And thank god they arnt the average rock star type. They are very similar in that way as Nemophila. Both bands are the same way with each other. No big attitude, no egos they both work extremely hard both bands put out a lot of great music. And they both love being onstage and performing with each other. These two bands are why I came back to listen to new music.

Not for sure about Japan but that's probably legal by now in most states in the USA. Has anybody seen that video that's supposed to be Saiki, wearing a covid mask and nothing else. Those eyes do look a lot like hers. Did she make that video for Kanami? I figured for some guy and then they broke up and he released it for revenge but probably not even her but that"s what it says on the porn site I saw it on.

@@ronnieguitar99 this photo and video is a fake, Saiki has a tattoo on her left arm wich says Love is strong. In the video and the picture there is no tattoo, it's clearly not her on it, and just if you really pay attention to details the body is different from Saiki. I'm glad that these girls keep their private life PRIVATE. There is no drama about them, no some nasty stuff, nothing but just good music. That's one of the main reasons that make me love this band so much

I can understand Kanami's ambitions. The first one.... Saiki is so adorable🤯❤️❤️

A home studio.... the money pit that seemed to bankrupt every musician in the 1970s. Of course, a rehearsal space with some recording equipment probably wouldn't be too bad, but a full studio? Marrying Saiki is probably more likely. I actually like how Saiki isn't remotely fazed by it at all.

In times when KZreadrs have their own studio to record let's plays, it should be possible to build a little studio at home for the early versions and then go for the final recording in high quality to a bigger one.

i think what she might mean is this: recording the parts one at a time to a recording or a click track can work alot of the time, sometimes it seems to work better for some songs if the whole band does it, and they just rip it right off of the floor. then they can go back in later and dub in the back ups, harmonies & solos, etc. that is my guess, anyhow

They need to let her drink beer on set to get her to loosen up enough to start talking on camera. That's what a radio deejay did during an half hour long FM radio interview with MISA in the past and that got her talking a lot on air then.

@@johnlloyddy7016 Chris Peppler is the radio DJ in question. He was SO GOOD at getting Misa to actually speak. Granted, it helped that the show was sponsored by Sapporo Beer and I'm pretty sure she said she'd already had a few before going on air.

When the band started, the management company asked each members if they wanted to try writing some song lyrics. Saiki couldn't do it. Akane and Misa opted out. Miku was actually good. Then, Kanami came with a song that started with "So, my dog died today..." Yeah, so they all said, no lyrics for your Kanami. Miku got the lyrics job. And yes, Kanami is in her own world at times. But then, give her a guitar and she changes.

@@fastskipper777 I did not know that story about the lyric writing, but i had guessed it played out someway similar. Misa and Akane have seemed content to specialise, which I'm more than happy about, but there was some talk about Misa writing some stuff. Saiki is an interesting one in this. When she is singing she is highly emotive, an excellent performer. Then she stops and seems highly unaffected for long periods. I have no idea how she is like the latter then can be the former. Kanami has a huge intellectual capacity, from what i have read, but socially is not in the same part of the building it seems. I'm guessing she is somewhere on the autistic spectrum but I'm not an expert. As long as she keeps making music I'll be listening. Miku from what I've seen is Miku Kabato 24/7. Expressive, centre of attention and ambitious. It would honestly surprise me if she wasn't in someway involved in writing the lyrics. Whether Miku is entirely a performance by Noguchi Mika and she just has the supreme stamina to keep it going or she always was this personality I am unsure. But we all love her dearly. (I admit it, i got a bit carried away with that response, I started and couldn't stop)

@@kalebdaark100 It's true. They all talked about it in an interview about the lyric writing history. Also, Misa and Akane recently said they want to try writing songs in near future, not so much lyrics per se. Saiki actually can be moved. The song that comes right after this "Puzzle" is the song "Anemone"; they did two acoustic songs on this day. So, around the 2/3 time of the song there is a moment (literally a split second) where Saiki is almost overcome with emotion and her eyes got teary and had to look up (you have to really watch for it); the song is another brilliant composition by Kanami with lyrics by Miku. The original song, I have the album, is more slow paced rock ballad with an amazing guitar solo, but on this day (2018 @Zepp Tokyo concert), it was an acoustic with just a guitar. It was a brilliant performance. And when the song ended, Saiki had to walk off a bit quickly. Yeah, I think she was thinking of some memories. Although, Saiki does not play any instruments, I consider her a stellar musician (her voice) and is an outstanding front woman and vocalist. Plus, she is kind of the final arbiter of each song they complete (whether is cool/great song or not). Plus, Saiki has to keep that tsundere persona of her (cold/hot). Even though she has that ice queen thing going, she does care for her band members.

@@fastskipper777 Yes, I've seen that set of acoustic songs. Beautiful. I would never say Saiki can't show emotion or that she does feel or care, she clearly does. I just find it interesting that her "resting" face is kind of blank and in her performance she completely lives the part. It's quite the contrast. I appreciate a good contrast.

If this is you, I have to say I stand corrected regarding some of my earlier responses to your badinage… I’m in Canada right now and have been pre-occupied with our Trucker protest, but can always find time to add my tuppenceworth to posts about my favourite band…!

Didn't realize that , Kanami having her own studio would have so many comments. I guess I'm a bit jaded, I live in LA and you wouldn't believ the number of homes with studios. It seems anyone in the music business has a home studio. The low end are garage conversions, high end are custom built in-house or detached building on the property. I realize Japan doesn't have the size of home lots that LA has, it just didn't seem to me a home studio is that hard to have.

It’s almost impossible to have one in Japan, in Tokyo doubly so... without having a much-larger-than-average home. Quite sure all 5 members, like many ordinary working adults in Tokyo, are living in tiny rented single-room apartments.

@@weilima9316 All I know is they all live separately and collaborate on the song by internet prior to going into the studio. On an interview show in 2019 Akane talked about moving into her 1st apartment and buy furniture at Ikea. Did learn that Siaki, Miku and Kanamia re good cooks. With the income from KZread, Spotify and iTune, I'm would think they have at least 1 bedroom apartments.

@@outwest1014 There seems to be quite some discussion about whether they actually need to pay full price for the guitars or even receive some free or as a loan. I personally have no idea. But even then... they still wouldn’t be able to afford buying a 1-room apartment in Tokyo even if they sold off 50 guitars at $1000 each. Maybe even 100. I’m not actually trying to argue. Just saying that Band-Maid are a far cry from a financially rich and successful band. A fantastic band... no doubt there.

Let’s start a crowdfunding to make sweet Kanami’s dream come true. How bout it?

Sometimes I wonder how much of this is setup for promotion purposes. There is a short video like this where Misa said her favorite part of visiting San Francisco was seeing Alcatraz. They seemed surprised by that an then moved on. It may all be part of their "bit." It keeps us watching. Genius or nuts, hard to say.

Maybe, but certainly there's a part of it that is probably relatively uncoordinated. There is an Instagram live that was on Miku's account that showed Kanami doing a lot of production work, which tells me that a home studio would actually be a great idea for them.

Agreed, I'm sure that was a legit desire. It is the weird thing Kanami does with Saiki, which goes back a long time in their interviews and stage show. Maybe this is something about Japanese culture I am not hip to. It seems like a little comedy thing before the real thing. It is very hard for me to figure out what is "real" about their interactions in front of an audience. It is possible I don't understand "charm points" as it applies to Japanese entertainers. Like, local audiences know it is a gag, and I don't. Regardless, their music is awesome. I would never take that away from them.

@@jeffclark1164 Maybe there are aspects of Japanese culture l am not aware of. Thanks for that. They cannot be judged by westerner standards. Especially with love and sex. An example: you still hear about Band-Maiko being an April fool's day joke. (It's not. It's a side project.) However, April Fool's is not a thing in Japan. Or using the word "fuck" in a song. That word has all the impact for them that a Japanese curse you learned phonetically would have for you. Those "personalities" you see accurately reflect each member's core personality. Just amplified when they are "on". And for Band-Maid being "on" has been a 24/7 type job for awhile now. These ladies are often brutally frank with each other and that is a testament to their deep friendship. Regards.

@@sacluvsBM I think I read somewhere That Band Maiko indeed was planned as an April Fool's joke and they where surprised how much the people like it so they made something serious out of it. I mean maybe this was just an interviewer who got something wrong or they just said it like this, but they needed a whole year of a disturbed waiting me, to sell this song officially just like it wasn't planned. So there is that.
