ಬನ್ಸಿ ರವೆ ಉಪ್ಪಿಟ್ಟು ೧೫ ನಿಮಿಷದಲ್ಲಿ | Perfect Bansi Rava Uppittu | Bansi Rava Upma

This is a quick and easy breakfast recipe from Karnataka, prepared in just 20 minutes. Kesaribath and Uppittu is a terrific combination and popularly served for breakfast in Hotels and family functions. Uppittu prepared using local Rava or Chiroti Rava can form lumps and get too soft. Bansi Rava Uppittu is easy to prepare yet tastes great and healthier too.
Ingredients:
Ghee - 2 Tbsp
Medium Bansi Rava - 1 Cup
Oil - 3 Tbsp
Mustard Seeds - 1 & 1/2 tsp
Urad Dal/White Lentils - 1 tsp
Curry Leaves - 8-10
Slit Green Chillies - 3
Onion - 1 Big-sized chopped
Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
Tomato - 1 Big-sized chopped
Hot Water - 2 & 1/2 Cups
Sugar - 1/2 Tbsp
Salt - As per taste
Fresh Grated Coconut - 1/4 tsp
Lemon Juice - 1 tsp
Coriander Leaves - 2 Tbsp
Method:
1. Add 2 Tbsp Ghee to a pan.
2. Once Ghee is hot, add 1 Cup Bansi Rava.
3. Roast the Rava in medium flame for 5-8 minutes and switch off the flame.
4. Transfer the roasted Rava to a plate.
5. Add 3 Tbsp Oil to a pan.
6. Once Oil turns hot, add 1 and 1/2 tsp Mustard Seeds.
7. Once Mustard Seeds splutter, add 1 tsp Urad Dal and roast slightly.
8. Once the Dal turns slightly golden in color, add 8-10 Curry Leaves.
9. Add 3 slit Green Chillies.
10. After frying Green Chillies for few minutes, add 1 finely chopped big-sized Onion.
11. After mixing for a minute, add 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder.
12. Fry till the Onions turn soft.
13. Now add finely chopped 1 Big-sized tomato.
14. Fry till the Tomatoes are cooked well and turn soft.
15. Once the Tomatoes are cooked completely, add 2 and 1/2 Cup hot water.
16. Mix once and allow the mixture to boil.
17. Add 1/2 Tbsp Sugar and Salt as per taste.
18. Once the mixture starts to boil, add the roasted Rava and allow it to boil.
19. Cook till the Rava absorbs water and turns slightly thick.
20. Add 1/4 Cup freshly grated Coconut and mix well.
21. Add 1 tsp Lemon Juice and mix well.
22. Add 2 Tbsp finely chopped Coriander Leaves, mix well and switch off the flame.
