Aerie's voice was so damn beautiful, and her romance song was also the same. That's why I always chose Aerie as my romance when I played the game long time ago.

I always remember people complaining that Aerie was ‘whiny’ which was a description I detested. She was depressed and struggling to find a reason to exist in the world. I love that helping her through that wasn’t the work of a moment because that is true to life. Her romance was one of the best because of what you help her through and after that she is an absolute ray of sunshine. And her friendship with Imoen was adorable too.

I honestly never understood the whole whiny thing. I mean wouldnt you be complaining if you had your wings chopped off and you were locked in a cage for most of your life? Aerie probably has the best character arc in the series imo.

LoL, I think half the reason I love Tali so much is that she reminds me of Aerie. They don't make characters like Aerie anymore...she had an actual story arc where she starts out sad and depressed, and by the end of the game she discovers life is worth living. Then in ToB she gains actual confidence in herself and her abilities. Plus, gameplay wise, by ToB she's probably one of the most powerful NPCs in the game. High level cleric AND mage spells for the win!

Amazing Aerie.

I absolutely adore this music and, in general, the entire Aerie romance plot. The initial story is great, you have nice plot twists and altogether I cannot imagine romancing anyone else in this game. I’ve finished BG1&BG2 countless times and, among many beautiful and heartfelt moments in those games, this is something I always enjoy getting back to!

Beautiful song. When I first heard this song, I thought it was a Final Fantasy song at first... only to realize it's from Baldur's Gate 2.

Although The Avariel has devoted her life to honoring both The Winged Mother and The Masked Leaf, one need only gaze upon her wide-eyed countenance to know that she was blessed by Lady Goldheart.

I love how borislav and all bg3 team take notes about this amazing game im really thankful about this series. It kinda heals me in soulful way

Aerie, my beloved...

Oh Aerie, i miss you😢

Been thinking about this tune again in relation to this woman I've been getting to know. She's been to hell and back, more or less. She was diagnosed with breast cancer early last year. Had to get a double mastectomy as well as chemo and radiation treatments. Lost her hair for a time on top of having no breasts any more. The latter issue was not a problem for her because she wears full plate armor to perform in jousts at rennaisance faires. However, she suffered cardiac arrest later last year and spent months in a coma. When She awoke, she was left with brain damage that affected her ability to walk and talk. She's undergoing therapy to recover her speech and walking. I care a lot about here, where as people judge her for her issues. I still say she's beautiful, even without a lot of hair, or breasts, or her impediments. :)

I liked the Aerie romance story because she was a broken bird...literally, that needed to be saved. She had suffered abuse for God knows how long, and even lost her wings while in a cage. In the beginning, when she meets the Hero, she is was sad, depressed little thing, unsure of herself, thinking she is ugly, useless, weak, that her scars make her horrible, despite being absolutely beautiful. Slowly, she begins to be comforted and soothed by the Hero...that always believes in her, believes she is useful,sees the beauty in her... the strength, until they fall in love and through him she finds self-love, and confidence in herself, all thanks to this great man. Not to mention by that point her abilites are sick...(she is perhaps the most powerful member in the party). I always thought this was the best kind of romance, and was hoping to find something similar in my life. But what makes for a great story in a book or game, isn't quite the best in real life. The real broken birds, at least the ones I've found, that have suffered the kind of abuse our delicate winged elf suffered, are broken beyond repair. Best to leave them be and stay far away. No Hero of Baldur's Gate can save them. At least, not this one.

The "hero" is only as great as the challenge, though. But I know what you mean and I can relate. I think Viconia might be a case of broken beyond repair. Jaheira has been through some stuff too, though, but I guess not as much, and she's a tough one.

well yeah. actually she gets broken once you find something to boost her bad constitution. Ceric/mage is probably the most devastating close combat machine there is .even with bad strength. ( strength ,mage level two draw upon holy might, cleric level two for low levels or rightous magic and raw upon holy might ,and you hit like you were wielding crom fayer) post underdark Aerie can go one o one against firkaag. And with the broken birds, it will not always endf this cutely. i learned if you manage to mend their wings they will fly away. but mending those wings is a task on it´s own. not a task you should avoid, but a hard task, a task that will amke you suffer, but yo ucan grow on tasks like this. I probably had one moment in my life that felt like a "level up" it´s the best way to describe it, not a bg level up but a diablo one. you get stronger, your back to full energy, that was what that day christmas eve 2014 felt like for me. Shortly before the girl i cared for was broken as you placed it. She thought about suicide (she did that for longer but the time before it was the real deal. i even knew the day she would decide, not because she told me she´d do it that day ,but because i knew why she was this devastated and depressive. but even after that day passed and she lived, hurt herself severely but lived, if it went in the right direction only barely noticeable.) but at christmas eve she "i´m better" that was the whole whatsapp. i cried and laughed at the same time for ten minutes straight. i didn´t ask how she felt she just wrote it, from herself. i don´t remember any christmas gift that year, but that´s a christmas i won´t forget. and now she´s alive and kicking studying psychology to help other people. though sadly romantic interest was only one sided. So caring for these birds with broken wings is a test of strength, but it also is an opportunity to grow, to get stronger and wiser.

Metalhammer1993 Awesome story bro, thanks for sharing. I think it is our duty as humans to alleviate at least a little bit of the suffering in this world. Women are far more suceptible to anxiety and depression than men, a fact that saddens me deeply. I too have repaired more than one broken bird in my life...even kept one from suicide. Like you say, its not a task for the faint of heart, but it is a good form of developing inner strength. Im glad to say that with the development of my wisdom over the years...ive saved at least one from herself, and we are friends to this day. Aerie is still my favorite game romance character, even almost 20 years after "meeting" her. Im glad to meet fellows that agree. Ps: I never used her as a melee character, I had no idea those spells you mentioned were so strong. What armor did you make her wear?

Playin BG2 SoA right now and I have to say its the best game Ive ever played. No MMORPG or actual game creates such intense feelings like BG2... Im gonna enjoy this game till the end!

I have been always an jrpg gamer ever since 2nd year of highschool and because of that, I'd always be biased to think that wrpg's are not that great and can't be good like JRPGs. But ever since I played this beautiful wrpg masterpiece, I found myself switching back and fort to being a wrpg gamer and jrpg gamer. I loved rpgs. Thank you baldur's gates.

The song of my life

I am saddened that we will never receive another experience like the _Baldur's Gate_ series; the writing, the graphics, the gameplay, the voice acting and the overall depth...perfect. My only genuine complaint is that not all of the main NPC lines were voiced (and I only raise this complaint because I enjoyed the voice actors and desired more of their contributions).

Yeah no kidding. You could just...do so muich with her. She had access to the widest variety of spells in the game by that point. You could turn her into whatever type of caster you wanted. An Archer (Ranger subclass) is the best PC class. By the end of the game, you fire arrows of death

Please don't put in any dodgy sex scenes. LOL With nude sprites. That ruined DA for alot of people. And it opened up a whole gamewankers section on sites for nude mods and shit like that. What was magical about BG2 ( a part of what made it magical anyway! ) was that it had none of this. It was Pure, so to speak. :\

Hey there, yes - it was a part of the original romance in ToB, no mods required :)
