I'm confused as to how the wooden box is to blame for the dings. I am curious what kind of wood is hard enough to gouge titanium

That's exactly one i was aiming and decided in las moment not to go for it because it didn't have pocket clip and i was suspicious of quality because it's a first production..i'm glad i pulled out.

You should have read the reviews like I did before i bought one and I ran from it after I saw your review 😂

I just received one today and can't tell you how disappointed I am. If qc would've been there, it could have been great. Machine lines around edges are rough and has vertical lock rock when open and closed. When closed the blade comes out enough to snag your finger.. I emailed to dealer and I'm hoping to return it.

@@shroomsrus5116 I not only sent an email to the dealer but I also sent an email to bark river. It's currently with them and I'm hoping they fix it.

What's really sad is that I have CIVIVI and Ganzo folding knives that are perfect. It's sad that the Chinese have better quality control for sub 100 dollar knives, than that off centered knife you have that cost $550 😢

I used to be a bark river die hard until their quality control went to shit. I got tired of getting knives that should have never left the factory. The disappointment started when I got one of the Original Grizzly's, one of the 300. It was very dull at the tip for about two or three inches. I used to own 33 bark rivers, now I'm down to 11.

i got a bar river few mouths ago. I'm very disappointed, there are so many minor issues.

As a big fan of BRK, I am used to hearing criticism but this is disappointing. I have an extensive collection of bark river knives and yes, I have gotten a few with imperfections. I'm glad I saw this video because I would have wanted to buy one. Rather buy another Chris Reeve for that money.

Been a BRK fan for years, but the past year they have really fallen off. The past couple runs of knives I've picked up were all hit or miss. Not to mention the steel, I've been getting chips in the blades just from carving wood with their Magnacut and 3v. I won't be buying anymore anytime soon. Their reasoning for their poor qc is that they have too many knives to make. They're about quantity.

That’s such a cop out answer on their part. I’ve had the same issues with them and if you mention it on their FB groups, you get piled on. Not to mention that Mike preaches about how this generation are snowflakes, but can be the biggest snowflake when anyone brings up the inconsistencies of their QC. They also just say to send it in for warranty, but I’ve had knives take MONTHS to get sent back. Imagine building a custom preorder, receiving it and it having issues, and then having to send it back to get it back 3 months later. After you’ve spend $300 to $400. Ridiculous.

I have felt for a long time bark river has relied to much on their warranty. They send knives out that should have never left knowing most people wont take the time to send them into the Spa.

I don't get why they would do 3v in a titanium folder. Total opposite ideals. They have S45VN and Magnacut, I don't know why they would go for a rust prone steel. Even cruwear would be a better choice.

Holy Christ thank you for this review! I was skeptical to begin with, but had no idea what a mess i could have gotten into.

I don't own one but I agree with everything you have said. I hope BRK doesn't die on the hill of "imperfections are normal" because that thing is a dam embarrassment. At the end of the day, someone should have stepped in and cancled that project at some point if that's the final product.

What are you complaining about? That was PROUDLY made in Escanaba MI and they were PROUD to bring it to you. It says so right there on the COA. Frankly, they were PROUD to put out that piece of overpriced junk. It’s also sad that it took them 4 years of development to come up with that. I like the look of the ergos of the knife. But the build looks dated. Like the knife was made ten years ago, not in 2023. To compete, they’re going to have to up their game. They need to greatly improve their fit and finish. And they need to add a pocket clip. It’s rather large to drop into a pocket. These will be hot amongst the BR fan boys. But I think most premium knife buyers will be a hard pass on this one.

First off it was the PROTOTYPE. THEY made that very apparent. Second, if your stupid enough to think wood dings titanium than I can’t help you, third when they ran em after the protos they were much nicer

This is both a shame and disappointing. I am curious if these were built and/or QCed in Escanaba ... or by a 3rd/4th party with no oversight. I can't think the wood box marred up the titanium scales ... felt or foam-lined would certainly made better experience/perception. Shame. Thanks for share.

That’s so unfortunate, for a first run I can see it having flaws a little, maybe it was rushed?! 🤷🏻‍♂️ Plus, the lack of a pocket clip bothers me too. Could I do any better? No, probably not. Or maybe. The thought is cool tho!

From the video I watched on KZread threw DLT Trading when they were showcasing this knife. They did say it was going to have a pocket clip that came with the knife so you had the option. If the release of these have the same issues as the prototype which is kinda nuts. I’ll just stick with their fixed blades.

Wood does not damage steel or Titanium.

Yet, you sold it and made money 😂😂

This knife is not Typical of the Folders Nick is making - This is one of the first 20 that were Prototypes and sold as prototypes. The actual one has a Disc opener - only the first prototypes were made like this. You had to know you were buying one of the prototypes - DLT was very Clear on this.

😮 This looks disgusting ! 550 Dollars? Put the same on top and you can buy an outstanding Rockstead… Maybe Bark River should stay with fixed blades… oh no I use a few older Barkies and I love them. Hope they don’t ruin the brand 🙁
