Well done Documentary Wave, you know Band Maid brings me tears and makes me smile so much. Such a Phenomenal Band. I've never heard such a Band with so much Influential Talent. Not since My introduction to Pink Floyd have I been Taken Back and this Amazed by a Band of Phenomenally Talented Musicians. Yes I'm a 62 year old Maidiac🤗 Can't wait for more of your Band Maid Documentary

Thank you for the research you've shared with us! ... FYI: Kanami is said to have idolized guitarist Carlos Santana; and, in the video "Kanami Goes Wild", there is a moment in the solo she does that actually sounds "Santana-ish"

Maid culture is a thing in Japan. It's a branch of cosplay. Japan is the home of cosplay. Maids have been a part of pop culture there for a couple of decades.

Sure. Then a group of girls come out that happen to be extremely talented and make it work. KISS did the same thing and there's angus with the school uniform. Most of the time it looks ridiculous and stupid, but there are rare times where it actually works perfectly. They happen to be one of those I belive, I dunno change my mind.

Great observation that Kanami and Akane helped assemble the band and not just Miku! Especially the parallel with how all five take the initiative to contribute (and the others welcome it).

One out of every four Japanese children at an early age begins either swimming or piano lessons. So many Japanese female band members have piano experience. Many women also played brass band as a club activity in junior high and high school.

Excellent vid. I do have to agree with you, on the point that 1:18. I've played guitar and bass on and off for about 20 and 7 years respectively. I like to play but don't get inspired. Something about Band-Maid gives me inspiration to pick up and play. I dunno if it's the energy, the music or what, but those girls have the effect of making me want to play more often and get better.

So good to see this again, even if it is slightly revised. I agree with your insights about what makes them special. Also, for me, it's the sheer amount of high quality songs that they have released. All of my favorite bands from throughout my life have at least a few songs that I don't care for, but that's not the case with Band-Maid. Throw in the fact that they are a killer live act, and very entertaining, and you have pretty much the perfect rock band. So glad we are getting the chance to see them in their element. Thanks Wave.

Miku Kobato also has been in an underground idol group named Lil Cumin for a moment. That's the reason why you can see the IDOL ELEMENTS in their shows. Some of the video can be found on KZread til these days.

If you have not seen this already, watch this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/haCozMOofqXSkrw.html Here, Kobato and the maids talk about how the band was formed. It is in Japanese, but there are English subtitles that run across the top of the video. So you should be able to follow the conversation pretty well. Here are some takeaways: - Kanami said that Kobata was a strange girl. - Misa's drink of choice during live performances (called 'okyuji') is straight whiskey. -- But sometimes, it is beer (i.e. Misa likes to drink). - Saiki was sort of 'duped' into joining the band in the sense that she was not told that there would be a pigeon (Miku Kobato)--'kobato' in Japanese literally means 'little pigeon'--and maid outfits. -- But when Saiki found out the truth, it was too late for her to back out of joining the band.

Not that it matters but i have heard a couple of versions of how they came to be. Miku was idol to begin with was in a contest to i think, that didn't pan out so her company asked her what she wanted to do. The way they connected is pretty much the same. The end of the day it doesn't matter how they came together but that the right people came together.

Yes, Miku was in an idol band called Lil Cumin, she was named Mika Naguchi at that time (at the At Home Maid Cafe she called Himawari - 'Sunflower'). Lil Cumin released three singles.

Nicely done sir. The only thing I would add is that Misa started on the guitar and was in a band where she played guitar and sang. She picked up the bass later when she joined another band that had a lead guitar but needed a bass.
