    I'm a white guy, I grew up in Essex, just north of Baltimore. When out of town family (Ohio)would visit, they always wanted to go downtown, and as kid I remember the Block (which was mainly burlesque) being lit up so bright, we'd go by the clubs on North Ave, and down to the piers watching guys unload small boats full of bananas and watermelon and whatnot. Then up Eastern Ave. going home. I have a very rose colored view of that time, as a white kid in a white neighborhood, and after the riots we never went back downtown.

    The guy at the 11 minute mark proves my point. I made my first comment before I even saw this part. It was a military psy-op. Interesting, he doesn't "think" it's going to get any worse. He should know. He's in charge of the psy-op.

    I was only 11 years old, but I still couldn't understand why the people looted, burned down and tore up their own neighborhoods... I can remember wondering why didn't they go out where the rich people lived and loot. I guess that's how a child's mind works.😢

    I never understood how anyone could “tear up and burn down their own neighborhoods” when said demographic rarely ever owns even the smallest row house in said neighborhoods.

    I remember this time vaguely, I was eight. My family was pretty upset, not the least because they couldn't buy beer lol. But it was upsetting that people in our own community had that much anger. It was years before I understood why. Edited to say I donated. You do important stuff here man. All this should be preserved. Thank you.

    I lived around the corner of Whitelock St.,the commercial center south of Druid Hill Park. It was burned and looted. No more grocery stores, laundry, drug store, restaurants or other places of business. Curfew, Army troops and rumors of criminal snipers.

    And the fact that the African Americans living in the community did the same thing to exploit a doggone snowstorm (in ‘79) gives the lie to the idea that the African American community is violently looting for lofty moral principles.

    @@REDMAPLETV23 well, it was smart getting away from those who s#it in their own backyards and shoot up their own people and I see, from the most recent round of riots in the city with the burning down of senior centers and pharmacies, etc by same said people…..that MANY people have followed suit and fled the city…….have you seen it lately?? Every block boarded up and junkies walking around and gangsta’s everywhere….. IF you call that being bullied off the land…… Let me be the first to say I thoroughly enjoyed my upbringing in the country away from all of this….and so have my kids and grandkids. These city dwellers who made Baltimore unsafe, unsavory, and unappealing-have only hurt themselves and their own poverty-stricken loved ones who are stuck there …DEPENDENT on the commie Democrap party for s#itty handouts to survive, if you can call it that.

  • @niggaramos

    @niggaramos

    Жыл бұрын

    Definitely 1968. Most businesses were looted and burned. Blacks hurt themselves for a lot of the stores in the neighborhood did not reopen. Before the riot of 1968 you could actually walk to stores to purchase almost anything you needed. Innocent people were abused and injured. The National Guard was called in to maintain order. Teargas was dispersed on the rioters which affected anybody in that particular area. It changed the way Baltimore operated and it has not been the same since those riots.
