BAMBOO NOODLES | Hong Kee Wan Thun Mee (Replace by Tok Tok Mee Bamboo Noodle) Campbell Street,Penang
The egg noodles here are made with this 200-year-old technique of using a large bamboo pole to knead the dough. As a result, you get the springiest noodles ever! This method is practiced in Southern China and Hong Kong since the 19th century (the 1800's). But in favour of modern technology and machines, there's only a handful of restaurants that stick to this tradition. Witnessing the noodle-making process is literally a step back in time. The best part is the noodles taste equally as special. If you're interested in catching a glimpse of the noodle production, come in the morning around 10am during the weekends.

The char siu looks so good! Mouth watering
Hahaha ambra does sound like umbrella. Very refreshing and perfect pair for the wantan mee 👍
The BBQ pork and noodles looked so yummy. It seems so affordable at $1.54 USD.. Here in LA that bowl would be at least $12 USD minimum. The green pickled chilis looked interesting to try as well. You can't go wrong with a couple pork buns to end an afternoon of eating. Great video and love you guys to the moon!! :) 💖😘🌛
The pickled green chili is a must!
Excellent place! Another spot that we will have to visit 🥰
It looks phenomenal! Now I have to make noodles for dinner. Lieles won't let me skip noodles after this video, even though he knows, mine won't taste as the ones on this video
Umbra!! Oh man we could go for a few glasses of that right now
So many good things about their wantan mee. Of course the great noodles, but also the caramelized char siew, pork lard + the wantan coming with the noodles instead of in soup on the side
Love how you color graded the intro!
the noodles combined with the dumplings and the meat look absolutely mouthwatering!!! 🤤

Oooo it's really satisfying seeing the process from start to finish and seeing the freshly made noodles all stacked up and ready to be cooked!
I remember watching Food and Footprints highlight this! Add some chili and pepper too, give it some kick 😋❤
This is so cool 😁🤙 seen this at quite a few places while we were in China but it's more for show rather than for consumption these days. This looks like a really incredible spot though. We'll definitely have to note it down for when we visit. Get the BBQ pork bun on the side too 😋
Thanks for recommending Hong Kee to us! This place is a gem 😁
Even the bbq pork pastry look so good too! Definitely will try this place 😍
The pastry makes a perfect dessert! 😋❤ Will check them out on the weekends if we go!
They take their noodles very seriously here! Anything to get the perfect noodles!
Intressting to see how they make noodle. Watching from Germany
That is pretty amazing how they still make homemade noodles with that giant weight of a bamboo pole. I love how you describe the noodles as very snappy that dish looks super delicious
Hey Puri and Sue! We have never heard of bamboo noodles before, but it was so cool to see the process of how they are made. That guy must be so fit doing all that bouncing on the bamboo stick. Seems like there is lots of work and time that goes into making the noodles springy.
That process is amazing. Soooo good to see all the work they put, we would pay just to see how they make it! You guys are lucky to live there!! We want to go to Malaysia !
Wah.. I’d like to have a go on that pogo stick 😂
Dead serious and say I wish I was quarantined in malaysia during pandemic..food so expensive here where I live..if I had a chance to stay for months at a time..malaysia the spot to be for great food for a great price
if you are there than you need to try anything, from main dish, drink and dessert lol
It's really look like exercise with that bouncing bamboo 😆 hope the guys take turn doing it haha
“Eat me” 😂😂
What Sue??? Hahaha whatever you say, we agree! That's a lot... So??? 😂😂😂
Hahaha the more chilli the better I say but Wera would strong disagree!

This isn't just for show hahahah
