    Tips: don't desolder parts if you are not 100% sure that they're the cause(like mosfet in this video), use soldering iron instead of hot air gun so you don't damage plastic parts that are placed nearby(6:40), don't use soldering paste if not needed, use solder alloy instead, also don't heat up soldering paste without a placed component(wtf was 5:03?).

    the same that i thought, but i will add another tip...Dont introduce a high voltage like 12V, with just 1 or 2 volts and high current it will be enough to find the problem. If you put 12V you can damage IC's or even the PCB with the temperature that the damaged component can reach.

    Pro tip, voltage injection is done with low voltage , 1-2.5 maximum 5V, due to components like IC's power not been rated for more. overvolting some IC's can lead to false positive result aka heating up as they would be faulty.

    Yes your right but that's why he injected that voltage at the output where it's normal to have higher voltages right.?

  • @Boffin2002

    @Boffin2002

    7 ай бұрын

    Injecting that high voltage even where a high voltage is expected during normal operation can have an adverse impact if there's a fault. A lower voltage would still show up the short circuited component under a thermal camera or evaporating alcohol. The benefit of injecting a lower voltage is that there is less risk of damaging other components and PCB tracks. You still need to be cautious with the voltage and current limits that are set.

    @AKG58Z No, usually you apply a lower voltage on the main supply for ICs, infecting from the main output backward it might cause more components to fail. When I look for faulty ICs, I inject the minimum voltage for them to power up.

  • @Boffin2002

    @Boffin2002

    Correct - I agree that you would normally inject from input to output, I was specifically referring to what was being done here. injecting backwards is where you MAY cause additional problems if you inject that high/expected voltage. That’s why I suggested using a lower voltage if that’s what you were going to do. From input to output is different as you've noted but being cautious won’t cause too many problems.

    @@ErCanEverything I am watching these kind of stuff sometimes, and believe me they are not so innocent 😂 I was thinking the same, capacitor what could go wrong with them 😅 but every repairman checks them in their videos, and surprisingly in most times they are the culprit 😁 Also the voltage injection was a great idea!

    I had a kuula 65w it failed I open it and saw burns everywhere the main switching transistor was shorted as well as 4 resistors going to on it it's pin and then I started to check every smd capacitor and found one shorted at the output near type c jack/inductor I removed it and the transistor now the short is gone but I will have to replace these 3 things without knowing the other components condition so I didn't repair it, it shouldn't have killed itself if the output goes short due to the fact that it was not built right I didn't try to repair it. Great video by the way I like these kind of things alot.

    2 questions if you don't mind. What kind of probes are you using. Test probes. Your honest opinion on the larger finrisi cordless scope. I need a cordless scope but can't afford micsig prices when I have a super expensive rigol corded one. I'd rather pay 200 for a tablet scope then buy differential probes to protect either of my scopes.

    Good! All the best! Once again excellent video! As you suggested, when the “soft starter” for 20v with MOSFET for 20v DC angle grinder powered by battery with brush motor from Einhell, mod: TE-AG 18/115 LI, which burned the controller? I would like to know if it is possible, as I said, to present a schematic or create a circuit with said MOSFET for this purpose? Thank you very much, hugs!

    👍Exactly, please. My angle grinder burned out the controller, which is almost as expensive as the complete machine. When this peak starting voltage is turned on, it activates the 20v battery safety and it turns off. Thank you very much, hugs!🙂🤝❤@@ErCanEverything

    You just have to take a guess and replace it with something of the same size it's the easy way. The hard way is to have a same working circuit take the capacitor off and measure it with lcr meter.

    In that specific case, it would have the same value as the neighbor capacitor (the larger one). It can work without that capacitor, however it would stress the other 2 as they are in parallel, and they would fail sooner than expected.

    Mine is charging, but only with basic voltage/current. As soon as QC starts rising voltage it just turns of and fails changing. Then cycle repeats - restart, try to increase voltage, failure and reset.

    I can't see 100% but very unnecessary risk with plugging in and also connecting usb with it powered on, your fingers are very close to high voltage, this could have been done switching it on and off after. Maybe you did it because you're recording, but viewer should see your safety first. Maybe this is ok, but other cheap products are unsafe. Just my opinion.
