Bank Manager is Trapped Inside This Safe Since 1929
In Ikot Abasi Akwa Ibom state Nigeria there's a bank safe that has been in the town for atleast 93 years and most of the younger generation in the town do not know the history of the bank safe. I devoted my time to find out the history behind this safe and during my few hours in the town I was able to learn and hear some interesting stories about this bank safe I hope you did enjoy the story

What I also think about this safe is that it may have an escape route like an underground tunnel 😂😂

I am thrilled by your videos... keep it up because its not easy bringing live to history which has been or is being forgotten
Thank God for the elders, without them the truth would be lost to history! This is why it’s important to document, research the information yourself! You now know the importance of that structure, the woman who fought for there rights and dedication of a bank manager who possibly lost his life for his job! Great stream! I too never knew about the woman’s war! Love the video and the information!
Thank you my brother you really amazing.may God 🙏 bless you

Thanks for all you do, to my own understanding I think it's now the first Bank. When I made the research on it's still talking about first Bank.
Brother, so amazing with this very idea
Nice piece, but on what we now call Aba women riot, it didn't start from Owerri or Aba, it started right at Ikot Abasi, don't forget Ikot Abasi was like the seat of power, its started right there and later spread into other province, and I also think all this falsification in our history has to be corrected for proper documentation. And on the building the little I know about it is that, the building was a kind of save used by the British to store their valuable, don't forget the British were merchants on many commodities, setting up camps in different regions in a form of transshipment centre for easy connectivity, while they were into the slave trade business, they were also exploiting other valuable from Africa, such as the minerals deposited beneath,if is what they telling you, the British would have open it to bring out their brothers, what people believe is that there may still be some valuable items inside the save, because they lock the place when leaving Nigeria, and there must have had a very solid reason for locking it,so is left for us to clear our curiosity by opening the save to at least know what's inside.

The protest began at Owerri maybe riot began at Ikot Abasi but protest started when women from some places in Umuahia traveled to Owerri to protest and that is what sparked protest in other places like Aba, Calabar, Igwenga (Ikot Abasi)

@@wowneche you may want to research that, I was surprised that it actually started in ikot Abasi. To think I am from that state and just very recently knew that.

@@wowneche You are very correct. My grandmother took part in that riot from mbaise to Owerri to Aba. If you remember mbaise ppl killed a white man and hung his bicycle on the tree thinking the bicycle will go back and tell of what they did. The white came to avenge their man but mbaise ppl fought back. All these my grandmother told me.

I think inside the bank there's a road out for the manager to escape, maybe the way out is underground

That door actually looks like a bank vault door. Many banks have similar design of vault doors, if you see vault doors in old Union Bank and First Bank branches. Vaults walls are usually thicker than normal and old British doors never really go bad. They should reach out to the vault door makers like Chubb so that they can find a way to open it. There may be a makers name attached to that door.

FirstBank commenced business in 1894 in what was then the British controlled areas, as the Bank of British West Africa. And I learnt that First bank originally served British shipping and trading agencies in Nigeria.

I believe the story though but if they are claiming that this safe couldn't be broken in this present age, then i cant believe that. Only thing i understand is that they dont want to break it so that they can make it as historical museum

Well, why can't they break it and recouple it? It's still historical either way.
IT IS IMPOSSIBLE THAT THE BODY OR SKELETON OF THE BANK MANAGER WOULD BE INSIDE. HE COULD NOT HAVE LOCKED HIMSELF INSIDE WITHOUT CRYING FOR HELP, WATER AND FOOD AFTER SOME DAYS. IT IS OBVIOUS THAT HE LEFT AND ESCAPED BY MIDNIGHT WHEN EVERYONE HAD LEFT THE SCENE OF THE BANK VAULT.

Wownenche, i love your contents àlot. There is a place in Plateau state ( Jos) called Ampang west which is located at a local government called Mangu. It has a crater lake ( the only crater lake in West Africa) called "Am Pudong" history has it that no one has ever been to the centre of that water. Ànd you can't fetch the water from that river. Please make your enquiries.

Why are these amazing victorious Women of Aba not part of the national educational curriculum? Also, why is it called the 'women's war museum' - it makes it sound like the women were just fighting among themselves? Should it not be the 'Aba Women's Victory over the british taxation museum'? We would love the know the names of the women too. How many other wars have women all over the country won yet they have not been given national recognition as they deserve

But the actual name of this village wasn't mentioned... Please, I would like to know more.

If you can lock it from the inside then there's a secret entrance some where around.
They should just dig deep round the foundation, it could lead to something
