Bangkok Nightlife and Thailand in the 80's : A Totally Fun Time!
Ойын-сауық
I first visited Thailand in the 80’s (1987). It was a life changing experience at a crazy time. In thi series of videos I show you my Bangkok nightlife pictures from Patpong and Soi Cowboy. The beauty and friendliness of the Thai girls amazed us and making friends with bar girls was an enlightening experience for us.
I also show my pictures from Chiang Mai and Koh Samui when it really was a tropical paradise and you could get a beachside bungalow for not much more than a Dollar a night. I travelled both solo and with my friends and we were young, dumb and full of fun.
Experience Thailand in the 80’s with me as I show old pictures that offer a valuable insight into Thailand before tourism changed it forever.
This is the fourth of several videos using my many pictures taken between 1987 and 1992. I narrate the pictures to describe what it was like, how it affected us and how Thailand has changed.

Hello Karl my name is Michael, seeing and listening to your stories is like reliving my past experiences in Thailand . I to made my first trip back in 1989 and took photos with slide film and also negatives. I had just got into photography with a Pentax 35mm camera. Since then I have traveled back many times throughout the years on vacations usually about twice a year. I have traveled to many places throughout Thailand also. Maybe one of these days we could meet and have a drink and talk stories. Cheers ! take care

Great memories…..brings back a time when my grandparents were still alive living 25 minutes away from Udon Thani. Rural Thailand 🇹🇭 no electricity where they were living back then but the place sure has changed now! I hope you find more photos and share them with us:)

Great vdo again. Even in 2005 when I first went to my wife’s village near Chaiyaphum they still had the morning news over the speakers. I also remember how the cocks would start crowing at about 3:30 am in the village, it drove me nuts! To escape the noise I would take some blankets and a mosquito net and we would sleep on the farm. Kaeo my wife would tell me Thai stories and the skies were so clear. It was a great experience

Nice work Karl, as you promised me you’re delivering some great stuff here, especially loving the photos. Did any of them ladies ever manage to tie you down for a while or single Karl all the way?

It was certainly a very seductive place at that age lol. Thanks
We were there at the same time, so it's a nice walk down memory lane with your photos and excellent memory of names and places. I will never go back now and don't even want to see the modern version. You left us hanging. Did you simply leave Koi, never to see again or write?

Did you never return after that time David? Btw, do you realise that this video is just one of a series (1989) that I’m doing using my pictures from 87 to 92? There’s a little bit more of Koi in the next video in the series. Thanks for your comments

@@karlsthailand I never returned after what racist, xenophobic Thai Immigration did to disrupt and destroy my business and family there during those years. Would not go back now. This episode popped up in my feed, but I'll look for more. Think I've seen one other, earlier.

Story time with Karl, I like it. Yes, I guess it’s all the same in some ways
i remember beeing there for 3 weeks in 1997 jan/feb ... i recall the propane-gas powered taxis and wonder if they are still around ... or all the pick ups with a roof over the back end ... those gathering taxis ... wish i could visit THIS thailand again.. i saw footage of pattaya nowadays and this is too mutch now with high rises everywhere ...

Karl, I started my trips to Thailand in 1999. I wish I would’ve come earlier. Moved here in 2005. Just curious if you’ve ever tried to look up any of the girls you were friends with. Do you wonder what happened to them? Any contact? I really enjoy your videos!!!!

I never try to look them up, so long ago now. There is a story I tell in my recent interview with Peter from the Thairish Times KZread channel where I tell a story of meeting one of my old flames years later that might interest you. Cheers
Have u done more countries that time?
