    Dear Friend, Thank you very much for your video. Although I do not speak English I have been very useful in my radio set-up. A pity that he did not watch as he mounted the tuner display of the radio. I imagine that the piece that comes with the assembly kit, similar to a hammer, is to facilitate the installation of the conductive tape that feeds the display .... I said, thank you very much for your teaching and I send a big hug and Greeting from the Canary Islands (Spain).

    I just bought this radio today. I look forward to using your video for reference when I attempt to build mine. I just wanted to mention that there is a US warehouse option that ships in 5 to 7 days for this item. On banggood there isn't always an option for US warehouse but when there is, I make sure to click on that US box : ) Thanks for the Video. There was a small increase in price 9.99 but worth it IMO. Thanks again.

    I think you'll enjoy assembling the kit. It wasn't too difficult, but it was still challenging.

    I did enjoy building it. It took a couple hours to build. I noticed if you tighten some screws too tight the buttons become depressed and the display goes haywire. The other issue I have is not being able to tune into a station that is inbetween the bandwidth of two stronger stations. The radio just can barely pick it up. Is there a way to spread out the band so I can tune into that frequency with the variable resistor with the four screws?

    The biggest problem were the resistors cause I had to recognise them by the colour on your video. It is not specified how much Ohm each resistor can handle.

    Many thanks! I would have never figured out some of the procedures you used to complete this kit. For me it was like a jigsaw puzzle with all the pieces the same color! I still have no idea what the brass rod that screws into the block with the rubber insert is intended for? Now I am anxious to get started building, thanks to your video!! Keep up the great work, you could be the next Mr. Wizard!

    Great video David, I bought one of these after watching your video. Seems pretty straight forward but you didn't tell us how to stick that zebra strip down. I assume you heat that little brass T shaped tool and just use it like a clothes iron to melt some sort of glue on the zebra strip. Now, if that's the case, does that little rubber pad that fits onto the end of the tool stand the heat? Maybe it's a single-use tool or something. Excellent work, keep it up :)

    I think it was supposed to be used for pressing on the adhesive conductive "zebra" strip to the contacts on LCD and the circuit board on which it is mounted. I used it that way, but I thing rubbing the adhesive strip with your fingernail would work as well.

    i believe it is a cheap soldering iron tip for those conductive tapes. and the soft rubbery tip is most likely silicone so it wont melt. you are supposed to apply heat and pressure to those zebra tapes. how is the reception and drift on the radio? does it at least stay on the set frequency for a while? im looking for a simple to use elderly fm radio solution. this one looks nice from afar

    Hi David, thanks for your instructions. I followed them exactly and have the kit assembled. The radio is working but I noticed a glitch on the LCD display. The 1st digit is not showing. When I turned to 104.3, the screen only showed 04.3. Same with the clock. Time 10.20pm showed 0.20. Could it be the strip connecting the LCD to the PCB board? Hope to receive your esteemed advice. Thank you.

    Dear friend, could you explain the process you used to connect the tape to the display and to the printed circuit? ... thank you very much ....

  • @DavidHoshor

    @DavidHoshor

    I just used my fingernail to press the adhesive zebra ribbon to the display. Look at the edge of the LCD display and you'll see that there are conductive areas printed on the LCD glass. They're faint and hard to see, but in good lighting you should be able to see them. (The conductive glass reflects the light differently.) Peel back the adhesive from the ribbon cable, and match the black conductive stripes of the ribbon cable with the conductive pads on the glass. Use your fingernail to adhere them to the LCD display. The other end of the zebra ribbon was easy to connect to the circuit board. Just match the black bars of the cable with the pads on the circuit board. Once again, attach them with pressure from your fingernail. In my kit there were about four or five of those zebra ribbons so if you make a mistake, you can easily try another ribbon. Mine worked on the first try. Good luck!

    I thought it was strange too, but since it was mailed to me in Ecuador, I figured Banggood must know which shipping method and fulfillment center to use for best (or cheapest) service. At least I got the radio in one piece and in reasonably good time.
