Just to let others know, you don’t need to open a checking account with Ally in order to have a savings account. We’ve been with Ally for several years and only have a savings account.

Thank you for sharing. How do you decide how much goes to the credit union account ? Is it everything over your sinking funds? Or does it fit another goal?

We just put whatever we can in there. The goal is to just keep adding to it until it serves as a fully funded emergency fund. Might take years to get to the desired amount since most of our “leftover” income is invested but we’re trucking along slowly 😂

Call and waive the capital one annual fee every year. They waive my fee every year but I do have to call.

Ask the credit card issuer for a product change to avoid annual fee.

Congrats on the promotion... Question though. Went to a MSC career fair and was told time off is now 4 months on, 2 months off. Your thoughts please?

Well it has nothing to do with bank vs credit union. Of all of our accounts, we “mess” with our credit union account the least as far as depositing/withdrawing money. Completely out of sight/out of mind which is the safest place for us to keep large amounts of money

I’d say

You can call or chat with Capitol One to convert your hubby's card to the Quicksilver so you can get the 1.5% cash back. I did it on mine and it was super easy. The age and acct number didn't change, just the benefit.
