+Dragon Onwall probably som sort of deal with india i guess. you can see that the truck and bamse system are like two segments. and im pretty sure you fairly easily can modify other equally heavy platforms to carry bamse.

Sadly we Swedes dont even get BAMSE in our arsenal ... instead we're getting the Patriot system cause we like throwing out money on almost obsolete missile defences.

Rob Allison This situation have arrived because we decided to build JAS-39 in the swedish defensive calculation the plane would serve as the biggest anti-air deterrent. Missile systems where thus not prioritized. Gripen with it's Meteor missile is the scariest part og Swedens airdefence. BAMSE and RBS70 have their part to play but Sweden lacks medium and long distance SAM's There are Two options USA's Patriot and the French/Italian Aster 30 Since we needed the systems +10 years ago and since the complexity of developing these systems on our own is not cost effective. Thus we have no choice, if Sweden-ball wants to believe it can protect his airspace one of these must be bought otherwise Sweden should probably outsource its military to Carlsberg, they would Probably make it the best military in the world Probably. Edit: Military systems gets upgraded, sometimes beyond recognize. #this is not even my final form.

@@Sonko142 long range missiles are a waste of money, cruise missiles are the new thing, and they come ind stealth :) medium range missiles would be sufficient, then no plan will come near ;) short range missiles are for cruise missiles, like the Russian pantsir, they have to be cheap to be effektiv, because many radar and SAMS will be used to cover a large area. medium Long range missiles have a bad hit chance, and are for high flying object.

Ashok motors founded in 1954 of Hinduja group bought leyland way back in 1975...it's Ashok lyland now.

What would be the point? Why not make it a MBT while at it? and add room for infantry. and then maybe add wings so it can fly too. attach a guard dog and capability to build a pontoon bridge so it could cross rivers. And make it fast enough so it could supply itself.

MrGiovanni22 ashok Leyland has vast experience of tough roads in India. They have built various trucks suitable for different kinds of tough Indian terrains. Where as volvo and scania trucks are luxurious and can run smoothly on city roads not on tough roads like indian

GDP isnt everything man Compare per capita income to Scandinavian countries and lifestyle, infrastructure you will see the true picture. India got big GDP because its large population and huge number of migrants living abroad no offenses to india but you shouldn't compare india to Scandinavian countries you will end up shaming your country.

"Bamse" sounds like something you'd do in a dutch red light district.

The only question I think is what this system costs? It is worth shooting down cruise missiles with the Saab missiles ? And is it possible to buy decoy radars against ARM & stealth missiles ? All that for the purpose of giving the enemy no purpose to attack with air and long range weapons.

The system is place on a truck from AL so it would fit India's requirements. Other countries are free to chose something else, like we Swedes have.

AL was chosen to showcase it to the Indian competition. We Swedes have it mounted on another truck, and every buyer can choose theirs, or even as a towed version.

The guy that wrote Bamse was probably so sad the named it after his creation.
