@@paulfitzpatrick6536Never met Mr Humphries but feel I lost a good friend when the news broke he passed away - He will be sorely missed
Now, sadly, that brilliant mind has left us... However, he leaves behind a treasure trove of recorded brilliance for us and future listeners, who will soon become ardent fans. RIP Barry... you will be missed.
Most wonderful man and actor. And the most brilliant Dame Edna.🙏💥🙏
As a fella who worked hard for my master degree and who has little time for honorary degrees.... I will take exception for this amazing fella. An Aussie legend. RIP Barry, you were clever, wise and hilariously funny and much loved
What a gift to the world this brillant and fearless soul was.
Brilliant man 😢
One word.....Genius ⭐️ I met Barry last year & how incredibly grateful I was & am ⭐️ Rip Barry & thankyou Doctor for all the Joy ❤ Very best wishes & love Faith ⭐️🍾
Wait for the wonderful monologue that Barry performs in the second half of this video. It is poetry unforgiven, and a true delight. This wonderful rendition of Barry Humphries' life gives us a history of not only his life, but of all the comedy institutions that he created. He is a true genius of acting, satire, pathos and comedy. We are blessed by his works. He is now gone, but never forgotten. Thank you Barry.
As classy as you get! The Melbourne bloke is going places! Made me laugh as usual! ❤ from Liverpool!
I had the pleasure of taking this gentleman from his hotel in Sydney to an engagement at Rushcutter's Bay he was always colourful in his dress to say the least - Thoroughly polite through out the journey - He was one of many Australian personalities I got to briefly meet while driving the taxi's in Sydney He is and will always remain one of our greatest living treasures
He deserved the honour. He is very clever and perceptive, and has made a lot of people laugh. Well done Barry.
Oh my .. what a poem! He has a brilliant mind.
His speech was very moving. He meant every word. 🧡🌿
So disappointed Dame Edna has never moderated the U.S. Presidential Debates. She'd be perfect!
Such wit! Love him/her!
I could listen to barry humphries anytime.

It takes a rare talent and a way too overlong speech to make Brilliant unique Barry Humphries seem boring
He is scathing and a lot of it went right over the heads of the presenters, and most of the audience. His hat doffing is hilarious. I lived in Australia from the end of '63 to the end of '68 and he nailed it.

Great poem about growing up to have an amazing life!
What a talent.
Brilliant
I absolutely adore how he puts Melbourne in its place. No one else has done that in the whole nation in the way Barry did right until the end. That was 1994 but even in 2023 he put the Melbourne state government back in its place by refusing their disingenuous state Funeral offer. His family - on his orders - refused it. He was always so right about Melbournian self-righteousness and completely inane self-image. They don’t call it Melboring for nothing!

@@anthonyleddin8055 not envious at all!! Humphries was from Melbrourne and his estimation speaks louder than your own projections onto me. I’ve never lived in Melboring, nor would I want to, so this isn’t about ME- but-BORING-ol-you my little Melboringer!
The world needs Entertainers & Barry is 4 of the best, Edna is a global superstar and while posh people are disgusted by Sir Les Edna is having lunch at Buckingham palace making The Queen wet herself she lifts people who play along and destroys people who don’t 😂
That was brilliant
We love her in circles of London.
Adorable little Mite! He is!!

A diamond.
Gosh . How nervous he seemed!
Dear Barry is all i can say except for Hooray!
It’s the same old, employed comedy needed by any University, this speak’ is for the graduates and parents. Actor’ness. Wake up folks. It is the way, given to famous people, but some are deserved.....
Quite a brilliant speech contrasting starkly with the lame introduction..lay-dah, lay-dah.

Oh yes, crediting Lionel Bart's "Maggie Way" and Spike Milligan's "Red Sitting Room". He was reading it out from notes too. Maybe someone sabotaged them. For those of tender years, they were actually "Maggie May" and "The Bedsitting Room" respectively.
Also, wow. Friends with the great Spike Milligan.

Interesting that Australian politics was already turning authoritarian in 1994. Covid was just an opportunity - never let a good crisis go to waste.

Given he's been on TV, in film, and on stage, doing comedy in front of audiences for 60+ years - yeah, he's been drawing attention to himself - that's what performers do, has no one told you ? - performers like people watching them perform, yeah, I know it sounds crazy, but there you are...

i am sure a little of Spike Milligan's brilliance rubbed off on many of todays brilliant comedians ,Spike taught us that a little insanity is wonderful
There is always something a little too perverse about Bazza, but he managed to develop a talent from truth rarely so well held.

Marvelous man the message never changes laughter love are the things to cherish not power and control that make people geluse. To care to love to honor to mend to bring joy and sumtimes offend these are the important things in life. NOT war NOT violence NOT sexual abuse.
