Good video with some good views, so let's keep on hiking. Poison ivy grow up the trees, poison oak is a bush.

Those Frooze snacks sounded good. So I'm heading out on my short shakedown hike tomorrow prior to heading back to the AT. Tomorrow's weather looks cloudy but the next day is going to be rain. I will test out my Embrace the Suck skills hiking back to the car in the rain! Regarding poison ivy, I'd hike in pants to protect my legs. I'd also look it up on the internet and then take a picture so you have it on your phone. The leaves are in groups of 3 and usually have a notch or two on both sides of the leaf. Usually it's a vine and a lot of times it climbs up trees. Enjoyed the trail today. John from MI

Poison ivy doesn't have highly "serrate" leaves (little saw tooth edges). They also don't have hairs, spines, or thorns on their stems. It's probably something like a blackberry. “As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly.” - Arthur Carlson.

At 12:50 not poison ivy. Looks like a wild berry vine. Neither were the first two. Find a picture on the internet and download it. While you are out, compare everything you're looking at to the picture and eventually you'll be able to identify without trouble. I've been allergic since a child so I can spot that stuff a mile away. Alcohol or soap and water will remove the oils from your skin to avoid the rash if done early enough. If I suspect I've been in contact with it on the trail, I use a little Dr Bronner's and wash my legs off. I have also used my hand sanitizer in a pinch. Dirt could be used if you know exactly where it contacted you. I do this in my yard when I've accidently grabbed it in my garden.... wash my hands with dirt. One last thing, you end up with the rash everywhere if the oils transfer to other items... clothing, quilt, etc then touch you somewhere else. Might help to wash your arms and legs before getting into your tent.

I was going to comment this. Yes it's either blackberry or a similar species. @Hiking with Braids Poison ivy is easily identifiable by looking at the symmetry on the 3-leaf cluster. The middle leaf will be symmetric along the middle leaf vein. The left and right leaves will not. But, the left and right leaves will be mirror images of each other! Once you spot that pattern, it stands out pretty easily.

Got my gear selected hope we can hike together....tell Jerry I say hello. Hope your having fun. I like when you talk about gear. I'm kind of a gear head and am wondering why that tent was leaking. Hope you can show me around your neighborhood. Jim

I swear when I get an alert about a HWB video I get excited, lol. Really enjoyed. I also love the Frooze Balls and take them out on hiking trips. I also thought about the air pump so will take a look at it. I’m like you that I enjoy hiking with my 2 gal pals but also enjoy being by myself as well. Listening to the nature sounds is like therapy for me. You will appreciate this I think. On the AT today, at the end of NY and met my first thru hiker of the season. A super nice guy. We gave him what snacks we had and he was very appreciative. he left GA mid February and already here at the end of NY 😱. Looking forward to your next video. Happy hiking vibes to you Gretchen 🤟🏻🥾⛺️🏔

Taking two dogs is a lot of effort. I hope the owner buries or bags out each and every turd each animal produces. No piles of crap left. The puppy is not yet ready for long trail times. Young dogs can be hurt going for too long on walks. They need walk time but not many miles.

FYI. None of your concern or business how many dogs I take out hiking or what I do with their poop. If you are going to be negative I suggest u get off social media. You are prob one of those wanna be hikers that lives vicariously thru others. Please find something constructive to do with your life.
