Pentatonix is an American a cappella group from Arlington, Texas, consisting of vocalists Scott Hoying (baritone), Mitch Grassi (tenor), Kirstin Maldonado (alto), Kevin Olusola (vocal percussion and vocals), and Matt Sallee (bass). Characterized by their pop-style arrangements with vocal harmonies, basslines, riffing, percussion, and beatboxing, they produce cover versions of modern pop works or Christmas songs, sometimes in the form of medleys, along with original material. Pentatonix formed in 2011 and subsequently won the third season of NBC's The Sing-Off, receiving $200,000 and a recording contract with Sony Music.

As a bass singer yourself, I think you might really appreciate Avi Kaplan’s solo music. ‘Change on the Rise’ is a good start but there are many others that showcase his amazing voice and range. Try ‘Black is the Colour of My True Love’s Hair’ with Peter Hollens. You will be blown even further away!

Thank you for reacting. Love PTX! My suggestions for more reactions are, Mary Did You Know and The Sound Of Silence. Great harmonies and arrangements. Shows ranges of individuals in The Sound Of Silence. There is one that is a must see featuring Kevin Olusola in cover of Down (Marian Hill KOver). Just to see a portion of the talent this guy has. He beatboxes, cello boxes, loops, plays piano, sax (was classically trained in cello and sax and played Carnage Hall with both instruments.) He sings, was in premed at Yale, studied in China and is fluent in Mandarin. Watch his video...it is amazing. Looking forward to more PTX. This video of Down only shows Kevin's talent for cello, singing, some beatboxing, and looping.

This is a masterpiece for sure. Pure Pentatonix Perfection and A Capella at it's best. This was my first PTX music video. I can tell you when and where I was when I first saw it. I had never heard of them and I was just amazed. I had so many thoughts and questions. Who is that first guy with the voice so textured? Who is that second guy with the voice so warm? Listen to that lady so clear and sharp. Who is that guy in the hat? Listen to that voice and look at the expression on his face. What is that guy doing beating his chest and stomping? Listen to the harmonies. The humming. The call and response. The crescendo. Well......down the rabbit hole I went, and without a moment of regret. PTX has been entertaining and educational in so many ways. More PTX reactions please - only about 200 to do - originals and covers - studio recordings and live versions.

You don't even know the Name of the Songwriter, the Great Leonard Cohen . He was sitting in the Audience when kd lang sang It at the Canadian Music Hall of Fame back in 2006. He gave her a Standing Ovation and later stated that she now OWNED the Song, because she is the ONLY One to Sing It like It should be Sung. He also asked the Canadian Olympic Committee to have her sing It at the Vancouver Olympics in 2010 instead of Him. These guys sing It like a Church Hymn, which Cohen never intended It to be portrayed . Listen to kd's version to understand why Cohen gave her that Standing Ovation in 2006 and Ownership of the Song.

A while back I mentioned to my daughter that I loved the song 'Mary Did You Know,' by Kenny Rogers and Winona Judd. She said that, while she liked their version, she liked Pentatonix better. I love both versions, but that was my introduction to Pentatonix. I have never heard a song of theirs that I did not love. Please listen to Mary Did You Know. You may want to do it by yourself; for me it was a spiritual experience and it still is. Or, maybe you want to analyze it to publicly, totally up to you. I just found your channel, and I really enjoy it

GREAT job...this is the first reaction of Pentatonix that I've seen from you, but you seemed to know who they are...have you done other reactions ?? I also noticed that you have a few guitars in the background...I would love to have you react to the planet's greatest guitarist...MARCIN, a 20-year old from Poland. He has a number of great videos, but I would suggest you start with "Still D.R.E." only because it shows off his crazy skills. Others: Kashmir (Led Zeppelin); "Master of Puppets"; "Fly Me to the Moon"; et. al. Also, another singer, who just may be the best on the planet is Haley Reinhart, covering "Creep" on PostModern Jukebox.

Hey Nick I've only done 2 Pentatonix so far. I'm going to do another one in a couple of weeks because the subs voted for it in the community feed. I do have some basses in the background along with my saxes and my digital piano. You can't see it but I also have my son's drumset and a nice practice marimba on the other side of the room. Those suggestions sound pretty cool, I will add them to the list. Thanks for the kind words and for watching and commenting!

Just before he died Leonard Cohen heard this cover and gave it high praise when said that this was the best version of the song he had ever heard, including his own.

Hey Bob really enjoying your reaction/analysis videos, especially your Dirty Loops offerings and would like to suggest a new group/genre to react to. I have become a big fan of Nightwish and would like to request their live track Ghost Love Score from Wacken 2013, satisfaction guaranteed! Cheers
