Barbie definitely works better in media when she’s self aware. It’s great

I like the episode when Ken’s cousin Ben comes to visit. He mentions kung-fu grip and articulation, clearly an homage of sorts to early Gi Joes (which I also love). Also the episode where she sells her entire clothes and tries them on before hand. It’s a fun series.

Has anyone else noticed that there’s an undeniable trend of the voice actors looking a lot like their characters?!😮 especially Barbie and Racquelle holly

Honestly i just love the fact that every background character looks like Raquele but with brown hair, cause i guess it shows that Raquele is just like every other doll in this universe, but she's the only one that actually thinks for herself and tries to outdo Barbie instead of just following her like some kind of god. She's like the one doll in the factory that went wrong while all the others look, act and are the same, all following the great and perfect Barbie, with a perfect life and perfect everything, while Raquele, for being different, is totally forgotten and set aside, which would explain why she's so jealous of Barbie and feels like she deserved more than the chance no one ever gave her. She wants what Barbie has, not because she hates barbie herself, but everything she represents. You can see that as time goes on, she ends up accepting her life this way, and hugging her own glam and becoming frienimies with Barbie and her friends. She spent so much time trying to be better than what she was and trying to copy that perfect image of Barbie that she forgot that she also could have her own perfectly great life, and accepted her own style, although she still felt jealous. When she found an alternate universe where SHE, instead, was the Barbie image everyone wanted to be, with her perfect life and perfect friends, she realized that that is not real. Everything is fake and she didn't want to live in a world where everything was too perfect for her, and nothing was really worth being there for. That's when she realized that the world needs a Raquele, just like she needed a world where she can be herself and not just Barbie. I went too deep.

As a kid who's used to watch this show evryday after school. Im pretty happy more people are watching this show it's fun and simple and I think evrybody needs that in there lifes ^^ I'm a teen now so I think I'll be re watching some episodes since the movie is happening soon

Teresa in this series is the autistic coded friend, and is iconic af for it. Like think about how what we know about her fits perfectly into how autistic females present: She takes things too literally which means people think she is dumb but it makes sense when you think about it in black and white. She takes things at face value, meaning she buys into conspiracy theories because she doesn't understand why anyone would lie to her or try to twist things. She's incredibly talented when it comes to her special interest of fashion shows. Sarcasm and jokes go over her head as do the social cues surrounding them.She says what she means, whether it's for better or worse which makes her come across as tactless. She's an icon, she's a queen, she's autistic coded and she is my favourite character.

Loved this deep dive, it was such an iconic show. Barbie at her Barbie-est, Ken being her literal Full Time Boyfriend, literally everything about Raquelle. It was so good

29:25 just my opinion but I think Barbie leans more into pets now because they’ve gotten away from her with “babies” even if she usually is the big sister and rarely the “mom”

Yeah. I would love that too. Keep the camp. And now there is a lot more different Barbies now. And they would go the MLP route with giving entire character arcs and storylines.

I qm a 40 year old mom. My sons are 18 and 17. My daughter is 11. The biggest testament to the brilliance of this show is that each of us says "That schlon poofa" on a regular basis. It was the one Barbie show that my boys didn't roll their eyes at and that they loved the jokes and puns.

I love media that isn’t afraid to be self aware and CAMPY. Barbie life in the dreamhouse, Bratz. I’m hoping the new live action Barbie takes a scooby doo live action route. From the trailer it looks like it has!!!!!!

Genuinely one of the funniest comedies I have ever seen. Nearly every joke landed in every episode, which is such a feat, and the fact that it’s a Barbie thing makes it even more hilarious.

Life in the Dreamhouse was randomly recced to me on Netflix in around 2016/2017, and since I was home on a snow day, I decided, why not? I binged the entire thing in a day, then watched it over with my wife over the next several days. It became my comfort viewing. I adore the humor, the characters, the animation - all of it. Iconic doesn't even begin to describe it. I especially love it when I make a random reference in class, and my students, all teenagers, are like, "Is that a Barbie reference?" Because they all grew up watching it. It's random, and it's fun, and gives me a good way to explain that you're never too old for cartoons, toys, or anything else from childhood. I found this show in my 30s, and I adore it. The new live-action Barbie movie trailer is giving me some very serious Life in the Dreamhouse vibes, and it has me really excited for the movie. I'm not a diehard Barbie fan, but I know so many random things about the franchise and its history thanks to Life in the Dreamhouse. (I'm more of a MH, EAH, RH collector, and I'm pretty sure my wife would divorce me if I added Barbie to my doll collection, aside from the Doctor Who Barbie).

I absolutely love this show. I had to do dubbing and subtitling a lot in university and I would always do Barbie dream house episodes, perfect length. I loved the lemon one the most! Can imagine my uni professors watching them to grade me 😂😂

The pregnant Midge makes so much SENSE. In the Barbie teaser photos there is a photo that reads “She’s Midge” and she’s pregnant. I was so confused cause the midge I know isn’t pregnant but that makes a lot of sense 34:06

My favorite Raquelle moment: When she has the binoculars and is focusing in on Ken in the runway episode saying, “You’re about to get Raquelle’d right between the eyes…hahahahaha!” Only to reveal she is actually like one row behind Ken and he responds with, “Hey Raquelle!”

"Whole wheat? You know I can't eat spicy foods" is next level comedy

My favorite quotes in the whole show is “Whole wheat *snort* you know I don’t eat spicy food”, “It’s probably not me” and my personal favorite “In the most chocking development Barbie was seen wearing stripes with florals”

nikki actually mentioned barbie's parents name in "let's make a doll" episode. also there's two leaked unreleased episodes called "attention shoppers" and "you go 'gurt". you can find both in youtube but the audio is not in english.

I accidentally found this show while on maternity leave and babysitting my toddler nephew. I did not expect to fall in love with it. There isn't anything innapropriate about this show, but it was 100% made for adults at least as much as it was made for kids. Such a funny show!

This is my favorite Barbie series. I love how they're all dolls in this one and aware that they are dolls.

My father is a veterinarian, so the episode where Barbie used different sizes of syringes on her patients amused us a lot (when I got my father to watch this episode - I'm 25, my father is 50 haha). And we still use the name "pinkocillin" in everyday life. If a pimple on the forehead pops out, "smear it with pinkocillin" and everything will be fine. I finished watching this series for the first time the day the first trailer for the Barbie movie came out. The symbolism is off the charts. I love this show and it's honestly one of the best things to happen to Barbie, and that's considering I grew up watching her movies and barely saw any Disney princesses.

My nephew, who never owned a Barbie nor had any interest in them, introduced me to this show. He and my sister loved it and were like "you MUST watch this, it's hilarious!" I love this show and Raquel was our favorite character as well. She was so much fun to watch. You never knew what new levels of cray she was gonna sink to. I enjoyed binge watching eps of this with my nephew 💙 excellent review of the series! 👏

You missed some (unofficially) released episodes! These two were leaked after the series had ended, but both in foreign dubs and low quality. 😓 - You Go Gurt, where Barbie helps Teresa start her own business from street performing to sock-monkey petting zoo. This one was in Portuguese dub. - Attention Shoppers, where Barbie, Grace and Teresa go to the Malibu Mall Midnight Sale. This episode was in Chinese dub. I think they've made more episodes that were canned or scrapped due to series cancellation. I do hope more missing episodes will resurface! 😍🤞

The Amaze Chase, Another Day at the Beach, Perf Pool Party, and Going to the Dogs are among my favorite episodes. Like MLP, the writers made a show that little girls and the family can enjoy. I wish Season 8 aired. Some early episodes were available to watch in foreign languages.

Racquell is my favourite in this show she's so funny. I also like Skipper.

I feel like this show is a great homage to Barbie's legacy, it's very self-aware and uses a lot of Barbie's history. From the trailer, I got that the movie will have a similar approach so I'm very excited to see it. Life in the Dreamhouse is seriously funny and so smart!! I love it so much.

As for the dress in the Little Bad Dress. I thought that one too but then I remembered in the earlier episode "The Barbie Botique" wherein Raquelle's designer brand outfit got destroyed and tried out one of Barbie's outfits, there was no significant change in her behavior that tells that she turned for good. So yeah, Racquelle stays as the iconic antagonist in the series

A Smidge of Midge is my favorite episode and I love how the dress vintage Midge is wearing is a real barbie outfit from the 60s, Friday Night Date, I just love how this show is full of so many references to older barbie it shows the creators really did their research

The jokes in L.I.T.D. come at you so fast, it's fun to watch the episodes over & over to catch them. Faves: from an airplane: "Look at those ants - they look like little people!" Ken to Barbie: "Of course I got you a gift - I wouldn't forget Waffle History Month!" Barbie to Tawny (the horse): "Don't drop your dream of becoming a dolphin trainer!" Ken is manly but not bossy; Barbie is feminine but not wimpy. Barbie is multi-layered: fashion idol but also career girl; girlfriend but also a mom to her sisters. Barbie is so kind in always forgiving Raquelle and including her in activities.

Sometimes I wish Raquelle would succeed too. She's iconic and hilarious, plus she's not annoying the way Tammy is in Dreamhouse Adventures. I think Raquelle changing her clothes wouldn't actually make her nicer, because there was one episode in which she tried on the exact same pink outfit that Barbie was wearing and her personality didn't change. Raquelle wore a couple of other outfits throughout the show too, such as the giant ball of random clothes and the glitterfied pinkness and her personality didn't change then either. When I first watched the show I made the mistake of thinking the male background characters where Ken recolorizations too, but upon closer inspection you can see they're actually Ryan recolorizations. It's still hilarious though. I love the low budget animation.

Danny and Ross were playing the Barbie Life in the Dreamhouse video game and there was something...different about the dialogue. Funny and self-aware. I had to know more, and so I watched the entire series and thought it was amazing.

I quite loved this series. Even as an adult it's just fun! Raquelle is exactly what we never knew we needed and my favorite moment is when she's on screen

I love love love Life in the Dreamhouse! When my daughter grew up she had me hold onto her Barbie and Midge, which I was very happy to do because they're just so well made. So, what obscure Barbie style media would I like you to cover?....hhhmmmmnnnn, Oh! I have a few ideas! #1. Maxie's World, the "this was supposed to be a Barbie cartoon, but we lost the license and ran with Hasbro instead" 80's cartoon. The cartoon is pure 80's, it had multiple dolls but ultimately failed without the Barbie branding, because Barbie was QUEEN in the 80's. #2. Super Doll Licca-chan! Extremely 90's Licca doll tie in anime. Which leads me into my last pick: #3. The absolute batshit crazy Toho (Yes, the Godzilla company) made "Kawaii! JeNny" show. It would be wild to see you cover this series! It's available fully subbed on KZread. And maaaayyyybbbeee a special mention for Takara's Disney Princess Palace Pets. Had virtually no traction here in the US, but was quite huge overseas. This one is very toddler oriented though. There's also Tencent's YeLoli show/doll line and South Korea's Mimi and Secret Jouju shows/ dolls. Anyways,. I'm going to go back to praying Mattel decides to going back to making dolls as nice as they did for LitD....

It's crazy how much the voice actors look like the real life version of the characters they portray!

Also orginally the barbie life in the dream house episodes on netflix were released in 15 minutes bundles in chronological order, so you could simply watch it like a normal show. The change the those weird "Best Of" bundles is only recent.

This series was recommended to me on here a few years ago. No idea why but I’m so glad it was. I regularly binge watch the episodes on Netflix or have it as background noise when I can’t sleep. Raquelle is absolutely my favourite character and my favourite episodes are Sour Loser, Bizarro Barbie, Barbie Boutique, and Bad Hair Day. I just wish there’d been more diversity among the other Malibu dolls. Great video! Can’t wait for the movie to be released!

I discovered life in the dream house as an adult... and I feel in LOVE with it. I personally love Raquel and her shenanigans lol.

The voice over for the pets is just so funny, with personally my favourite line being “Me? Decorating with these? The polish hasn’t dried yet.”

Also the only thing that bothered me about the actual dolls they came out for the series is the Barbie doesn't look like Barbie from the show (her face mold). I wish they'd done it exactly like she looked in the show.

There’s also the new girl in town episode where grace gets introduced and Barbie calls her “so in style”, a really neat omage to her S.I.S line😭 literally iconic

I also would legit be PISSING myself laughing watching these so often. There's so many jokes for adults that I absolutely love

I absolutely LOVE the animation style and humor in life in the dreamhouse. I adore that they make them look like actual dolls. The newer barbie series on Netflix make barbie look more like a real person and don't really have the charming humor that life in the dreamhouse did. They should make another barbie series in the style of LITDH tbh

Why does Ryan's doll look more like the voice actor than Ryan in the show itself? Also, I do wish that Netflix would just sort out the show by episode and season rather than group episodes. Barbie Life In The Dreamhouse to me just feels wholesome and fun. I feel like the show ages very well. I'll never get tired of the show's humor.

I can’t wait for the movie to come out, I’m so excited. And I can’t wait for those beautiful dolls to come out.. I’m such a fan of Barbie life in the dream house, I binge watch episodes on KZread on nights I can’t sleep.

The hold this show had on my sisters and I was INSANE. My younger brother watched it maybe two years ago and it still holds up. We found a lot of the episodes on On Demand, they didn’t have many from what I remember but the episodes of Barbie stuck in her closet stick out to me

So my girls loved this show but my favorite is the amaze chase episode and I can honestly admit that my husband and I have watched this episode over and over without the kids!!!

I wish they would bring this back… it’s the perfect portrayal of classic Barbie and it’s very much in the same vein of the upcoming movie.

Im glad im not the only one who really likes Barbie Starlight Adventure. The animation was just so surprisingly pretty and satisfying.

i like the recolored versions of the bg characters because its like how doll lines will have the same doll but different skin/hair and slightly different fits
