It is such a pleasure to encounter one of the great Baldwin Artist Series grand pianos in phenomenal condition! More than that, this piano exhibits such power and sustain in the tone all the way up to the top octave which is the sign of an extraordinary piano.
Aside from cleanup, regulation, voicing, tuning, string termination, and pedal adjustments, the only parts that needed replacing were the original composite keytops which had yellowed. The piano has an action in great shape with minimal wear. It is also rare to find a high-gloss finish in Baldwin pianos from this era.
This was a time when Baldwin was the #1 piano maker in America, and had an artist roster that rivaled Steinway & Sons. Baldwin is known for their strong bass, and this piano delivers! An all around top performer, this is why so many people chose Baldwin as their piano not so long ago when this venerable American company was producing such high quality instruments.

Nice piano. I recently purchased my first grand (a new Yamaha GB1K) and love it. I have a question about your production. How do you get the overhead and side views to pan around during the performance video? Is this added in post editing or do you have some sort of camera mount to hat moves around while recording? Thanks for keeping up the great videos.

Are all Baldwin model L's considered artist series, or is that a higher quality version?
Great playing, both pianos sound very nice. My piano preference is surprisingly the Baldwin. The bass strings on the Baldwin sound deeper than on the Steinway. What is the length of the Steinway ?

Bass is very strong for its size. American-made Baldwin made some great pianos.

I'd love to know a ballpark on that too. I have a 1941 Baldwin L restored a few years ago with new strings a new soundboard and a new pin block and it is splendid and I love it. One of the last ones they made before the Cincinnati factory converted to making war planes. I'd like to think in my demise that if my family didn't want to keep it that they would get good value for it, But sadly, these days fine pianos are going to the trash heap

I usually enjoy your video and this is definitely a nice piano, especially for the pricetag, but I don't think I would have kept the scherzo, it was a bit... unrefined.
