Music to accompany your worst nightmare! I didn't think it could get creepier but then the chorus came in out of nowhere and I had to go hide under the table. Wonderful and dread inspiring orchestral music. Thank you Bartok!

After listening to this again, i realised that they are playing the original version of the piece WITHOUT all the cuts that Bartok made. For instance, 24:10 to 25:16 is heavily cut in the revised version and this original uncut version is EXTREMELY RARELY played

Great performance and of course fantastic piece, and to me the first time I heard the entire piece. I'm used to 19 minute version and I probably have to get used to this version as, to be honest, I find the 15 minutes following rather boring and not really adding anything, except the choir part, that was nice and it also fizzles out at the end while the 19-minute version ends on a spectacular high. Ah well, give it a few more listens.

This what happens when a classical composer tries too hard. It's not enjoyable and it wasn't even innovative. Every single musician in that orchestra can make better music all by themselves. In other words... this was a waste of an entire orchestra.

Sorry, but I completely disagree. I would apply your description to many atonal or 12 tone compositions, but this work, although dissonant, is not atonal. I find Bartok's two violin and piano sonatas much more difficult to listen to than this work. This is a fantastic performance for those who can appreciate this work.
