This song came out the year I lost a boyfriend in a car wreck.I wasn't a Christian at the time so I just thought this was a song that related to how I felt when I was supposed to see him that night but obviously, he didn't make the date. 9 years later as a Christian I know this is totally about God always being there even when we can't see or feel him. Even in our darkest days, he is there.

I think you missed the point of what I said. It was how perspective changes after you become a Christian. I now turn to Jesus in hard times and he provides a lot more comfort than wishful thinking ever did. :)

Things seem like a coincidence or accident or just bad luck without jesus but with him, we know that everything happens for a purpose. with jesus, everything suddenly seems to have a purpose or reason for happening. Also i am sorry for what happened to you but i am happy you came to jesus :)

I have always believed in God but He was just something that was out there. I never had a relationship with Him or never put Him first until about 2 years ago when my life fell apart. I was at my low and cried out to God. I felt,"How selfish of me. Now because I need Him?" I couldn't hear anything or feel anything but I went by faith that He was hearing my cry. I was so broken and just in pieces. I couldn't function and made myself sick. A couple of days later I found this song and man it helped me turn things around. That night when I was crying and just finished listening I felt someone sit down on the edge of my bed and give me a hug. At first I thought it was my husband but when I turned around I knew it wasn't him. I felt this assurance that everything was going to be alright. From that point on I have grown so much spiritually. I actually have a relationship with Him. I don't hear His voice but I know He is there. Thank you Barlowgirl for helping me on my journey! ❤️🙏🏽

I grew up MORMON and it CRUSHED me! Then A Christian at work gave me a 30-day Journal of Christian scripters to read every day that said God was GOOD and LOVING!!! I turned to Christian Music and it talked about this GRACE! I was taught works would save me! NOW I fall to my bloody knees! and Thank HIM!

Wow, this was in my recommended and I never heard it but now that I have... it's my new favorite song. Years ago I heard "one more round" played at a funeral

The song is about Faith in Jesus. Like a previous post said the guy in the ropes, when he fights it the ropes get tighter, just like in our lives. When we struggle alone with things it gets harder to deal with. But then the guy in the ropes starts having Faith and the ropes go away, so just like when we start actually ask God for help and have the FAITH that he will help us and knowing he will, our lives get easier. This song sums up everything I've been going through in the past year or so. So many times I wish faith was explained in the context of being unable to perceive God. 2008. Crying because I felt so alone, hated, ugly, etc. 15 yrs old. Friends who I thought were friends weren’t. Being bullied by , boyfriend who thought cared didn’t and hence broke up with me because I quote, “ I’m too depressed since my grandpa died months earlier “. Alone in my room. 3 AM sobbing uncontrollably because I really felt alone and like I had no one. Pills in my hand. Phone under my pillow and believed to be turned off. Asked if He was really there and for a sign. Thought to listen to one more song on shuffle before consuming. This song played. Thought nothing of it. I went to reach for the rest of the pills in the bottle when my phone rang. Loudly. It was my best friend who I didn’t think of. My only friend. True friend. She called and said she just wanted to say hi. Asked if I was crying and of course I said no just woke up. Talked for 5 hours. I’m here today. I believe He sent her. Now I never underestimate. 🙏🏼

When I was alone and felt helpless I'd think of him first. In 2011 i had a very hard time with several aspects of my life, but when my kids were temporarily taken from me, and i felt my family and church family abandoned me. Through it all God was there and i could feel His presence in a very real and reassuring way! I came across this song and i helped me and with God`s ever present comfort, endurance, reassurance to keep on keeping on! We are in the palm of His hand and He is there to get us through all things with His strength and power. He will never leave us or forsake us. He shed His blood for us despite our own sin and miserableness. All we need to do is accept His hand and His salvation, we are truly never alone. I hope things have turned around my brother... This song is just a reminder. I don't have to feel God, to know that He's there (period). He plays no favoritism!! If He did, I wouldn't be here. 45 yrs. of serious heroin addiction, and I know I'm still loved. I may turn my back on Him, but He never turns His back on me........

I see all these comments and I've been through every one of them, I'm 47 almost 48 and I still feel very much alone and it hurts often. I only pray that the Lord has me and I haven't done something already to not make to heaven. Life is never easy especially if u try to do right. This brings back so many memories! BarlowGirl was one of my favorite bands back when I first started to discover what kinds of music I liked, and this song is still just as powerful to me now as it was 5 years ago. It's a shame that they've since disbanded, but no matter where their paths take them, may God bless them in everything they do!

I more into Christian rap but I do really like this song though. Praise God for turning the music of our generation around for His glory alone! :)

Hey Angel Woodsworth please listen to this song and band. I think you will like/love them very much. Although they stopped the band back in 2012 *tears at the memory* they are amazing. They got me through childhood and a year of high school. You would absolutely enjoy this.

impressive music God brought me to this Generation to speak his name and teachings

i wish that Barlow girl would had stuck around a lot longer than they did, these women knew how to rock and spread the word of their faith and all that. They were decent women, they had decent music and they dressed decent, unlike other women in other rock bands. Also I am surprised that none of the women in Barlow girl had done a solo album or two. I truly do wish the Barlow girl would get back together and start making music again, we need a lot more of Christian rock bands today. Most definitely women Christian rock bands, there aren't that many around anymore.

First listened to this album as a twenty-something college kid. It's giving me goose bumps and bringing back memories of my youth as a 40 year old man. Beautiful voices and some solid rock. Literally the only christian album I've ever had interest in. Bravo Barlow girls! I hope you are well.

I have loved this song since it came out, and it has spoken into my life in more ways than I can count on more than a dozen occasions... I haven't listened to it in years... haven't even thought of it because I haven't needed it in years. Struggling to hold onto what I know is true this song fought its way into my mind. All I could remember at first was the sound of it, the melody, the beat.... finally words came and then I remembered it was BarlowGirl I was trying to think of.... it was God making sure I knew I wasn't alone 😭🙌

Saw them back in 2010 They played backup to Todd Agnew. Absolute killer show, Todd & Barlow were off the charts. Barlow Girl was such a example to girls and staying pure. P.S. Lauren you Rock those drums and that snare hit on this song gives me chills.

I no longer consider myself to be Christian, but I love this song. It is not only beautiful vocals but the background music is great and you could still relay this as an LDR.

Very sad Hannah! I'm 63 yrs old and accepted Jesus ( not religion) at the age of 24 on 12-26-1983. I'm still walking down the narrow road with Jesus. Jesus has never left me nor abandoned me. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. Jesus not religion!

To all the hardcore Atheists out there... Jesus came to teach us self-sacrificing LOVE. Is there any greater love? This brand of Love is what we need to show everyone. God is the Spirit of Love. Let's refuse to be selfish and show self-sacrificing Love. This is not about a religion. This is about Love. When was the last time you helped somebody in Love? When was the last time you gave Love to a child? When was the last time you drowned out your own selfish ego and showed Love to someone? Let's all work on loving ourselves, denying our own selfish interests, take up our own STUFF, and lay it at the feet of the One who showed us the way to Love others, so WE can Follow His example. Love God with all your might, because HE IS LOVE and worthy to educate us about Love. Love those around you, because all of us NEED LOVE. There is only one way to make everything alright. Love. Compassion. Empathy. Show the world how you Love and let's change this world of hate and separation from each other.

+Erikvillalonjuarez Juarez if your only defense to gay marriage is because god made men and women to procreate should we also condemn the men who are infertile or the women who cant have children, or should we accept the fact that god wants us to love all his children and love thy neighbor. What about the millions of homeless children or foster kids who cant find a loving family/ forever home because we are too focused on making more children then helping the ones that are already here. just because it takes a man and woman to make a child means nothing if the parents aren't willing to love and care for the child. When their are homeless and hungry children everywhere in this world that need our help. So lets deny the homosexual couple the right to adopt that foster child and give them a loving home and focus on them and how they are ruining marriage and how their lifestyle is wrong because god made men and women for a reason instead of focusing on the children that already populate this earth that need us. next time practice what you preach and love all of gods children and not pick and choose what rules you want and don't to follow.

I agreed with the lets start loving eachother and stop being selfish and hateful but in all honesty atheist or not humans are feeble creatures that are easy to sway however i dont believe anyone needs a false god that wont stop the hate only we can do that so preach but we dont need a false god or a false Shepard to guide us only ourselfs i do believe the human race is capable of understanding and love and i dont mean to undermine your beliefs but as humans we can differ on opinions and still be capable of love also jesus was gods son not god o.O

I couldn't help but think about the symbols, as well as the meaning of the music video and song itself... The music video starts off bleak, in a somewhat dark downtown setting, with lyrics focused on questioning and doubting. This scene represents our first struggle of faith when we come to Christ.. "Will He be there for me when things go wrong?" Next the scene switches to the band being in an abandoned lot, where buildings are worn and destroyed, yet it's now in broad daylight. The lyrics are now focused on a confident knowing and understanding of the truth. This represents us as Christians being in this world with hopelessness all around us, but hope within us! We can still conquer worldly despair knowing that Jesus is with us through His Spirit in this life, no matter the circumstance. The man bound by the ropes represent being bound by the cares of this life when we try to do things ourself. The scenery of the mountain behind him, and him being depicted by himself represents any challenge we might be facing in life that feels like such a mountain to climb, it makes us feel so small, as if we're all alone. His struggle against the ropes are parallel to our struggle against giving our will to Jesus, but more specifically to The Holy Spirit. We always try to fight for some sense of control over our lives, but the more we struggle for control, the more bound we become by the problems we face in life. Just like the man bound by the ropes, when we finally stop struggling, we are set free. That means, when we give our will to God, He sets us free. No more worry about our future, job, bills, relationships, or any problems in life. He will take care of it all as long as we trust Him at His word. All in all, the song is a representation of The Baby Christian who has just learned about God and His promises, but questioning if He's even really there, because of what they can and can't see. He says, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." But the troubles of this life can easily blind us to that truth. Jesus is always within us by His Holy Spirit once we are born again into the Kingdom of God. We pray, and cry out when things go wrong in life, most of us audibly hear nothing back, so it can feel like we're alone. Many throw away the Christian faith at this point. However, If we 'hold tight' to what we know, meaning if we stop trusting our physical eyes and ears, but trust what God's word says concerning every situation of our lives, it will be easy to see that we are NEVER alone and He WILL deliver you from what ever situation you are going through.
