Mr. Blanche's main experience is as a Federal prosecutor. Federal prosecutions most often resolve in plea deals and thus there is much less trial experience than there would be in State prosecutions. In my opinion, @kylecarney2149 is correct. Mr. Blanche is a very good attorney but may not have been the best attorney for this particular case. Trump's micromanagement is a huge factor. You don't need a client punching holes in the lifeboat while the attorney's strategy is to make it to shore safely. And, in any case, the lifeboat may not have been seaworthy to begin with but you try to do the best with what you've got.

Yeah he did back at his congressional hearing, which he even admitted to doing so. Why did he lie back then? To benefit Trump, not himself, so why would he lie right now? What does he have to gain by lying? The answer? NOTHING but but more prison time. The documents and other materials back up his statements in court this last week. Will lying punish Trump like he wants it to do today? No! He's telling the truth right now - you cannot argue logically that he would lie to punish Trump unless everyone and everything else in the trial is also incorrect. There was and NEVER has been any forgery of the financial documents presented as evidence to the court. Other witnesses corroborate his story. Even if he was not telling the whole truth about a prank call, 95 seconds or so is long enough that he could discuss payments to Stormy Daniels AND discuss the prank call which would have taken 15 seconds or less. No human can recall simply all their memories, especially if they are not material/relevant to the case. Here's A possible re-enactment of what happened: MC: "Oh hi Keith, this one number has been blocking me. Can you help block it please?" 5 Seconds Keith: "Sure! I'll get on the phone with our IT support and have them block it for you." 5 Seconds MC: "Thanks! Now could you please hand me over to Donald right now?" 5 Seconds Keith: "Of course, he's been meaning to speak to you." 10 seconds Keith finds and hands the phone over to Trump 10 seconds Trump: "What happened?" 2 seconds MC: "Sir, you had me delay payments and now Stormy threatening to go public." 8 Seconds Trump: "Take care of it please." 5 seconds MC: "Will do. I can get a home loan to cover the amount." 10 seconds Trump and MC talk a little more about Stormy and then he hangs up. 35 seconds Total Time: 95 seconds
