Barbara Bonney
Barbara Bonney is one of the leading lyric sopranos of her generation. With over 100 recordings to her name, her artistry has been documented for generations of singers to come. Her Sophie (Rosenkavalier) is legendary the world over, as are her Mozart roles of Susanna (Figaro), Parmina (Zauberflote). Ms. Bonney devoted much of her 30 year career to Lieder, and continues to sing Lied-Recitals and Orchestral Concerts. She is a devoted mentor of the new-generation-singer, and is currently Professor at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, as well as guest professor of the Royal Academy of Music in London.

My beloved mother pased away three days ago. This video gave me some consolation.
I love the way Barbara sings this, it is so pure and ethereal. Effortless and floating.
Warm, slow, controlled, mature and beautiful. I think this is much better than the other female versions on youtube.

Barbara Bonney is always distinctly herself: tender, personal, with a sound that is not out of place singing John Dowland or Pergolesi, yet makes perfect musical sense for listeners of Schumann, RIchard Strauss, and Fauré. It doesn't get any better. Thank you, Barbara!

I get goosebumps listening to her sing. She has the most amazing voice I have ever heard. Googled her and she is as beautiful as her voice.

Yes - voice of an angel is most appropriate, and this comes from a singer, a music major who holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Choral/Vocal music from CSULB. Not all sopranos can perform this equally - Barbara Bonney does the job.

I first saw Barbara Bonney in "Ariadne auf Naxos" back in 1991 (?) with Dawn Upshaw (she was Echo) in the performance that Jessye Norman starred in, and have followed her career ever since. She sings like an angel, doesn't she? I have a Netfliix of Brahms'Ein Deutches Requiem" in which she sings the soprano part. I'm going to play it tomorrow and know that I will derive much comfort from her singing as she sings about the comfort one finds in God. Brava, diva Barbara!

BB has a sublime voice...I am very happy that you like the video...the photos...hard to say...it was a while back...I diligently searched the Internet and thank goodness the photos that I found happily worked with the concept that I had in mind for this song.
