Just returned from seven days there.....great resort with just the right amount of energy hanging by the massive pool and main bar....snorkeling with a banana and dinner roll brings in hundred of fish around you and sea turtles the size of large boulders 👍.....typical buffet food with lots of choices, al acarte's were great!!....this resort is massive and very clean with all of the other barcelo's and great for people that like to walk.....all interaction with resort workers (check in, housekeeping, bartenders) was 10/10 ....yes, book-it!

My husband and I want a nice sized suite because our room will be a central spot for everyone to gather, plus we'll probably be watching the grandkids some while they're parents go off on their own. It depends what your budget is - the family junior suite is a junior suite with a bed and living room area, plus a separate bedroom attached and can sleep up to 5 people. You can see the full details of the room on the Barcelo Maya Palace website, but it sounds like it might work for your needs 👍🏻

There isn’t a resort shuttle that we know of.. you can take a taxi or google shuttles from Cancun airport and pre-book that way.

The food is great at the buffets but the ala cartes are excellent 👌🏻 there are some activities around the pool during the day and shows at the theatre at night. You can also check out the other resorts and see what the have to offer 👍🏻

How hard was it to make reservations for restaurants? And can you make reservations for all the other resorts you can access? Deciding between this and the Riu Palace, which doesn't require reservations.

To be honest, I stayed at the Barcelo Riviera Maya AO and it was great ammenities, but I noticed the staff was a little rude, especially at the buffet. I’m sorry to hear you had a bad experience at the Maya Riviera - we loved it there! As far as the premium level perks, it’s worth checking out the website to see what all of the benefits are. We took advantage of the free room service and the premium lounge a lot, so we found that it was worth it. The private checkin at the premium lounge was also a nice touch and went very quickly and smoothly 👍🏻

It’s about a 5 -10 minute walk along the beach path. You can also take the resort bus from lobby to lobby 👍🏻

Wait, Palace has it's own Theater? I was in Palace, and decided to go for a long walk and found myself in Tequilas Theater! Rushed there everyday after dinner!😭

There is a show at the theatre at 9:30-10:30 and some nights there is live music in the lobby - other than that, there is a sports bar at the Maya Mall on complex that stays open late and that’s about it. 🤷🏼‍♀️ By washroom we mean restrooms 🚽 with toilets- not laundry. You can request from housekeeping to do your laundry for an extra charge.

It’s free to make reservations and eat at the ala carte restaurants! 👍🏻 you can reserve them anytime of the day - just go to guest services and they will do that for you 👍🏻 the earlier in your trip you book them, the better - some of the popular ones book up fast !

They don’t really have a nightclub - just a DJ or band in the main lobby. The nightclub is in the Maya Mall/Market area in the complex. Otherwise, yes I think you can get a day pass for Riviera - at least you could when we were there 🤷🏼‍♀️

It’s tough to say - depends what you prioritize in a vacation 🤷🏼‍♀️ the Barcelo is part of a great complex with lots to offer, has an authentic Mexican vibe, but has no real beach. The BP Akumal has a great yet a bit rocky beach, good food and entertainment, but offers a different vibe 🤷🏼‍♀️ essentially, they are both very similar and you can’t go wrong with either.

It depends what you like 🤷🏼‍♀️ BP Tulum is newly renovated and more modern looking and the beach is nice and swimmable, whereas the Maya Palace is more traditional looking but no swimmable beach. The food is pretty comparable at both.

DO NOT SIGN UP WITH ULTIMATE LEISURE CLUB - nearly everything they told us in the sales meeting was a lie and we are now out thousands. I've not been to this hotel, but its probably very nice, but you should definitely book it with other operators like TUI

I don't recommend this Hotel ONE BIT. Ever since the bartender gave me a dirty look and threw my 2 dollars into the tip jar like if it was trash I said screw these guys I'm never going to this Hotel again. I stopped tipping for the remainder of my days the moment that happened,. Also, my 3 year old son ended up leaving the kids room area where he was suppose to be SUPERVISED. The food quality is below average, the service sucks. I'll never go there again and do not recommend this resort. I'll be trying the Grand Moon Palace this year and it how it goes..

I honestly didn’t like this place. Apple and orange juice Drinks/cocktails are so disgusting. I didn’t enjoy a single drink here. Food was alright but not amazing unless you booked at the fancy restaurants. There were flies all over the place and hair in my food. My bedroom had dirty stained old lamps. Wasn’t impressed at all. The Spa was the only spot I loved. If you really want to have an amazing stay, PLEASE visit THE GRAND @ Moon Palace. MIND BLOWING!
