This is real humor 😄😄 I always loved Barneys comebacks.

This is so funny! Especially when Andy says, "If you was to ever play a game of ping pong by yourself I wish you'd let me know cause that I've got to see!" And then Barney got a little annoyed and aggravated like he sometimes does. Andy is so funny here too! The way Andy's always picking at Barney is just so entertaining! That's true friends right there! Because Barney picks at Andy sometimes too. Just not in the same way.

Barney really makes the show

Without a doubt the greatest television show of all time. You can still watch it daily some 60 plus years later. Rest easy Mayberry cast. You have brought laughter to millions.

I play chess with myself. Either I have no friends, or it's a great mental exercise.

You can play ping pong by yourself. Just set half the table up against a wall (or chair if on a bigger table like a pool table back in the day).

That was from the episode the inspector. I liked Andy asked Barney about his checker games. Barney said won 2and lost 2. Barney didn't think it was funny when Andy said open up the mail, maybe you wrote yourself a letter.

Me too!

A lot of the dry, subtle humor on this show gets overlooked. "As you probably heard, we were separated awhile when Elmer went out on parole, but thank heavens, he's back with us and we're all together again." They didn't put the laugh track on it, but I think that's a really funny line.

It’s hilarious! There was a little chuckle there. Andy Griffith did not care for the laugh track, so the producers used it sparingly

Learning a trade. How great is that????!!!

I liked the episode when Opie and his friends befriended a hobo, and Barney used a checkers game to distract Opie, and get him to confess that he took the pie from his house. It was even better when Andy asked him, "Dud you take a apple pie from the refrigerator?!" When Plus admitted it, Andy replied, "There's some other things missing about town, like a turkey, a ham and some other things. Don't reckon you'd know nothing about them."

Actually, with strict rules (strongest immediate move, etc), it's very easy to play checkers, or any similar game, against yourself. How do you think such games were invented? In fact, computer game programmers spend hundreds of hours playing their games over and over during development and debugging.
