Baltimore's Street Corner Astronomer

On most evenings with clear skies, Herman Heyn packs his 8" Schmidt-Cassegrain-type telescope into his car and heads for the streets of Fell's Point in Baltimore, MD. His interest is to share his love of viewing celestial objects with any and all who want to see them. HAV-A-LOOK!

After more 31 years and 2,858 viewing sessions, Herman Heyn finally retired from sidewalk astronomy in 2018 at age 87. According to the Baltimore Sun (2/21/21) he died "of stroke and other causes" in February 2021 at age 90. A life well lived indeed.
