What a blow, broke my heart to hear of his passing.... we lose a century worth of knowledge and jazz practice. RIP friend.
The Truth. The Master. Thank you for sharing.
This man changed my life, my thinking, my playing.
What a presence… May your soul live on forever in our hearts. We love you Barry. We love you so much
Barry Harris had helped me understand Jazz better than any books I have ever read on that subject...True living legend..
Among his already numerous awards I believe Dr Barry should be acknowledged as an inventor and should receive a Noble prize. Yes the Barry Harris System with his 6th diminished scale and other nuggets is the most powerful and logical system for harmonic analysis and melodic construction on the planet.
Barry getting the tears coming out of me. God bless this master! I've learned so much from him. #DisciplesOfBarry
I don't know why this made me so emotional, I'm not an emotional guy and I don't even play jazz piano but this really hit me hard. Thank you Barry.

@Jayden D'Costa you're human. Jazz and Dr Barry Harris are human stories we can all imagine when we hear them, even if we can't relate to them through shared experience. They are gifts to all of us.
It's insane how much Barry Harris has given the world through his influence. Absolutely goated.
Barry is a true Master. His wisdom and humanity has been a huge influence on me from way back when I didn't even know that I didn't know!
RIP Mr. Harris. 🙏🏻 And thank you. 💙
Wow he's so lucid and well-spoken at 90. Love that Powell was mentioned here too. I regret that I will probably never meet this man.

When I look at most people that are 90, I fear aging. Seeing Barry Harris like this is inspiring, and it makes me want to stay healthy and sharp so I can be like him.

It‘s never to late to discover … 👍🏻
To God be The Glory...we had a talented black man who lived on this planet, an accomplished pianist, who traveled all over and racked up so many accomplishments, who was of truth and transparency, and never acted like a rockstar he taught people, and forced people to learn as much and all of what he knew. Rest. In. Power. 🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️
I think my favorite Barry phrase is “it’s all right here”, he says gesturing at the keys on the piano after he plays something unspeakably beautiful
What a legend this men is! He is one of the most important figures in today’s culture of music, one of the last apostles of real, honest and true music.A saint of jazz
I remember when the $66,000 was raised for Barry. I cried. To see how so many people showed so much love for Barry moved me tremendously. When I found out about his Zoom classes, I jumped right in. I didn't know how long we would have Barry, but I didn’t want to miss a moment. Being in his home town makes him even more special to me. Long live Barry's legacy and teachings, and may he rest in power forever.
Barry Harris is an utter force of nature. He encapsulates the beautiful unstoppable force of swing. He’s the heartbeat of all of us who love the music. He’s the greatest evangelist and teacher we have ever had and up there with his heroes as a player.
May God continue to richly bless you Dr. Harris.
so rude to cut him off i would've listened to him for another hour or two. prime content
Charlie Dizzie and Bud were inonvators true enough, but it didn't stop there and he thinks it did . Jazz has evolved so much.
Thank you ❤️ for uploading this one!🙏
He looked like an elderly Mos Def here. Rest easy sir!

Beautiful. Thank you, Barry! You are the only person I can think of worthy of a $66K ride, and doubtlessly much more. All the billionaires in this world can't hold a candle to you. Thank you.
True Maestro
I wonder what the reason is that Barry likes Keith Jarrett, but wouldn’t let us know

I was hoping this was part of some larger Jazz government, but it's still good.
Oh I have so many questions for the master sensei Barry. In the Barry Harris YT video called "Confirmation"..towards the end with the tenor, could he go and start with the triplet and carry on with the line back into ending the phrase with another triplet? I'm trying lol😆
he's right about the modes in jazz.jazz of his definitions are two fives mostly. they belong to "modal jazz" but i wonder how he'll tackle nardis with that Em going to F, thats a classic mode.

Yikes!
I don't agree with all his teachings...some of them unclear...based on ego.
