Barbra Streisand - FUNNY GIRL (Rare STEREO Alternate Extended Single, 1968)
Музыка
In order to promote the movie "Funny Girl", Columbia Records released several songs from the film but arranged in a more pop style. Peter Matz was the conductor and arranger. Sent to radio stations in July 1968, this is the rare stereo single of the Oscar nominated title song, extended more than one minute. This record was never released on any album or on digital form. Enjoy!

For my sister. She was a funny girl and had a great sense of humor, she showed me how to have a sense of humor and we both loved Barbra Streisand movies when we were little girls. 😘😘✌️🦋

It was released. Just not as a single.
What a beautiful montage! Streisand in Funny Girl and Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday are the two most remarkable screen debuts we will ever see.
OH MY GOD THAT VOICE
Dearest Barbra Streisand, You are a ravishing beauty and you are a extremely talented actress and singer.
I will never tire hearing that exquisite voice.
There will never be another singer or funny girl that will stay in my heart ..now and forever.

That scene where they kiss in the sunset on the dock is pure class as far as timing and camerawork are concerned

Ich habe es geliebt ❤grandios und Gänsehaut pur, liebe Grüße aus Wedel Germany
Loved the chemistry between them.💯👏💙♥️
Comédie musicale que j'ai adorée. Le couple Barbra Streisand-Omar Shariff purement génial avec une Brabra à la voix superbe, magnifique et unique !
Such a beautiful instrument of a voice.
It's a beautiful alternate version for a wider public. The film version is perfectly suited to what was needed for the scene. And I think it was a bid for an Oscar for Best Original Song.
Omar Sharif was so handsome!
If Streisand decides to do another movie album, I'd love to see her pull this from her vaults and include it. It's wonderful and seems perfectly made for an album. Her rendition is different enough that it sound totally fresh now, 50 years later.
YOU ARE GORGEOUS..GUSTAVO!!
what a star and voice, to me the best, thank u barbra
Wow. Just. Wow. Thank you!
This song must be put on Barbra’s next release me too album!
I can't believe how amazing this is.
This is so lushly gorgeous. I've never heard this rendition and enjoy listening to Barbra reinterpret one of her standard songs aimed at a radio or even concert audience. Thank you Gustavo for your fabulous work.
My favorite movie of all time.
Thank you, Gustavo! I’ve listened a few times now, and as always, Ms. Streisand is sublime taking on a journey. But I must mention those orchestrations ! I mean a match made in heaven!
Exquisite!!!
Ich habe diesen Film geliebt 🙏🙏❤️❤️
COMO MANTIENE LOS ALTOS.., VAYA CON LAS CUERDAS VOCALES QUE DEBE TENER Y SABER RELAJAR LOS HOMBROS. QUÉ VOZ!!!!!!
Well done. Thank you. Great tribute for a great, talented lady.
I'm in shock. I've only ever heard the soundtrack recording. This is better....they should have made this the album version. You are blowing my mind with these rare tracks. I search everywhere for old rare recordings from Barbra. She really stretches her range here. Wonderful
I love the extended version - great song I think
Brilliant in everyway
Wow!! Thank you for posting this!!
Must definetely be included in Realease Me Vol. 2, as some people have already stated!
Wow just wow
I love her.
Just beautiful.
So beautiful! Thank you
Beautiful restoration Gustavo! Barbra really has the best fans. Barbra, Marty or Columbia / Sony suits should wonder why this hasn't been done professionally before. So many wasted opportunities and lack of respect for her artistry.

Love the clips. I also prefer what was used in the film over this arrangement. But nice to hear an alternate.
Thank you for posting!
Gorgeous! I love the arrangement. And what a terrific video. Beautiful.
Another gem suitable for volume 2 of a "Release Me" album. Thanks, Gustavo, well done!
Love this...never heard this before!!
Thanks for posting this rarity.
I always thought this song was so short… and my favorite in the movie! It’s so amazing to hear this version…
Wow! Fabulous! Thank you.
Love it. I always wished the song was longer in the movie.

As good as it is I think the movie version worked in the context of the film and had more pathos - but don’t you just love hearing these alternative versions they demonstrate the woman’s extraordinary talent
Thank you for this! What a good movie and good actors! And Barbra Streisand as the best voice and beautiful songs!
So incredible! I can totally hear this as a more radio friendly version, everything from the pacing of the tune to Barbra's reading of the lyrics. It was interesting, but I still prefer the film version. I do think this would have been perfect for Just for the Record.

In all arenas. She's the best.
Going to have to watch the movie again or the 5th time. Or 6th. I've lost count. The production value: the costumes, the lighting, the cinematography, THE ACTING, the directing, THE SINGING, OMG it is just one of the best movies ever made when you add all of those up. It's crazy that someone looked at Fanny Brice's life and said "I know, let's make a musical with beautiful songs that the leading lady sings," (when it started on Broadway as a musical) since Fanny was a vaudevillian, and sure she could sing, but I doubt she could sing THIS score because of the range required. It's just amazing from concept to completion. Gotta watch it again.
Sounds amazing, Gustavo! It's a very lush arrangement. Probably too much for that moment in the film. But as a stand-alone song, she knocks it outta the park!
Thank you so much for posting this. My aunt took me to see Funny Girl when it came out, when I was 12 years old. The movie seats were even reserved. It was and still is my very favorite movie after 53 years. How time has flown by!!
Splendid. I think my favorite lines in any song are herein: A Girl oughtta have a sense of humor, that’s one thing you really need for sure. Such resonance for anyone during a breakup.
Fabulous!
This is real treat. One superb voice.
Thank you so much Gustavo for your excellent work and sharing it with the fans. This version shows again the incomparable magic of Barbra's voice.

SUPERB ! Love her so much x
A few great ones were around....this one is just so multi-faceted....and her repertoire covers more than that if most singers, straight from the start! Like Garland😊😊😊😊😊
She can sing ...
I like this!
Simply Magnificent!!!
Great find! Thank you very much for sharing this gem.
Streisand! A shooting comet of exquisite talent!!! That voice, hers alone!

Thank you so much for this, for sharing it and for the beautiful montage you created of scenes from the film. Really moving. I kept thinking as I watched how good she was as an actress as well as a singer right from the beginning of her career. Thank you…
So well sung and such a great song!!! A girl oughtta have a sense of humor.
