How amazing and not surprising considering Barbara Stanwyck. She always set the bar high. In film, as in life.

@@victoriagarzione4360 Yes, she has an amazing bio on Wiki. She started as a self-taught Broadway dancer and her career spans the entire history of motion pictures. She helped start the careers of William Holden and Kirk Douglas and was a mentor to Lee Majors.

According to the DVD comments, Ryan Gosling practiced 2 hrs a day with a coach for 2 months so that he could do his own playing in "La La Land". However I heard another report that his playing was still dubbed in the final film. I'm still impressed by what Ryan and Miss Stanwyck were able to do on film. It's inspired me to practice and improve my piano skills.

I saw the film (24/4/2020) and in the opening sequence B Stanwyck played, and appeared to play, a very difficult piece. Scene started with hands only then camera peeled back showing BS still playing. It must have been a brilliant illusion. It deffo fooled me ! . The film showed TB patients breathing all over each other and falling madly in love after 5 minutes acquaintance

@@arthurkrieck1 Thanks, I thought it was a piece composed for the movie. "The Competition" is on Amazon Prime, which set a new standard of piano faking .
