Journal of Discourses is not LDS canonized scripture (Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price) nor official doctrine of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The Journal of Discourses is not an official publication of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is a collection of sermons, speeches given for a variety occasions, funeral addresses, reports from returning missionaries, prayers, and other materials from the early years of the Church, which were transcribed and then published. It includes some doctrinal instruction but also practical teachings, some of which are speculative in nature and some of which are only of historical interest. The Journal of Discourses was produced under the guidance of those who transcribed the materials, including George D. Watt, David W. Evans, and George W. Gibbs. Prophets, Apostles, and Leaders of the past may have said somethings that may have been misquoted, misunderstood, transcribed incorrectly, taken out of context, conscientiously, unintentionally, or maliciously added to or incorrect things said about that person. Some of the things they believed or taught were due to the thinking of that time period. You’d say, I am bias. Yes, I would agree, I’m here to build faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ as TAUGHT by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and not those that spread LIES. Antis and those against also have a bias against the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and will spread lies, falsehoods, half-truths, twist our truth, sensationalize our doctrine, call good evil and evil good. I never claimed I never knew about these things. I’ve been hearing these LIES for the last 40+ years. Much of these LIES has been circulated and recirculated by the ANTIs from the beginnings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Most have been debunked. There are many videos that address a lot of these LIES. As I’ve stated, ANTIs DON’T get to define what the beliefs, doctrine and teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are. We haven’t been teaching these LIEs for the last 190+ years. That’s a LIE. Can you show us the sources from the OFFICIAL canonized scriptures (Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price) and from our OFFICIAL study manuals of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints that show that we’ve been teaching these supposed doctrines in our Sunday School classes, in our Seminary Classes, in our Adult Institute Classes, etc. No, because most of what’s in this video are LIES. And the Journal of Discourses is not an official publication of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Though, some of the things in there are doctrine, some are SPECULATIVE (opinions, hearsay), some maybe misquoted and/or transcribed incorrectly, etc. ANTIs accuse The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of hiding its doctrine, teachings, and history from its members, yet I knew about the Mountains Meadows Massacre in Seminary (4 years of Seminary in High School) as well as polygamy, etc. ANTIs say that we don’t tell people everything before they are baptized. Well, did Paul tell the early Christians everything (milk before meat - 1 Corinthians 3:2). Do other Christians when converting (accepting Christ as their Savior) a new member tell them before they convert everything about their teachings, belief, and history (much of it dark). Do they tell a person (a Buddhist) before they convert; Oh, by the way, you know your mother (a Buddhist) that just died a month ago is going to hell, and your grandparents (Muslims) that you love very much, oh yeah, they are going to hell also. Oh, yeah, about a century ago, our church was pro slavery and up to a several decades ago, we were pro segregationist, etc. Those that are truly seeking truth will go to the actual source. The reason many of the ANTIs and those that slander The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, its members, and its leaders spread these LIES is because they must believe that their belief system, doctrines and teachings cannot stand up to the gospel of Jesus Christ as taught by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as what we define they are (not the ANTIs), so ANTIs and others like them have to resort to spreading LIES, Falsehoods, half-truths, twist our truth, take things and our history out of context, insert made up words and sayings to demonize The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, its leaders, and its members. If they were to look into their own histories, into the writings and sayings of many of their founding fathers, they’d find many skeletons, false teachings, their belief system changed from the beginning (what was taught before), they’d find many ungodly acts: The Inquisition The Witch Killings Slavery (Many Christians believed in slavery) Racism / Segregation / Bigotry (Lynching, keep the races separate, etc) The Execution of Heretics The plunder of treasures from many peoples Etc., Etc., Etc. Many of these things they accuse The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints of doing or believing, etc. They point the finger, but 3 (fingers) are pointed right back at them. The Bible are full of imperfect people (prophets included). Judas Iscariot betrayed Christ, Peter denied Christ 3 times, Paul persecuted and had many of the Saints killed (murdered). Moses had whole cities (men, women, and children) killed (slaughtered). You say that God never commanded the practice of polygamy, yet some of the prophets practiced polygamy (Abraham, Jacob, David, and others such as King Solomon, etc.), so as you say, (if) God didn’t command the practice of polygamy, so then, God must have allowed it. The House of Israel (God’s Covenant People, the 12 Tribes of Israel) came out of polygamous marriages. 2 Samuel 12:7 - 8 7 And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. The people who made this video literally named it “Banned Mormon Video.” This video was not made by Mormons nor was it ‘banned’ from anywhere lmfao..Its clickbait.. It’s meant to be a parody of some sorts. This video hints at some Mormon beliefs but then twists them around and adds a shit load of untrue stuff to make it seem even more wacky.

He was not looking for treasure.. he was hired by Josiah Stowell on a treasure scouting expedition, because Josiah had heard rumors of it being in the area..he hired Joseph because he believed he was a “seer,” someone who could predict things before they happen or sense things not visible to the senses.. it was actually through Joseph’s persuasion to Josiah that they weren’t going to find anything, that led them to stop the search.

Today, in 2024, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has 17+ million members throughout the world and 100,000+ missionaries (Full-time, Senior (Older Adults), and Service Missionaries). Approx half of the Church are people of color. In Fact, Africa is the fasting growing area of the Church today followed by Central and South America. The Phillippines is the fastest growing part of the Church in Southeast Asia. Back then, the Church grew by a million members every 3 - 4 years. Today, though the growth rate has significantly slowed down, the Church still grows by a million members every 4 - 5 years. That’s approx. 20,000 baptisms a month. Trust me, I'm Mormon myself and some of this stuff is complete nonsense, such as "Endless celestial sex" and "Jesus had 3 wives and fathered many children" and "God visited Mary to have sex with her to give Jesus a mortal body". And yes this is false because no where in the book of Mormon, d&c, pearl of great price, or any others will you find scriptures about God having Sex. It is a falsehood. Mormons never believed that, nor Jesus being a husband and father.

Mormons of my generation still believe much of this. While it is true that blacks have been allowed to receive all the temple endowments and the priesthood none of the underlying doctrines were nullified. Younger generation of Mormons have no idea of the doctrines and are trying to make the Church to suit themselves.

Journal of Discourses is not LDS canonized scripture (Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants and Pearl of Great Price) nor OFFICIAL doctrine of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. The Journal of Discourses is not an official publication of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is a collection of sermons, speeches given for a variety occasions, funeral addresses, reports from returning missionaries, prayers, and other materials from the early years of the Church, which were transcribed and then published. It includes some doctrinal instruction but also practical teachings, some of which are speculative in nature and some of which are only of historical interest. The Journal of Discourses was produced under the guidance of those who transcribed the materials, including George D. Watt, David W. Evans, and George W. Gibbs. How LDS doctrine are established: LDS Doctrine are established through the scriptures, through revelation, through inspiration, and at times through much pondering and prayer. Just because earlier leaders may have or may not have said something, if it is not placed in our canonized scriptures and in our OFFICIAL The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Study Manuals that we teach from year after year, then IT IS NOT DOCTRINE. The House of Israel (God’s Covenant People, the 12 Tribes of Israel) came out of polygamous marriages. 2 Samuel 12:7 - 8 7 And Nathan said to David, Thou art the man. During the early days of the church, almost every Christian denomination was racist against blacks and Native Americans except The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Unlike so many others, The Church policy has never sanctioned a segregated congregation and blacks have always had membership in the church. Yes, God has at several times in the history of man restricted the priesthood to a limited number of people. And yes, extending the privilege and honor to all peoples was a glorious day that we can all rejoice in. Nevertheless, Blacks have always had the same promises of eternal reward that whites do. Black and white will receive blessings in exactly the same manner- by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the gospel. The Journal of Discourses is not an official publication of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is a collection of sermons, speeches given for a variety occasions, funeral addresses, reports from returning missionaries, prayers, and other materials from the early years of the Church, which were transcribed and then published. It includes some doctrinal instruction but also practical teachings, some of which are speculative in nature and some of which are only of historical interest. The Journal of Discourses was produced under the guidance of those who transcribed the materials, including George D. Watt, David W. Evans, and George W. Gibbs. Approximately half of the 17+ million members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are non-White or people of color (from Africa, Southeast Asia, Pacific Islands, Central & South America and many other places). At least 1.5 million are Black members or have Black descent (from all over the world, in the United States, in Brazil, including Africa). They are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because they have come to the knowledge of the gospel of Jesus Christ through studying, pondering, and prayer. They have received a witness by the power of the Holy Ghost that the Book of Mormon is true, another testament of Jesus Christ, that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God, and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is God's kingdom here on earth, restored in these last days. Of course, some (people of color) were born into the church and will have to come to their own knowledge of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I’m not going to say that early members and leaders of the Church weren’t racist. A lot of it was due to being a product of their times. Just as in other Churches, there are some members and leaders that are or have been racist. About 200 years ago, a lot of people (members and leaders) of many of the different Christian churches (Catholic, Presbyterian, Episcopalian, Lutheran, Southern Baptist, Church of Christ, etc.) and society at large would have been considered racist or showed bigotry towards people of different races (Blacks, Chinese, Japanese, Irish, Indians, etc.) , especially in the South. Many of these other Christian churches supported and justified slavery from the Bible and the Curse of Cain (Ham) . Many of them supported segregation and redlining until the 1960s. In the early days of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day, its leaders and members supported abolition (ending of slavery, to free all slaves). That is one of the reasons the Church suffered much persecution in the South (Missouri, etc.) In the 1840s, Joseph Smith ran for President of the United States on a platform to end slavery, 20 years before Abraham Lincoln. Unfortunately, Joseph Smith was killed as a candidate running for President of the United States in 1844. The Latter-day Saints fled to Utah (part of Mexico at the time and Indian territory) because of continued persecution in 1847. After the United States took over the Mexican Territories north of the Rio Grande River in 1848, Utah became a territory of the United State and chose to be a free (non-slave) territory. Most of the members and leaders in the early days of the Church were converts from others Christian churches and some of them (including Brigham Young - 2nd Prophet of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who formerly was a Methodist) possibly brought over some of their beliefs of the Curse of Cain from the other Christian churches which supported and justified slavery from the Bible. During Brigham Young’s time, even though the Church didn’t support slavery, began to restrict the priesthood and temple ordinances (1852 - 1978) from Blacks due to (in my understanding) in the belief of the Curse of Cain and discrimination due to that belief and possibly because many Blacks at the time were slaves. However, many people of color (American Indians, Polynesians (Hawaiians Samoans, Tongan, etc.), Southeast Asians, etc. at the time could hold the priesthood and participate in temple ordinances (my ancestors (Hawaiians from 1850) being some of them. Most Hawaiians were as dark or even darker then some of the Blacks were. The Curse of Cain was a belief that was taught way before The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was established by many other non-LDS Christians (Catholic, Southern Baptist, Presbyterian, Espicopal, Lutheran, Church of Christ, etc., especially in the South. In the United Methodist Church, even though the founders didn’t believe in or supported slavery the church became divided in which some of the church supported and some did not. To say that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, its leaders, and its members (as a whole) are racist today is a big LIE. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints helps people of ALL colors throughout the world including helping a lot in Africa to lift the people out of poverty. The Church has given disaster relief to people in Haiti, Southeast Asia, Africa, Central and South America and all around the world. The Church has given millions to Black Colleges for scholarships, etc. The Church has donated funds to help repair other non-LDS churches. The Church has donated to foodbanks throughout the world. Today, the fast growing area of the Church is in Africa, followed by Central and South America. The reason many Blacks are or becoming members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is because they have come or are coming to a knowledge of the Gospel of Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit, they have seen the fruits of the gospel, they have felt the redeeming love of their Savior through the lives of the other members and missionaries. Also, many don’t believe the many LIES propagated by ANTIs and those whose sole aim is to denigrate The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, its members and leaders as racist. Even Gladys Knight became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. There are 10s of thousands of Black members in the United States today.

We had Polynesians (Hawaiians, Tongans, Samoans, Tahitians. etc.) joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in large numbers from the 1850s. Today, at least half of the membership of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints are non-white. - We don't teach that Elohim (God the Father) and 1 of his many wives came down to earth as Adam and Eve to start the human race. - We do not teach that God the Father came down to earth to have sex with the VIRGIN Mary to provide Jesus with a physical body. - We do not believe nor teach that Jesus Christ was married nor had 3 wives. - We do not believe nor teach that Jesus Christ fathered many children and that Joseph Smith is a direct descendant of Jesus Christ. Joseph Smith never claimed to be a direct descendant of Jesus Christ. - We do not teach that after Jesus Christ's resurrection that He, Jesus Christ came to America to preach to the Indians. We teach that he came to preach to His other sheep (John 10:16) - We do not teach that the “dark-skinned” Lamanites killed all the “light-skinned” Nephites by 420AD. - Joseph Smith was not commanded to organize the mormon church. There is no such thing. He was instructed and given authority to RESTORE the Church of Jesus Christ. - Joseph Smith did not originate these peculiar doctrines as the video says. Joseph Smith received revelation and inspiration by the gift and power of God to RESTORE the gospel of Jesus Christ (Faith in Jesus Christ, Repentance (turning away from sin), Baptism by immersion by proper authority, and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost). -Joseph Smith never said nor claimed that he did more for mankind including more than Jesus Christ. That is FALSE, FALSE, FALSE and FALSE. That’s a LIE. -We do not teach that ALL will be judged by Jesus Christ, Joseph Smith, and God the Father. God the Father has given all judgement to Jesus Christ. Christ will have some assist him in judgement. Joseph Smith may be there to assist, just as the 12 Apostles in the New Testament, and all the Prophets; past, present, and future. John 5:22 & 27 22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: 27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man. Matthew 19:28 28 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. -We do not believe nor teach that Joseph Smith shed his blood for us, so that we can become gods. FALSE, FALSE, FALSE - We do not have to abstain from caffeine-based products - There is no such thing as a mormon magic underwear. We wear Temple garments, which is worn under our regular clothing. - There is no teaching or motivation for male members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints to commit to requirements with the promise of endless celestial sex with thousands of goddess wives. That’s a bunch of LIES. - There is no such teaching nor belief in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints regarding males being castrated at their entrance into heaven for not meeting certain requirements. This video is full of LIES. Truths we regained through the restoration: - God the Father and Jesus Christ are 2 separate and distinct beings of flesh and bones (perfect). The Holy Ghost is the personage of Spirit. God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost are ONE in Unity, Love, Purpose, Mission, Understanding, etc. In His intercessory prayer, Christ prayed to the Father, that we all maybe one as he and the Father are one (John 17:20 - 22). We do not believe in the Trinity of the Nicene, Athanasian, and Apostle’s Creeds of the 4th and 5th century. - All children are saved in Christ. NO infant baptisms - 3 levels of Heaven. Christ said in my Father’s house are many mansions (John 14:2). Paul saw a man caught up to the 3rd heaven (2 Corinthians 12:2). In the resurrection, our bodies will be resurrected into 1 of 3 degrees of glory (Celestial - glory of the Sun, Terrestrial - glory of the moon, glory of the stars (known as the Telestial glory) and we shall attain also a kingdom of that same glory (1 Corinthians 15:40 - 42). We believe that most (those that have come to earth) will inherit 1 of the 3 kingdoms of heaven. Only a very few will go to Hell (everlasting hell, outer darkness, lake of fire and brimstone) -Baptism for the Dead (Proxy baptism in behalf of decease ancestors or individuals). We believe that those that did not have a full opportunity to hear of Jesus Christ and accept the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ as taught by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and/or the early day Church of Jesus Christ/God will have an opportunity in the spirit world (between death and the final judgement / resurrection) to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ and accept it or not accept it. It is their choice. Because Christ said that baptism is necessary to enter the kingdom of God (John 3:3 - 5), members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints can be baptized in behalf of their ancestors in the Temples of God, so that they (the deceased, who are spirits now in the spirit world) can accept the baptism done in their behalf and be saved in the kingdom of God. So whether they be Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Atheist, other Christians, etc., they all will have an opportunity to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior (if they haven’t done so already), accept His gospel and be redeemed of Him, whose LOVE and Mercy extends to all of God’s Children who will receive it whether in this life or in the life to come. Only Lucifer, those that followed him in the pre-existence (pre-earth life), the sons of perdition, those that blasphemy against the Holy Ghost and the very wicked will go to the everlasting Hell (outer darkness, lake of fire and brimstone). As mentioned earlier in the 3 levels of Heaven, most of God’s children will inherit 1 of the 3 kingdoms of heaven. John 5:25 - 29 1 Peter 3:18 - 22 1 Peter 4:6 1 Corinthians 15:29 - Eternal Families. Christ said, "Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." Matthew 18:18 Christ said, that in the resurrection there is no marriage nor is anyone given in marriage, so eternal marriage (sealing) has to be done on earth by ones having the proper authority to seal on earth, so it is bound in heaven (Matthew 18:18). It has to be done before the resurrection and the final judgement. These are just a few of the truths restored through the Prophet Joseph Smith.
