I did try this exhaust on my 6.7 and was not impressed. When my DPF finally fell off, now that was impressive.

Love that the Banks isn’t raspy or loud. It’s correct and looks good. Banks seems to have a good product. Can’t wait to see how the Ram air pipe comes out,

There is actually a slight tone difference. There ‘22s are very quiet and it gives it a deeper tone. Hard to tell on camera. Thanks for the comment by the way!

That was exactly how we were unboxing this thing. They more than likely got completely missed or they flew off in the wind. We took the scenic route and just did a little measuring. I bet this pipe would sound amazing if it weren’t for all the upstream flow restriction. I installed it as well. That plug was an O2 sensor on my truck, and a real pain to remove from the old exhaust.

Oh, I agree 100%. All of the DPF that is upstream is nothing but restrictions. Interesting that the plug had a sensor, I wonder why it would be different from truck to truck, some having it and some not. Thanks for the comment by the way! Make sure to like and subscribe to the channel!

The very last sensor is a particulate matter sensor, not O2 sensor. Diesel emissions systems don't have O2 sensors, only gassers.

FYI, I called Banks and the Derringer will be available for the 2020 - 2023 6.7 Powerstroke by Christmas or end of January 2024 at the latest.

I’ve been considering getting one of these (funny enough, i have a 2014 in the same blue jeans color as your truck - 200k miles and she’s mostly stil mint - dpf is gone), and I have their ram air intake, diff cover, tuner and the iDash data monster + pedal monster - but it says you can’t put a goose neck hitch on if you use it - which is odd, and i don’t want that limitation right now. Nice video though, it looks great on that silver!

Nice! Are you contemplating getting this exhaust on your 2014? I would recommend going with a full exhaust from the down pipe if so. Although, that is odd about the goose neck. My '16 has a B&W goose neck installed and it cleared a 5" exhaust just fine. There may be slight differences in routing for the pipe, but I would not think it was be that extravagant

@@NRCThings yeah, i’d sure like one - but it says right on the product description that it won’t fit, which i don’t really understand why either. i don’t think there’s any difference between our trucks, so it’s definitely odd they say that but maybe it’s just more of a cover their ass thing? right now i’ve just got a straight pipe to the stock tip!

Gonna sound awesome once that DPF falls off somehow 😉. One step closer. Nice truck man.

What's crazy is how the 5" pipe necked down to stock (3.5":I guess) but before that the small section between the DPF and rear DPF flange it looks even smaller. For velocity? IDK

It just helps the exhaust flow a little better than before. Nothing crazy but does help the slightest bit.

I noticed it helps dissipate the heat better during/after regen. I have a 37” spare that is very close to the exhaust under the bed so I paid attention to the heat level where the tire is closest.

I believe that plug is for a sensor they were running short on during covid. I think one of the recalls now puts it in and then they reflash it. 22E04 I believe

For the '22s it is difficult, but have heard of a few people getting it done. I have heard that they reprogram a '21 computer to a '22 file and then are able to work some magic. As for your '17, they are very capable. Go check out the other video on my page of the blue ford. EZ Lynk + Proven Tuning would be recommendation for your 2017. That will take care of the tuning. Any "delete" or "off-road" pipe for 17-19 will work for exhaust or full 5" will work. May aftermarket dealers offer exhaust. As for the EGR you can leave it in place, or just get some block off plates. Much easier to piece everything together than try to but everything at once. Sound with the exhaust brake is a little more noticeable, as you can hear more turbo and not just full on exhaust noise. I have almost an identical truck to yours. Splurge on some 5100 bilsteins for sub $450. The tremor shocks are just junk. I also put 1.5 taller springs on the front. it should have came from the factory like this, rides night and day better fyi

I heard this could cause EGR problems, is that true?

None on my 2021 F350 ..get the 4” its made from 409 Stainless Steel. The 5” is aluminized steel.

Banks says that you have to adjust your spare tire when using the 5 inch exhaust system. Did you guys have to do that ? If not have you looked at the spare after driving and going thru regens to see if the extreme heat has done anything to it ? Awesome video I subscribed. I will be ordering a 2023 6.7 Tremor soon, same color as yours. Great minds think alike ,😊

We did not have to make any adjustments to the spare tire.. I will take a look at the spare tire but we have not smelled anything out of the norm during regens so I do not think it is causing issues. I will get back with you on it! Thanks for the comment and the sub, and congrats on the '23!

Hey, it me again. Did you ever get to look at the exhaust pipe and how close it is to the spare yet ? Are you having any heat issues with the spare ? Did your exhaust temps lower ? Have you noticed any difference in performance with the intake and exhaust systems you installed ? I am sorry I know I asked a lot of questions, I am just to excited about my truck that I ordered and am trying to gather as much info as possible. Thanks.

@@armedprophet3321 thanks for the comment once again! Yes, I took a look at the spare and there aren’t any issues at all so I don’t think you need to worry. As far as performance, I would say we see slight better performance and lower temps compared to stock just because the truck can breathe better during regen and regular driving. Hope that helps!

It doesn't make sence to me, from the turbo back gases go through the cat and DPF which causes all all the restricted flow till it gets to the Banks section, then opens up to let the flow better.😂

What was the point of buying this?

The point of buying this was to make this truck unique from other vehicles as well as reduce back pressure, change the tone, and reduce EGTs during a regen. All of these were said in the pair of videos that are posted on my page. Thanks for the comment bud!

If it was not so new, it would be. My 2016 did not last but about two months in my driveway with the DPF. Being that it is my dads truck and has pretty much every option, but a sunroof, he figured it was a good idea to do his best to take advantage of the full warranty. There are a lot of expensive components other than the DPF or EGR that just are not proven to be 100% reliable yet. One of those being the new 10 speed. In the future, probably not near future, it will get some breathing room. He also has a 800hp common rail cummins that is being rebuilt right now so this is just his daily.

If you read instructions, it' lists cut of lengths to straight pipe for cab and bed configuration.

In the future, that’s the plan. As of right now because of warranty, no. Too many expensive components on it to take the chance

It is amazing folks just blindly install a bigger diameter exhaust without understanding what it does to the engine!!! When you increase the ID pipe diameter, you SLOW DOWN exhaust gas velocities!!! This is fundamental fluid dynamics and unless you understand what you are doing, better not mess with what the factory has done!!!

Thank you for the comment sir! It amazes me how blindly someone can misunderstand fluid dynamics! I, a mechanical engineer by degree, know exactly how volumetric flow rate works as well as how fluid loses work. I agree, gas velocity slows down. If you go to your volumetric flow rate equation (Q = velocity x area) and you KNOW that volumetric flow rate HAS to stay the same due to the engine only producing so much exhaust gases that tells you that velocity HAS to slow down for area to increase. Exhaust gases escaping is not all about velocity, it is also about back pressure, scavenging, and loses (bends, filters, muffles, smaller pipe diameter, etc). This exhaust gives you an advantage and will allow you to discharge more exhaust gases because of the larger diameter and your choked flow condition will be higher. @@NRCThings Given how competitive this segment of the truck market is, if Ford can gain however little bit of advantage by going to a slightly larger diameter pipe, don't you think they would have done so already. Granted, cost, performance, sound level and emissions all factor in, there is an optimal pipe diameter for the manufacturer to settle on. As for the gases reaching choked flow limitations - is that an assumption or do you have evidence that at max engine RPM, the gas velocities reach a choked condition?!! Everyone automatically think larger diameter is better - I don't know what the ID of the OEM exhaust is but asuming a 3" diameter, you can calculate the corresponding drop in velocities by going to your 5" aftermarket size. And a drop in downstream velocities translate ditectly to a porportional drop in scavanging capacity of the engine at the exhaust ports! With the flow benches along with the hundreds of millions of dollars they have at their disposal, you you really think some aftermarket shop can just make up some pipe and beat the manufacturers at their own game?!!! I'm glad you understand this! I have yet to see anyone do a before / after run on a dyno to prove the claims!

Take the dpf off and it will sound a lot better.

That will be in the future! Trust me, we know how problematic and detrimental that emissions systems are to the life of these engines.
