Barrett's Privateers/Molly Malone, Alan Doyle Trio w. Bruce Guthro, Damhnait Doyle, Stuart Cameron

Музыка

What a night at Halifax's famed Lower Deck Pub during CCMA Week! Alan and his awesome AD Trio-mates Cory Tetford and Kendel Carson put on a spectacular 2-set pop-up show for a jam-packed house at the same pub he got his Mainland start in with Great Big Sea more than 2 decades ago. And to make the night even sweeter - and all the more fun for all involved - a few dear friends came up onto the LD stage to join Alan and his mates for a few fitting-to-the-occasion tunes. I love all the professional well done versions of this song, but this is how it was supposed to be sung. Half drunk in a pub with your mates! This is perfection.

This Yank is guessing that it's a requirement if you want to move to Nova Scotia you have to know the lyrics to Barrett's Privateers: they stop you at the border and sing "oh the year was 1778" and if you don't respond "how I wish I was in Sherbrooke now" they kick you out.
