De slechte audio met slechts 1 microfoon was irritant en een gast als Douglas Murray onwaardig . Het gesprek, daarentegen, was zeer interessant samen met het aandeel van Bart De Wever over de Vlaamse situatie . Douglas Murray is een geweldige spreker in een prachtig Engels die onze cultuur verdedigt op haar kwaliteiten zonder blind te zijn voor haar fouten . Het feit dat hij veel van de wereld heeft gezien maakt dat hij kan vergelijken en zijn intelligentie en belezenheid maakt dat hij argumenten goed kan overbrengen . Zijn woorden aan het einde waren mooi en een pleidooi voor nuancering ipv zwart-wit denken .

Amateuristische audio (en eigenlijk ook video & belichting), wel fantastisch dat deze zeer relevante intellectueel naar Antwerpen is gekomen!

inderdaad, een beetje zwammen over wie er allemaal geweest is en dan deze audio ramp. Jezus, podcasts met drie volgers hebben betere audio.

I am from Belgium, flemish and I can say from my point of view that Bart De Wever is one of the most prominent, intelligent politicians of Flanders. I admire him just as I admire Douglas Murray. You like them or you hate them and I like them. I do not allways totally agree with them but they make me feel ignorant to a level that I want to look further for information. Those who hates them are those who think they know best and do not like beeiing sentured by them. Well I learn from them to aknowledge my lack of info and judgement and to keep my mouth shut till I have my facts straight instead of opening it before I educate myself listening to smarter people and make a fool of myself.

That's a matter of opinion.. Too bad he doesn't do anything serious about curbing the drugtrade and inherent violence it brings forth in Antwerp.. The profits of drugtrade, parts of it to be precise, end up in the hands of islamic terror organizations via zakat.. This is the islamic equivalent of charity. Just like at least 85% of the US and EU donations to the palestinians that end up in the hands of hamas & co.. It's also a pity that your party doesn't seem to know which direction to take in the Belgian political landscape: either truly supporting the Flemish cause together with Vlaams Belang within a confederal system or sharing the bed with the socialists which will only widen anddeepen the crevice of islamism into which Flanders is slowly but surely falling..

Great talk. Douglas is very witty. Maybe a bit of a contradiction that we should not feel guilt for what our ancestors did wrong but take pride (as it is not just luck) in what our ancestors got right.

Not really contradictory: we are building on the great achievements of the past, looking at liberty values, democracy values, human rights values, technology, science,… In general, we try to keep the good things and try to learn from our mistakes. We skipped slavery, we’re more sensible for racism and discrimination, and so on. This is rather a slow process, but we’re going more fast than most of other civilizations. Compare for example to Islamic civilizations: we don’t see the same (intention to) progress at all, because they stick to their religion rules which dictates they are the perfect and final instructions for eternity, which became quite backward in modern times and societies.

Socialisme heeft goed zijn werk gedaan. Begin jaren 90, zat ik in de basisschool. Als kind kon ik niet geloven hoeveel kritiek de leerkracht had op de westerse beschaving. Terwijl de allochtonen hierdoor veel minachting kregen voor België. Ook door hun opvoeding hoor. De kruistochten waren slecht terwijl de jihad goed was. Ongelooflijk.

A great painter or artist, Rex Whistler, who died I think Murray said on his first day fighting in Normandy in 1944. Another great British artist, a superb young poet and one of the very few British poets to make an impact in WW2 (there have been several notable poets from WW1) was Keith Douglas (Douglas being his second name, his surname). Keith Douglas (who was also very capable at drawing) died in the countryside in Normandy in I think mid- or late June of 1944, his tank unit having been in battle with those Germans again. From a biography about him, written in the late 1980s, he was caught by a shell burst in the trees; when his body was found there was quite remarkably no mark on him. He was only twenty-four years’ old. He had had such a promising future. He had already fought in North Africa. He wrote a brilliant memoir of his desert campaign, Alamein To Zem Zem. But according to the Norton Anthology of English Literature, Sixth Edition Vol 2, “His subsequent achievement as a poet …, was to celebrate the last stand of the chivalric hero. His poem ‘Aristocrats’ ends up perhaps with a distant echo of Roland’s horn, sounded in the Pass of Roncevalles at the end of the twelfth-century French chivalric epic The Song Of Roland. Douglas’s poem succeeds where most of the would-be heroic poems of 1914 and 1915 fail. It is sharply focussed, acknowledging both the stupidity and the chivalry, the folly and the glamour of cavalrymen, on mechanical mounts duelling in the desert. Douglas’s language, finely responsive to his theme, fuses ancient and modern: his heroes are ‘gentle’ - like Chaucer’s ‘verray parfit gentil knight’ - and at the same time ‘obsolescent.’ “ My first encounter with Keith Douglas’s poetry was in 1991, when I was given a very perceptively delightful poem Tea In An Egyptian Garden (I am sure the title of it is called). A few of his other poems are ‘Gallantry’, ‘Vergissmeinnicht’ both like the two previously mentioned by me written in 1943. His poetry deals with war. I suppose I have mentioned this poet because his was a talent cut short. He was probably covered in British universities as late as the 1990s. But he is little known today. My interest was sparked again recently when I read a book on D-Day by one of Britain’s top military historians James Holland who, to my surprise, covers a fair few pages on the circumstances of Keith Douglas’s death, naming him several times, and describing the location of his death down to the farmer’s field. This was a in a very recently published book. Douglas came from a military family and he was in the thick of the action. Hence his inclusion in Holland’s book in some detail. What a brave poet! Anyway, I feel that all our great art and poetry needs to be enlivened in discourse whenever possible to help the poor old West manoeuvre better in our age of self-loathing. The book by James Holland is called Brothers In Arms. It’s the history of a British tank regiment from D-Day to VE-Day. Published in 2021, so new.

I came by chance on this video pitty that the audio is to bad for such an important speech. I do follow Murry for a long time and he is highly informed. Belgium should listen a bit more to people like him and his books are great and full of things one can reason on.

Thierry Baudet van het Nederlandse FvD/Forum voor Democratie , is geweigerd door de UG/Universiteit Gent. Ondanks dat hij een luciferaan pur sang is , vind ik dit onterecht. Zeker weten. Enkel Belgie en Vlaanderen doet mee aan deze niet-democratische exclusie. Zelfs in NL heeft de PVV onder voorwaarden mee mogen regeren. Polen heeft het zitten na 8 jaar rechtse regering , Tusk heeft ze in de maling genomen. Hongarije , Estland , Finland , Zweden , Italie , hebben een rechts blok. Spanje , Griekenland , Slovakije , en veel anderen leunen naar een rechts blok. Dit zou ons hier in Belgie en Vlaanderen wat ademruimte geven. Van binnenuit zal er niks structureels of permanent veranderen.

Nee, Murray is consistent conservatief, Vlaams Belang is meestal economisch links, wat ik wansmakelijk populistisch vind. Vlaams Belang is een stem voor de boze Vlaming die verandering wil, maar als je onafhankelijkheid wil zonder overleg met de Walen dan ben je iets te radicaal of revolutionair voor een conservatieve partij. Zelfs al ben je enorm overtuigd van de zaak, het moet correct en democratisch verlopen. Ik ben wel benieuwd naar jouw verantwoording. Waarom leunt hij dichter aan tegen het Vlaams Belang?

​@@lander681 Ik had het over sociocultureel vlak natuurlijk, daar gaat "woke" voornamelijk over niet economie. Lees zijn boek uit 2017; The strange death of Europe. Daar uit hij kritiek op migratie en het opnemen van nieuwere volkeren die niet compatibel zijn met het westen, wijst ook op de gevaren van Islam. In dat boek is hij niet echt optimistisch over de toekomst van Europa of het westen en duidelijk dat hij niet gelooft in het multiculturele sprookje. Is ook vaak spreker geweest bij wat links hier zou omschrijven als "extreem rechts". Genoeg interviews van hem te vinden op youtube. Uitroepen van onafhankelijkheid via vlaamse regering is meer realistisch dan te praten met de PS of de nog extremere partijen waar Walen tegenwoordig op stemmen...

@@kenpe1455 De Wever is niet voor een multiculturele samenleving, hij wil juist mensen opnemen in onze samenleving. En het gaat niet alleen over wat de meest realistische weg naar zelfbestuur is, maar ook over wat het meest wenselijk is. Ik zou me niet kunnnen vinden in een beweging die de democratie ondermijnt en die geen draagvlak heeft. Begrijp me niet verkeerd ik wil een onafhankelijk Vlaandren, maar niet ten koste van alles. Ik moet wel bekennen dat ik niet zo heel bekend was met Douglas Murray en ik had niet op je oorspronkelijke reactie moeten reageren. Ik wou meer bedoelen dat NVA meer consevatief was dan VB, maar Murray is misschien niet het schoolvoorbeeld van iemand consevatief. De Wever zal je idd niet makkelijk horen zeggen dat Islam niet compatibel is met het westen.

What do you mean with 'we'..!? What about the islamic north africans who invaded Spain and remained there for a couple of centuries..!? The difference is, Europe has done more good for Africa then vice a versa.. We gave them infrastructure, schools, hospitals, tropical disease control, etc.. It's not out fault if these countries are infested with radical islam, corruption, traditions that hold up modernity, patriarchal power abuse, superstition,.. Etc... After the decolonization they had the choice: go back to their own traditional ways of life or the western way. How we treat animals is what future generations will look back on with horror. A lot of us do already. But the panel would undoubtedly dismiss veganism ie stopping the abuse of animals and reducing the obesity crisis in one fell swoop, in a heartbeat.

Eating meat is causing the obesity crisis?? 😂 If the obese would cut down on sugar intake: coke!, cakes, chocolate, SUGAR.....( check every nutrition information label on everything they buy) then there would be no more need for 2XL-5XL in shops. As someone who was somewhat overweight, I experienced that 'miracle'!!!

Concern for animal welfare is valid. The solution does not have to be veganism. A vegan diet heavy with sugar and other refined carbohydrates in XXL portions is more likely to result in obesity.

Bovendien is er op vlak van stemrecht ook niet gediscrimineerd tegen Vlamingen in het bijzonder. Al wat er veranderd is, is een emancipatie van de lagere klassen, zoals die overal in Europa moest plaatsvinden, plus een emancipatie van de Vlaamse/Nederlandse taal. Alles wat u zegt doet er trouwens niet toe, want de emancipatie heeft plaatsgevonden. Zielige wraakgevoelens waarbij België tot in de eeuwigheid schuldig is, is exact wat Murray en De Wever WOKE noemen. Dat is mijn punt. Bedankt om het te bewijzen.
