely a masterpiece
JEEZ Bashy is back! Long long overdue! Amazing. Always spreading a message and one of our generations black voices!✊🏾👊🏾
🔥🔥🔥🔥🙏🏿 Black British excellence at it's best. It's so good to see you back, even for a.. mo on british soil. The world is your oyster..we are all so proud of you 👏🏿 🥰 ❤
An artist this good should of made more music for real this is top tier stuff
The realness is so authentic I rate this💯👊🏼🔥
Love the flashback vibes 🙏🏾
He has done so well. His acting in "Them" and "Black Cake" was outstanding.
This tunes is so big even the video hit's home too i went primary school right there next to that Brunel estate he's on i would get home from school Hey Arnold n thats jus the start of the song so much relatable bars in this man that was the times wrapped up in 1 song. Big up Bashy💯🙏 My era
Bish bash Bosh!!! Top 5 and nothings changed!
UK needed this 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Glad this guy came back man!, he’s always been a special talent and how he story tells and paints picture etc is top tier, this was needed and is a masterpiece 🔥
Big up Bashy, we need more tunes like this, the positive vibe is well needed 💯💯💯🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
