Your legacy will be remembered forever! This video made me cry. I honestly wish I could meet Balto so badly! I'm going to go to NYC someday just to find the memorial of him!

Learning the story of Balto convinced me to own a dog and name it in honor of his memory. He was naturally the "underdog" according to many famous mushers who credited Togo as the true hero. Yet Balto as modest as he was deserves a place in history. He had a great courage, endurance, intelligence and above all, an indomitable spirit. I salute you BALTO!!!

How's about giving credit, to where credit is due, to, "BOTH", dogs? Instead of making it a competition. BECAUSE, it WASN'T. IF ToGo didn't make the run that he did, Balto, wouldn't have been able to complete the mission mushers set out to accomplish. And that was: "Get the serum to Nome, by hook or by crook. By ANY, means, neccesary".

I'm kinda glad that they have him in a museum I'd love to see it and if he was a sled dog from Alaska why is there a statue of him in New York? Just wondering....

T diksangzela All of them are heroes. The main point is not which ran longer or shorter, but the fact the mission was completed. Besides, Balto's statue is dedicated to all the dogs.

Why does everyone make a big deal out of Balto? I mean, I love him and all, but hundreds of dogs worked together to bring that medicine to the people of that town. Any dog sled team could have been lost in a blizzard, and they exaggerate about his life in the movies. He didn't fight another dog gone crazy. And the rider only blacked out because he was cold. They didn't fall down cliffs, or run from avalanches. OK, now that my rant is over, I still love Balto.
