BARMAH VICTORIA / MURRAY RIVER FREE CAMPING / CAMP COOKING / VANLIFE / JAYCO EXPANDER CARAVAN TOUR

In this episode, we travel in our converted Ford transit campervan, to Barmah, Victoria Australia. This small town is located on the Murray River. We camped three nights for free at Barmah with my brother, Leigh, and his family and their dog. My brother’s family camped in their Jayco Expander Outback caravan.
We visited the following places and items of interest in this episode:
•Barmah
•Free camping
•Jayco expander outback
•Australian bulldog
•Barmah National Park
•Van Tour
•Camp cooking
•Archery
•Camping tips
•How to use a chainsaw
•4x4drive
•Murray river
Just as we drove to our free campsite on the first night it was raining. Unfortunately, we got bogged - but thankfully, my brother came to our rescue and hooked our ford transit campervan to his Mazda BT50 4x4 drive. We got pulled out of the mud, headed to our campsite, sat around a large fire, and enjoyed our night.
On our first free camping morning along the Murray River, we cooked egg and bacon muffins on a portable barbecue over the campfire. After breakfast, I toured Leigh and Kristen‘s Jayco Expander Outback caravan.
For lunch, Leigh cranked up his portable barbecue to cook some sausages and relit the campfire to cook medallion lamb chops. Adam and I brought some homemade salads for our family lunch. There’s nothing more relaxing than camp cooking in front of a fire and along the Murray River!
For a bit of fun, we all tried our hand at some archery by aiming for an old tree stump. You be the judge on how well we went!
For dinner, Leigh whipped up American Chilli which is slow-cooked over coals from our campfire. While dinner was cooking over the campfire, we set up a projector screen on the side of our converted Ford transit campervan. The American Chilli cooked in the camp oven turned out absolutely amazing - you could taste the campfire through the meal.
Make sure you stay tuned next week when Adam and I drive Leigh‘s Mazda BT50 4x4 drive through the thick of mud! We head into Barmah National Park in the search for wild brumby. As expected, we do plenty more camp cooking too. Leigh shows us how to use a splitter ax correctly and how to set up our electric Ryobi chainsaw for our first-time use.
We hope you enjoy our channel. We often get asked, ‘what is vanlife?’ Van life is a lifestyle of living in a vehicle full or part-time. The names are compound words that derive from the fact that it is typically done in a van that has been modified with basic amenities, such as house batteries, solar panels, a bed platform, some form of the toilet, sink, and storage space. Some van-dwellers live this lifestyle by choice while seeking freedom, self-sufficiency, and mobility without paying for conventional stationary housing, while for others it may be one step from living on the street or in a shelter. Although the term van-dwelling implies living in a van, many types of vehicles may be used for permanent, mobile living arrangements, including former public buses or school buses, campervans, recreational vehicles (RVs), travel trailers, mobile homes, sport utility vehicles (SUVs) and cars.
We enjoy part-time van life, creating weekly episodes that are live at 5pm (AEST) Sundays, and sharing our experiences on our travels with our cavoodle, Twyla. In our episodes we stay at free and paid campsites, showing our tips and tricks on how to make life on the road easier and fun. Come join us on our adventures!
It’s great to see Australian tourism picking up with many people traveling around Australia in caravans, campervans, RVs, and camping in tents. If you enjoy traveling within Australia too, make sure you Like & Subscribe to our channel. Thanks for watching!
THE MURRAY RIVER
The Murray rises in the Australian Alps, draining the western side of Australia's highest mountains, then meanders northwest across Australia's inland plains, forming the border between the states of New South Wales and Victoria as it flows into South Australia. From an east-west direction, it turns south at Morgan for its final 315 km (196 mi), reaching the eastern edge of Lake Alexandrina. The water then flows through several channels around Hindmarsh Island and Mundoo Island. There it is joined by lagoon water from The Coorong to the south-east before emptying into the Great Australian Bight (often referenced on Australian maps as the Southern Ocean) through the Murray Mouth, 10 km (6.2 mi) east of Goolwa South.[4] Despite discharging considerable volumes of water at times, particularly before the advent of large-scale river regulation, the waters at the Murray Mouth are almost invariably slow and shallow.

Thanks Michelle, we did however find the singles easier to manage... which I guess you may have guessed as we keep them that way. Easier to take Twyla outside too, if she needs a toilet run. Adam

Yes you sure can just try not to go when it’s been raining a lot ,as the ground does get quite boggy. That’s why we got bogged there had been a lot of rain before we went there. Thanks for your question. Regards Deano
