Apparently the stage lights are so bright it washes out even hella dark people. Because my mother saw one of my performances and she said, “TBH I had no idea who you were on stage. You all looked white to me” 💀 Had me dead the whole rest of the ride. FYI most of the dancers in my area are black so that’s why she said that

I instantly wanted to give Megan a hug because her problem seemed the most serious beyond the girl with constant injuries. Can you imagine being the person that is known for being constantly yelled at? That poor girl. She must feel so helpless at times. Heres a tip for Megan: If you ever are getting yelled at and don't want to cry remember this. According to anatomy, a human's butthole extracts and infracts while yelling. The louder they yell, the more the hole goes, Open Shut Open Shut. So just remember the butthole and you'll instantly start laughing or forget about what they are saying.

And when I do pointe I have to be extra careful abt my feet cuz they will go very over the box at times 😢 and wearing normal shoes have to be very specific cuz my arch is that high it will push the shoe and it hurts

@@CC_Ballet see this is why I don’t think I’ll go on pointe. I don’t like the idea of an ankle wobble. A podiatrist did say it would be a bad idea for me personally. Then again, I’ve never tried so maybe with enough prep and strength I would have nothing to worry about. As for going over your box to far, I thought there are pointe shoes that pull your foot back a bit.

@@emily_232 my shoes r good 4 me now but like other shoes don’t give any support at all to me (my feet can touch the ground while sitting and pointing) but my feet r very strong but then I also need to use elastics cuz my feet 💀 also my feet kill my shoes so quick 😢 I wasted so much money 💴

they're like a sock, you put them on under tights and they make you look like you have high(er) arches (edit: insteps. They're different I think). beware though, i think they're quite a bit frowned upon, and when you're on flat or maybe not in a pointe shoe, they're noticeable.

Right??? I still remember my dad matter of factly informing me that I will never do ballet- because of my being hopelessly flat-footed. Son of a bitch... oh well, 40 years have passed and it turned out im also hopelessly lazy, so I guess he knew what he was doing.

As someone who went to a dance conservatoire, most kids went to an evening school while having ballet in the morning. I for example, was a bit older and went to uni while I was dancing at the same time, so I was that girl studying in between classes

Band-Aids can really take a lot out of your budget when you need a lot of them. Way back when (I am ancient and decrepit, but still have a pretty good memory- even if it's been 30 years since I was worried about blisters and pointe shoes), I only used actual band-aids when I already had a blister. If the skin was still ok, just the threat of an impending blister- I would instead, wrap my toe with masking tape. It's really important to make sure it's masking tape (kind of like paper tape, but sturdier), rather than scotch tape or duct tape (although, in a pinch- I have been known to use scotch tape with a tiny pad or kleenex over the blister/wound) because it breathes a lot better and there is less chance of it contributing to any kind of fungal growth. Also, the excess sweat would make your pointe shoe box break down a lot faster. If I knew I had a long day ahead of me- technique class, point class, variations, partnering, rehearsals, etc. (basically anything but modern- because I obviously didn't have to worry about pointe shoe friction for modern dance class :) ), I would go ahead and individually wrap each toe with masking tape. When I started doing this, it actually cut down my blisters by at least 50%. This made my toes and bank account both a lot happier.
