Not a Maccas, but another fastfood sit down chain. Had a last minute burger order, literal 1 minute before close, I had already cleaned the grill and had just flicked the fryer off. One burger and fries, mid rare, no pickles. Bet your ass I dunked my (gloved) hands into the pickle juice before touching EVERY part of that meal.

One day the regional manager and a couple of local store managers were doing a tour of our store to see how our new manager was doing. High marks, high praise all around. I was working on a salad when something dripped on my hand, a watery, grey drop. It didn't move off my hand, it jiggled. When I looked up I saw the air vent on the ceiling was dripping condensation water and congealed vent dust. When I asked my manager to come take a look at this amazing public health spectacle, he looked up. Then he kept looking back at me and back at the vent, until he finally said "oh that's normal" with a nervous grimace. It was never fixed and I quit 3 weeks later.

I worked at a McDonald's in Adelaide back in the mid 2000s. It was a franchise store that was right place right time so it just drowned in revenue. As such the franchisee was really relaxed, plus genuinely a pretty good dude. Anyway due to being one of the first overnight stores, it became really common for morning staff, if they got obliterated the night before, to crash in the crew room before their shift. One night I was at a friend's 18th and got my way through a full bottle of Jim Beam and had a 6am start. So bourbon brained me decide to ride my pushy to work and crash in the crew room. I get there and the night manager wouldn't let me in. So I decide to go through drive through on my pushy and get a burger. We have an argument and he slams the drive through window on me, hitting me in the face. So of course I did the most logical thing, and put my fist through the drive through window. Safe to say. I sought employment else where the next day. Also 2 weeks prior, some of the lads blew up a Motorola flip phone in the microwave.

I used to work at Maccas. On one particular occasion, there was a man smoking ice in the drive thru. The manager asked him to come in the store and wait for the police to arrive, as she had just called them. He politely agreed and waited in the dining room for an hour and a half. The cops didn't show, and we let him go. Nicest meth user I've ever heard of.

💥 Fun fact: the Ronald Mcdonald House Charity is (probably?) the only [corporation-run] charity [that asks you if you wanna donate at the checkout] that isn't just a clear tax write-off... I can't say much for how they run the whole thing but it is legit: when I was a kid, me and my family stayed in a Ronald Mcdonald House in Spokane, Washington. My baby sister had been born very prematurely and was in the NICU at Sacred Heart Children's Hospital, so we needed a place to stay for a while, that's where RMHC stepped in. It's basically like a hotel but for families who need a place to stay while their kid is in the hospital. There was an open kitchen there and a laundry room too, a fridge there had lots of homemade dishes, they had stuff to play with, it was really cool of them and a relief for my family. My sister is fine, she's 15 now ( : edit: edits added in [brackets] because I was tired and forgot words, so I accidentally sounded like an absolute shill 😶‍🌫💀

A lot of charities are not ‘just a clear tax write-off’, personally I would say most of the charities in the world exists to do good work by their definitions. But doing good work quietly doesn’t make an impression in public so we remember those who steal or make a mockery of charities or those are harmful. This is an unfortunate predicament for most public facing institutions, they’re remembered by only with their negatives because we expect them to be good and competent as a default.

The 40 butters and a ketchup, I used to occasionally do a similar thing when I worked there overnight. I'd do an order for 10 salt, 10 pepper, 10 ketchup and 10 butter. Because the order would for some reason go to both front and kitchen printers. So all my coworkers not on break would see this mile long order slip and think it was a real order (at 4 am when it was skeleton crew because of breaks and shift change) and have a mini panic attack. Then see the order and my dumb ass smiling at them from the kiosk

Not Maccas but I worked at Red Rooster. The busiest day of the year at red rooster for some reason is Melbourne Cup, and due to terrible restaurant management, we ran out of chickens that day. The genius manager wanted to microwave our raw chickens for 20 mins and then finish them off in the oven for another 30 mins, to save cooking time. The standard cooking method is 50 minutes in the oven. I tried to explain how little sense it made to do that, but he kept talking over me and saying stuff about microwaves cooking things faster because of stored water pockets in the meat or some shit. Anyway no one died (at least as far as I know). The horse did though.

We decided that Ronald had finally had enough of the joy riding, and decided to return him. So we climbed onto the roof and deposited him at the peak, so he could properly sit on his throne of obesity and capitalism. I am so glad I grew up before phones had cameras.

I think I know the “negative burger” thing. Basically as a way to keep as much money, they altered the price of the individual ingredients in the customise burger menu of the self serve machines to put the bulk of the price on the meat itself, however whoever did this seems to have failed at maths because removing everything (which leaves just the bun) has it priced at -$0.05. Obviously just order enough of these to cover your normal mean and voila, free meal.

My flat mate used to work at McDonalds for years, this is her worst story. For context this happened on a main street in a big city in Scotland. On night a bunch of kids (12-14) came in all in suits or dresses, clearly just leaving a school dance. It was about 23:00 so they closed the upstairs and the only toilet was the disabled one, but you had to ask staff to give you the key at that time of night. Anyway she gave these kids the key and they all went inside. She thought that was odd but was too busy to care, skip forward 10 minutes and none of them had come out yet. So they went up to investigate they heard strange noises from the door and asked if everything was alright but got no answer. They unlocked the door and found all these kids were having a full blown orgy in the McDonald's toilet. They had to phone the police and everything.

Dad drunk a block of emu export to himself one night and wanted maccas, way over .05 dad and the 14yr old me drove to the drive thru, dad ordered and when we get to the window, they gave dad the wrong order then argued they where right, so he drives out the front, pulls 10+ pavers from the footpath and puts them onto the truck, drives back thru the drive thru, jumps out, and proceeds to brick the entire drive thru. Smashed all windows on both drive thru booths, 3 massive side windows and 6 floor to ceiling windows out the front, staggers back to the truck, and drives less than 500m to the hungry jacks drive thru, orders and drives past the maccas he just destroyed with cops everywhere, driving up our street i could see the red and blue lights, got to the house and theres 4 paddy wagons out the front of the house. Dad tries to drive past the house and the cops prodeed to ram the truck, stop it, and next minute dads punching on with 2 cops. Went to court and got 9months prison,(thus is 1995), Remember that night til this day.

I CANNOT BELIEVE I MISSED THIS ONE. My aunt was one hell of a party girl when she was younger, so she says, and one time, in the middle of the night, went through the Macca's drive-through with her 3 friends on foot. How did her absurdly drunk mind go through this? Well, the assumed a car formation (my aunt was driving, one friend in the passenger seat, and two in the back) and walked through the drive-through. They pretended to be in the car, the whole time, the person in the front fucking with the radio, my aunt telling people to get back in their seats whenever they got out of formation, the works. I cannot for the life of me remember whether or not they got food or not, but I still think that this is one that Jordan would have found hilarious. Ah, well.

worked at maccas for 4 years. at maccas they have a yearly corporate audit where they check the cleanliness of the business and to check that employees are following procedures. as my store was never deep cleaned my RM had put the responsibility for cleaning the entire store on me and me alone. The year before he had done the same. I put in 12 hour days working 6 days a week for 3 weeks and we got like a 89% in cleanliness with zero thanks. three weeks before the audit my RM went on a work conference for 2 weeks. as I knew he was getting on the plane for his conference I handed in my 2 week notice knowing the store was beyond fucked with mold being caked on and near the bun steamer and other things equally as disgusting. I was told by my old co workers that they had to get heaps of people from other stores in to get the store presentable the night before the audit. Only did it because the RM was trying to sweep sexual assult alligations between a manager and 10 underage crew under the rug that I had reported.

Worked at a truck stop McDonald’s in Brisvegas. A few insider tips was to unplug the bun steamer whenever a large islander family was ordering, for some reason they’d always order 2 or more family box on steamed buns so we’d unplug the steamer and convince the managers it was broken. Whenever a good looking lady would pass by all us 18-21 yo stoners out back would yell out “cheese, no cheese” as loud as we could to alert each other. My favourite story would be when a guy ordered 11 hamburgers and complained there wasn’t enough sauce on them. After I proceeded to add more sauce he came back in a rage saying the sauce was on the wrong side. He proceeded to throw all 11 at everyone behind the counter. Classy

Irrelevant to McDonald's but the crack in the basement story reminds me of when I worked at a Servo. It was near the end of my night-shift between 8-9am and walked into the toilets to clean them and I saw this guy snorting SOMETHING off the toilet seat... of all the surfaces in the restroom, he chose the toilet seat... He apologized and left pretty quickly. It still perplexes me to this day.

I used to work the overnight shift at a drive-thru store; on Friday and Saturday nights, we’d usually have two extra people on shift to support the main overnight crew. One particularly quiet weekend, my coworker and I were mucking around and making animal noises on the headsets between orders (as one usually does). The centre button on the headsets lets you talk to your coworkers, while the two side buttons allow you to talk to customers. The buttons are very close together. Keep this in mind. Anyway, my friend started barking at me like a dog through the headset as a car rolled in. I pressed what I thought was the centre button and barked back, kinda like Brian from Family Guy. As the world around me fell silent, I realised my truly unforgivable mistake. Moments later, all I could hear were bellows of laughter from all directions: the customers through my headset, my friend, my coworkers and the manager in the kitchen, all were all pissing themselves laughing. The laughter sustained for about thirty seconds, but it may as well have been a century. I was *mortified* beyond imagine. Although the customers were good sports about it, I felt so bad for them that I ended up shouting them their order.

I'm still clueless how they made it out of the bathroom. Just an incredible amount of shit. Used to work at Macca's. Not sure if they still use it now, but back then, they used to use these vertical sauce bottles that had the loading mechanism + the sauce bottle itself which you would fill up. These sauces were used for the more gourmet burgers + limited edition burgers that used your non-standard sauces. The thing about these devices is that the trigger mechanism would get really wet and moist and hold sauce residue inside the trigger mechanism. As part of Food Safety they were meant to be cleaned out every night by night crew. How often were they really cleaned? Never. One day, I noticed a foul stench from the bottles while making a burger and after opening the sauce device up, I found it was plastered with slimy mould, chunky gunk, and ungodly horrors that would make anyone sick. The smell was attrocious and I can still remember it to this day. I raised it with the managers and their response was "Huh, we'll get night crew to take care of it". The next day on my shift, when I checked on the bottle triggers, they were still all full of the devil's breakfast. I would constantly tell the managers and they would just yell at me and get me to clean it so I stopped saying anything 😂 If you ever got sick from Macca's back in 2014-2016, chances are it was either due to uncooked meat, or these sauce bottles that no one ever cleaned. If they still use the same sauce bottles today, I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't cleaned. Food Safety inspectors would have a field day lol. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

I never go to Maccas but the last two times I was there are nuts. Most recently, I was busting for the loo, and the only place to stop was Whittlesea Maccas. I walk into the bathroom and there's 'brown' smeared on the walls. Now, if I was not desperate, I would have just turned and walked out. But I was, so I quickly 'went' and then washed my hands with hot water and soap for like a minute. The other time I was at Melb Central Station and needed my water refilled. Now, the Maccas there has two windows, and I'm on the less busy Melb central side. I ask for water and the goes and gets some. In the 2 minutes I'm waiting, two teens approach, one of them jumps the counter while the other films, and serves himself a soft serve. They are giggling like hyenas at this point. The kid hops back over the counter and I'm expecting them to just wander off with their free soft-serve. But this kid fucking hurls the ice-cream back through the window splattering it all over the wall. The guy comes back with my ice-cold water and then just stares at the ice-cream mess as though it's the third time it's happened this week.

Did the PJ gig in the 1990's at Eastern Creek with 27 mates and the GF. Hired a normal sized bus for transport. Anyways, after it, the 27 others (one missing, another story) decided Guildford Maccas was the go. Bus driver was cool (we gave him a number of smokey incentives) so we tried the drive through. Seemed like a cool idea, until we got wedged between the building and the other side gutter. Half the staff cracked it, their bosses lost it. We just laughed. A few cops, a lot of abuse and a tow driver later, we were on our way hungry but still pssing ourselves. Found out later the driver lost his job over it. Good times.

Well, I did quit my job at a McDonald’s once. So that’s close. Probably can’t go back to that location anyway. Cops got called twice in my first week working there, that was, like, two times too many honestly. Kinda tapped out after a point. Wasn’t worth it for a second job overnight paying minimum wage. lol First one was just a drunk who fell asleep in line, was told that happened pretty regularly. But he basically ground the whole operation at the windows to a halt until the cops could come peel him out of his car. The second one though, was nuts. Guy just started yelling incomprehensibly at me through the window, very animated, very angry. Manager immediately jumps in. Find out he’s mad because he says his daughter was improperly rung up two days prior for a chicken sandwich that should’ve been free with a coupon. He’s threatening to kill people, cops show up, he speeds away. Dunno if they got him. Like I said up top, I actually just straight up didn’t come back to work the next day. Place had other issues too, had to cut off all my hair for the gig, had a manager die. All in a week mind you. Was running a window with a lady who worked for the mayor and also needed a second gig to make ends meet, we’d talk about her freaking masters program in between customers. Again, just wayyyyyyy too much madness for what it paid, all I needed was a quiet overnight gig so I could maybe pay my bills. Wasn’t looking to get killed for Ronald McDonald over a bad coupon that’s for sure.

Used to work in a Hungry Jacks at the Sunshine Coast - there were several attempted kidnappings of staff by a group of men who would wait for us to walk out at night in vans. One guy once threw bloody razors through the drive through window and told the girl in training he would assault her. Countless crackheads trying to get behind the counter to harass the young girls because the managers made all the boys work in the kitchen and all the girls on service. Lots of drunk people. But the worst of it all? The public bathrooms. Because you see, we were right next to a small petrol station and there were public bathrooms that both companies agreed to co-look after. The horror stories of blood, feces and semen I had to clean up by hand as a 16 year old was insane. And the fact that they only made the young girls clean both the men’s and woman’s bathrooms. There were several assaults made by men on some of the girls who were cleaning the men’s bathrooms. I was one of the lucky few who didn’t because I ran as soon as someone would open the door when I was cleaning. Only after I left did I hear they hired cleaners. Management never did anything. Cops were basically never called over anything unless it was bad enough that someone needed to go to hospital - not even when the girls were assaulted or one of the girls almost got taken away in a van by one of the groups of men. But there’s a lot of illegal shit management did so they weren’t about to stick their necks out for anyone. Edit: I should add that the main manager in charge was an EXTREMELY sexist, awful man who made us girls basically do everything he and the boys didn’t want to. He also tried to get a bunch of us girls to “Write him a structured argument on why we should stay in our jobs, complete with lists of what our biggest fears and weaknesses are.” I kid you the hell not. Almost none of us did it. I think two girls did because they were scared of being fired, even though the rest of us told them not to. He tried to convince us that this was important so he could help us “work on our flaws” and “become a better manager for it” - he was the most manipulative and abusive man I have ever had the misfortune of meeting. He tried to “take me under his wing” and would make me stay with him hours after my shift until like 2am outside in the cold almost every day because he wanted to “teach me” how to grow as a person. I felt like my life was in genuine danger every night I was around him. I heard years later that he covered for another male manager who was caught with pictures of some of the underage female staff on his phone. And he basically told him he was sending him to transfer to another location so that he wouldn’t get into trouble. Though I have no proof of this, I do not doubt the source it came from. That place was cursed, and I have never been back - it triggers my anxiety to even think about that place.

Where I live(smaller town in Germany) McDonald's is open from 7:00 am to 1:30 am (3:30 am on weekends), but the last few hours only the drive-thru is open, while the rest has already been cleaned(at least this was the case when I was younger). So you had to walk through the drive-thru if you wanted anything to eat. If you used a push-bike on top of that, they probably would not care; if you were wasting the time of other hangry customers behind you, they would be your problem rather than the employees. Reality might have been different during lockdown. Fun fact: there is a "McBoat" for canoes etc. in Hamburg.

It was a Friday night close shift, I climbed on top of the crew room toilet and pissed directly into the soap dispenser. Coming back in on for the Sunday afternoon shift, nobody had discovered it yet but had been using it. A WEEK later, the manager pulled me into the office and asked what happened to the soap dispenser, I just played dumb like I had no idea. Little did I know was my distinct, leather vans wafer pattern embedded on the toilet seat where I had stood to piss. Lucky I was good with the managers and nothing ever came of it, but many of my crew members had been washing their hands in my piss and cooking/serving food and taking orders for 7 whole days.

He would also drive around town (the gong) at 70km/hr as he gave me a lift onetime, never again. Good bloke and somewhat great manager 👍 UHC trays timers being reset on repeat. It’s late, however it’s too good not to tell. I was once at Stanmore McDonald’s after a drunken night out and as it was early morning only the drive thru was open. We were on foot, and decided we’d try our luck walking through and before we even got the chance we were met with another customer (an all white unmarked van with a sticker on the back saying something vague about it being a government vehicle”. Being young and drunk I began banging on the back of the van for them to hurry up, only to be yelled at to stop and have some respect for the deceased body in the back.. because it was a morgue transport van.. I get they need to eat too, but surely they would bring a packed dinner and not take a body along to grab some food..

No, but then I don’t go there but on an uplifting note Mc Donald’s has been banned from most places in Greeece, after 10 years of legal gymnastics they have been allowed 6 locations…. That’s how it’s done.

My favorite memory from working at mcdonalds was when a guy ordered a flat white then once at the window changed his mind and wanted a latte. I (having worked there at the time for like 2 weeks) was about to make a new coffee when the best manager comes over with the coffee, turns the steam on for a minute then takes the coffee back to him and he happily took it.

My old friend once got our entire group kicked out for filling his empty milkshake cup with ketchup, an employee saw him as he was just finishing it and " removed us from the premises so we wouldn't make a mess with it "...

I wasn't kicked out but I was working and I got to kick people out. This was back in NZ, at 2 a taxi full of drunk people came through the drive thru and they were extremely wasted. They must have had a bad night because they very quickly went from drunk and rowdy to drunk and very abusive. The thing about maccas in NZ (at least in my city) the clubs all close at 2am and a vast majority of the drunks go to Maccas. I told them that I wouldn't be serving them and that they would need to just leave when they're able. They sat in the drive thru for about 20-30 minutes (as the lobbyist packed like sardines with hungry drunks, so orders go out slow due to sheer volume of orders compared to how many employees were working (all 3 of us) 🙃) My manager didn't even question my executive decision, they proceeded to hurl profanities from the car park for about 2 hours trying to goad me into giving up my own personal information?? Good memories.

Jordan's inner anger is building. You can just tell. Its an anger sourced from being chronically unimpressed. Its especially obvious if you watch older videos to new quickly. Soon hell snap and run for PM. Theres a required threshold of anger in order to do that.

My first job at 14 and 9 months was at Macca's. The one I was employed for was being built, and so we trained at two closer ones, and the one I trained at... this is a long time ago, I think it was Mulgrave? And they had a basement. It doesn't seem to be common though.

My guess is that the basement story is from another country. I don’t know anywhere in Australia besides those underground towns where they mine minerals that had anything resembling basements.
