Balochistan Travel on Jaffar Exp Part-3 | Sibi to Quetta | Journey of Bolan Pass |Pakistan Railways

part-1 • Jaffar Express Train T...
part-2 • Jaffar Express train t...
I started my journey on 40DN Jaffar Express from Rawalpindi to Quetta and you have already watched its part-1 and part-2,
in recent part-2 we have reached at Sibi junction Railway Station....now let's start our journey from sibi to Quetta on ML3 Railway line through Bolan pass of Balochistan province,
sibi is hot place and its maximum temperature would be around 50 degrees centigrade during the summer's, during my travel on 4th of April 2021 the temperature wasn't so high by 1300 hours, there was lot of happening at sibi Railway station 5 of coaches were going to detach from the train and our locomotive GEU20 was also going to detach here, new locomotive RGE20 was waiting to attach the train and it was going to haul the train through Bolan pass till Quetta Railway Station,
train was getting ready and I had to take lunch while filming....so I did and board the train,
we moved after 30 minutes of stoppage, train was going to enter in Bolan pass and the climate was also going to change,
we passed several tunnels throughout the travel and it was almost 16 tunnels and among them mary jane, summit, and cascade tunnels were very famous,
2 banker locomotives were waiting to attach at Aab e Gum Railway Station, from aab e Gum the railway track was very up gradient ( almost 39 grade) and dual line was also there, our train was going to haul by 3 RGE20 locomotives by push and pull technique,
Bolan pass height is almost 1800 meters from sea level and it was very noisy and windy there specially the sound of 2 bankar engines was very nostalgic, weather was changed and I was about to wear my light jacket....
there were few catch sidings for the safety of the trains too... our train entered at Mach Railway station and passed it without stopping....yes....because before entering Mach Railway Station the track is up gradient and train enter there by full power and then there is a right turn and then the yard of the station and then again there is down gradient tracks,
so its not possible to stop the train having full throttle on up gradient... train brakes applied during passing the Mach Railway Station and it stopped after passing the Station,
so we moved back to platform for a 10 minute stop,
after Mach station we went more UP and there was a highest Railway Station Coalpur arrived, tere are lot of coal mines in the mountains,
after 5 hours journey we reached Quetta Railway Station by 6:30pm and train was late by 3 Hours,
it was a wonderful train travel and I will love to do it again.

First time I am seeing the train traversing Bolan pass. Splendid shots of the rugged terrain. The film is much better than Mark Tully's show on Pakistan Railways where he travelled to quetta by quetta Express. The tracks needs to be strengthened to take load of 17-18 coaches. With 4500 HP GM locos available, it can be done with some effort. Hats off to you sir for the wonderful film!

It was time when Sibi traffic yard was full of activities. Full load trains were marshalled to proceed to Punjab and Sindh. Four up and four down passenger trains passed through it and now the entire station premises wears deserted look. Coal loading was made at Abi gum, Mach and Spezand stations. I was more emotional as I lived at Mach in mid fifties and attended school there. As later we lived at Quetta and used to travel by train it looks very disappointing in these days.
