Nice one! How are they on attracting lint? That's always one of my main concerns with Silicone and why I stick to the more natural rubbers.

I always seem to have a *lint dilemma* with rubber straps in general, but in regards to the Barton: I'd say it's a 6/10 on the "Lint Magnetism" scale. Depending on what you're wearing, it'll attract lint regularly, but not enough to be frustrate or annoy those concerned. It's almost routine, after wearing a rubber strap out and about, that when putting my watch aside at the end of the day I'm consequently wiping lint it's accumulated. *6/10* - Average - not the worst/not the best.

Take Time, w/Patrick Marlett At least on a dive watch, all it takes is a quick rinse. For me I'll gladly trade the discomfort of stiff straps for lint issues on a soft one. Especially since I have smaller wrists, if a strap won't bend enough to conform to the shape of my wrist, it drives me nuts. These look like they should bend really well.

Good review. There is no issue for the light colored ones. I have the tan and cool gray and have been wearing them non stop and I don't see any lint on them at all. I can see the dark ones getting a little here and there but I'm just thrilled about having affordable rubber straps that tapers!

I purchased based on your review....fabulous in every way, perhaps the most comfortable strap I have ever worn in any material....period!

I just ordered several Barton Elite silicone straps in various colors including black, navy, smoke gray, and orange/black in 20 and 22 mm for my Samsung Geer S3 (22 mm) and Sport (20mm). Amazon just advised me that they shipped out. Can't wait to wear them.

I love the slight curve near the lugs. It helps curve around the wrist and makes them super comfortable

They're really good. I replaced my Huawei watch 2 band this week with a Barton elite. Really comfortable, looks good and doesn't attract too much dirt or lint. Quality strap too.

The waffle pattern is better than completely smooth because the waffle pattern creates texture, better design than smooth design and silicone is meant to be for fitness, swimming and just being casual. Silicone band is waterproof and supposed to release sweat better. The bottom part of the band isn't completely flat for a reason. It is contoured to make it more breathable and release the sweat or water. Other silicone bands may have treadmill or holes similar that what we see with Apple watch. Silicone straps don't really look right with a dress watch. Silicone band does work well with sport watches, dive watches, casual watches, military watches, etc.... Flat design? Flat design has no design, looks pretty cheap and generic that you would see on the ebay cheap bands. Barton did it right with this Elite Silicone Strap.

I just looked up your review after putting one of these Barton Elite black 22mm straps on one of my dive watches for the first time. Hands down it is the best dive strap I have ever worn. Your review is spot on!

I can’t wait to get these straps for my Hamilton Khaki Pilot Pioneer! I wanted to get silicone now bc I noticed that nylon straps after a long day of trekking the city tend to have a little smell to them after being out and sweating a whole lot. I don’t take my watch to the pools or to dive at all, so long as I can give the straps a quick rinse and they’ll be good as new and no smelly smells on straps is all I care about. Barton straps, my respects! Their priority is customer satisfaction! In this time of pandemic I ordered straps from different companies including Barton. All got delayed, only Barton replied and offered a refund or another courier delivery with no extra charge. Just to check I asked for a refund and immediately I got a refund. Amazing! Other companies just used the excuse of covid 19 and don't even talk about a refund. For straps, only Barton!

I just put one on my Sumo. After having the watch on a one piece Zulu and thinking it was the perfect solution, I might be reconsidering. It does attract particles but the comfort and taper are excellent. The locking keeper is genius!

I have a canvas strap from Barton and its easily the most comfortable strap I own. Looking to pick up a few more so thanks for the review!

Good to see them accommodate larger wrist sizes. Diamond tread, Seiko waffle, and radial tire tread patterns would be awesome on these straps. The current pattern Barton is using was probably just a basic starter that can match most styles. But I imagine Barton will expand this line of straps greatly in the near future. Custom ordering of different hardware options would also be nice.

in regards to the pattern, a smooth finish will attract more lint, if that matters to anyone, Barton does make a smooth rubber strap, but it doesnt have all the little details this does

The locking mechanism is a Timex thing. It's a great feature as I can say from experience owning a few Timex Ironmans.

I have several of the original straps which I have really liked, I now have two of the new ones which I like much better. The keeper Is a nice addition but I agree on the textured finish I would leave out. I also wish more of the secondary color was visible on the sides.

All my divers go onto Barton Silicone straps .So comfortable it's unreal.

I love these straps I have one on my Seiko SSC667. I originally purchased the strap for my STO Samurai but like you said the head of the pins was a little too small for the lugs in that bad boy. It worked but I was afraid it was gonna slip off.

I agree about the waffle finish, the under side of the strap looks more svelte and stylish. Wyler Vetta ? Would love to hear more about that watch .

Good review but after a couple of months, they begin to attract lint and lose that smooth silky feel from when they were new. Not as bad as some other silicone straps but still not great. I still wear them but don't like them as much as I did when new. If they could solve that problem long term, I'd be thrilled. And since you're referring to it as a "locking keeper" why not call the nib on the keeper a key? And Timex expedition watches have had this on some of their resin straps for at least ten years. I'd like to see a dimpled golf ball pattern as well as smooth. And I already contacted Barton and suggested a mustard yellow and black version but they said they had no plans for one at this time. But they are still a fantastic company to deal with. And I agree, I'd also like to be able to choose pins with a larger diameter to be able to fit Seiko fat boy lug holes or maybe they could sell the spring bars with larger pins separately. Simple arithmetic (13x5) gives you 65 possible variations with colors and buckle finishes. And for the record, packaging is not marketing. Advertising and promotion is marketing and since these items are not found in a store, the packaging really has no marketing function per se since you've already made your purchase.

I've got the canvas smokey grey strap,6 months wear now and its holding up comfortable and strong .downside the colour is fading fast gone from light grey to a milky whitewashed grey.

I might have to try a 18 mm version for my 1963 seagull.

Looks great. Long term durability review on these straps? I mean for the price you can't expect much but would be interested in your thoughts after having it for a while.

Just ordered one for my SKX013 because of your review. How can you go wrong this quality for $20? I actually quite like the texture on the strap, reminds me of what Cartier did on their diver.

I haven't noticed any discomfort while wearing this during any physical activities (jogging around NYC or cycling). It hasn't been hot out for a while here, so I can exactly make comments in regards to how it's performed in hotter climates (as of yet).

Nice! I really like that last keeper that does what it's suppose to.. Keep! the end tidy, that is. Very cool how it locks into a slot near the end of the strap and it will hold and be in the perfect place to keep the end secure. I would love to see such an end keeping system in more straps, as you say. However, on leather or canvas strap options, for example, you couldn't have the keeper be the same material.. would probably need a metal keeper with a little nib on the inside to secure a matching hole near the end of loose strap end. That's how i would see such a system working on a non-rubber 2-piece strap option. What is it exactly about the waffle pattern? If it were like the uncle seiko style of waffle patterning, would that be beter. The main difference is this pattern is more recessed below the surface of the strap, if you know what I mean, where as uncle seiko's is above. Perhaps the small tighter waffle pattern of this strap is also less appealing aesthetically compared to say the uncle seiko waffle strap which has fewer "pyramids" that are scaled wider to cover. If you know what I mean. I know there is a difference in such waffle pattern because I own a cheap rubber strap I got a long time ago that has this exact type of tight recessed waffle texture. It looks OK, but I have to say I am never really thrilled to put it on any of my dive watches.. just something about it doesn't impress, unfortunatley.. I suspect this may be the case with these Barton rubber straps in your review. Anyways, thanks for a look at these. Overall they could have had a perfect rubber strap option BUT!..

I love that pattern on the band. I have four barton bands. I would mix the colors up, but my OCD won't let me. Lol.

Which color between orange would fit to the alpinist. What do you think? I love aqua blue but i'm not sure...

A few would work... I think the brown, orange, (smoke) grey, white, black, black/red & black/green all would work nicely.

Hi, thanks to this video I bought this strap and I admit that is so awesome for the money and it worth every penny. So well made. The only cons I see is that it comes with small spring bars, on my sumo they feels a little bit wobbly until I wear the watch. Do you think that this could be a problem?

Near the end of the video, I do state that these are not meant for larger diameter lug holes (namely Seiko). I’d recommend them for use on a watch with smaller, spring bag holes.

Would be nice if they had some kind of securing fiber in there just in case the silicone rips. Also a silicone zulu with their keeper hole system would be nice :)

Love the design, but too thin for my tastes. 9/10 for me. I have since gone to Crafter Blue for my silicone straps and couldn't be happier. They are pricey for sure, but worth it.

Pat- How do the smaller QR spring bars work with the larger Seiko lug holes? Is there too much play?

yeah so much play with that "clicky noice". i do have canvas straps from barton it does feel great but the only downside is the spring bar is quite small for my skx. SO what do i do is take off the quick release and replacing with original skx spring bar.

This will not perform well within the larger diameter lug holes of the Seiko divers. It will fit too loosely inside the lugs. *Correct,* wouldn't recommend these for use with an SKX up to Marine Master. Not until they start making larger, QR pins... Something that they should strongly consider.

So this video is about 2 years old and Barton never made the Elites available without the waffle pattern. Odd that I came across this video as I was shopping their straps today, I want the Elites for the keeper, but I do not like the pattern either. I was thinking of going down to the soft silicone models but they offer no keeper. My guess is they want to keep 2 lines going. If they offer the keeper on the Soft Silicone you don't need the Elite. If they take the waffle pattern off the Elite then you don't need the Soft Silicone line. Too bad, I was ready to buy but at am at a stalemate looking for an alternative.

How does this compared with other expensive rubber straps like Hirsch and crafterblue?

Not a huge fan of Crafterblue... It holds up well! I think if you’re interested in an affordable, QR system this is still one of the best options available.

The lug width is 23mm? ... I hate to say it, but I would advise looking for a different strap at that point. These are made for those precise proportions, so one will be too large and the other entirely too short for your use.

My strap had no three pieces and no extra keeper hole. It was no elite model. BUT it fits perfectly though I have a small wrist.

I love these straps and the only thing they need to do is add a bright yellow color !!!

I had the brown/khaki one, and even though it looked very cool, after a year the color degrade so much it looked more greenish than brown.

It’s on the Omega genuine alligator strap of the Omega Grey side of the moon….wow! Does it work.

I’ve never bought or used any rubber straps before. They tend to look cheap and I’ve always imagined them being uncomfortable to wear. I may give one of these a try. They definitely don’t look nearly as nice to me as a nice leather strap or a brushed steel bracelet but I do see plenty of people using rubber straps so I suppose I should give them a try. I tried to get into nylon nato straps but I just can’t. They tend to be scratchy and uncomfortable to me and I don’t like the way the keepers stick out.

A black and red strap is on the way for my Pepsi Samurai. Was thinking how this same strap would pair with the Alpinist. Any views Patrick?

That same Crimson/Black style would go well with the Alpinist. Khaki/Orange/Black/White/Smoke Grey or Army Green would do well in pairing too.

Oh, from the thumb? I vintage Wyler/Vetta, with the unknown utility of detaching itself from the back case, haha. Very odd little timepiece.

I would give it an 8/10 I think tthese straps could be a bit thicker. Also the pins feel a bit flimsy.

BRASIL CONGRATULATIONs BAND BARTON SILICONE

These straps are very comfortable. But what they gained in comfort, they sacrificed in durability. I would definitely consider these as more of a "fashion" strap and not a true diver or "work worthy" strap. The quick release, while handy, is great for easy installment but not great security. And almost everyone that has a negative complaint about these straps, it's about the holes tearing. They tear because the rubber is so THIN. Again.....great comfort, but not great durability. I would wear these strap out to lunch on a casual short day. But as a native of Soflo, I would use them to dive or even snorkel or swim. They are just too flimsy and untrustworthy. My rating: 6. Use then for looks and not utility.

Yeah, like these probably go well with smart watches but it's silicone rubber, rather than vulcanised, so they don't have the butch presence required for most sport or military watches (ie a Marathon diver) unfortunately.

It depends... I regularly wear both... I prefer the ZuluDiver for the "Tropic" look, but the Barton is far more practical... They're both great. I have the (a couple of the) Barton on my C. Ward 38mm Trident Pro and the ZuluDiver on my W/V always.

Yeah, except they don’t make any Garmin compatible straps/bands. Given the notoriety and reputation of Garmin, this product lack by Barton is ridiculous.

I received the Elite Silicone today for my 40mm watch. Unfortunately, even the longer band is too short for my 7 and 5/8 in. wrist. I will be returning it. Disappointed.

The black version is available in an extra long size as well if you're interested...

I bought a Barton Elite and it cost me a watch less than 48 hours later. That's because the silicon strap is evidently made in 2 pieces -- top and bottom -- and it separated at the spring bar.. The watch came crashing down to the pavement -- spring bar still attached; sapphire crystal smashing into a zillion pieces, hands flying off, movement DOA and dial dented. Total loss. I've always liked Barton until that happened. Not now.

The waffle is the whole point of this strap, if you want a smooth silicone strap then get one of those.

You'd be stupid to wear a quick release strap for diving, so no need to talk about any wetsuits etc :D
